James Norman was raised in SF Ca, Graduated High school and completed 2 years of criminology at SF community college. He then went on to become a Carpenters apprentice where he learned basic framing unbuilding skills. In his early 20's he was introduced to garage door installation and became an apprentice in that field. He worked for a major Garage Door co Automatic Garage Door of SF as an installer, estimator for 4 years. At 27 years of age in the late 80's he moved to Sweden for 2 1/2 years where he worked as an apprentice concrete form builder for a major European construction Co Skanska ABA. In the early 90's he returned to SF and went to work for City Overhead Doors as the head installer and estimator. In 1994 James got his California Contractors license and created Normans Overhead Doors as his first DBA. Normans of California in 2021 is a full service Residential, commercial garage door and gate company. It is still his entity in 2021 and is now a licensed Corporation. In 2005 while on vacation with family to Kauai Hi, James decided to create Normans Overhead Doors of Kauai. Within 2 years he bought a house and obtained his contractor's license in the state of Hawaii. Normans Overhead Doors of kauai garagedoorskauai.com has been a successful full service business in the state and became incorporated in 2015. They are an authorized dealer of Clopay Garage Doors, Northwest Garage doors. R and S, Cookson and and Pentagon commercial doors. In 2016 Normans was introduced to a new product called Knotwood.
