Amanda has a business degree and has worked in various business sectors including investment banking, corporate social responsibility and the charitable sector. Her favourite role was making children's wishes come true when she worked at The Walt Disney Company Ltd. She has travelled extensively and used to enjoy jumping out of aeroplanes and hiking to the top of snow-capped mountains. These days her hobbies are more relaxed and less dangerous; she now enjoys yoga, outdoor swimming and walking.
Karen has been running Mr Horwitz's private practice for the last 12 years and initiated the growth of one Consultant practice to the multi consultant Hand Doctor Practice. She graduated in Geography from University of Manchester and worked in the international conference business for 10+ years organising internet & telecoms conferences. Karen settled back in London after living in South Africa for a while. These days travelling is limited to holidays with her family and friends and she also enjoys swimming, cooking for friends and her Peloton bike.

Mr Dan Shaerf is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hand & Wrist Surgery. His NHS practice is at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. After completing his specialist training on the highly sought after North West London (Imperial) Rotation he underwent 3 prestigious Hand & Wrist fellowships at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals.
Dan specialises in both disorders and traumatic injuries of the Hand & Wrist. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented to international meetings on varying topics related to Hand & Wrist Surgery as well as Orthopaedics in general. He has set up a Hand Surgery Service based out of Ealing Hospital in West London.
He has a particular interest in thumb and wrist arthritis and uses state-of-the-art joint replacement technology.
Dan is a member of many specialist societies including the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, European Wrist Arthroscopy Society, British Orthopaedic Association and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He regularly teaches on courses, attends conferences and has visited leading experts to ensure his skills are cutting-edge and up to date.

Maxim Horwitz is a Consultant Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist Surgeon in the Hand Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital where he leads the paediatric hand surgery service. He is also an Honorary Consultant for the Major Trauma Unit at St Mary's Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) Stanmore.
Privately he runs specialised clinics for adult and paediatric patients across central and NW London. He offers hand and upper limb trauma management, tendon and carpal tunnel surgery, fracture fixation as well as the very latest techniques for many conditions. He treats all age paediatric patients from babies to teenagers and adults with hand and wrist trauma to congenital lesions and neuromuscular conditions.
Maxim Horwitz works with top teams and athletes to help recover from injury and return to peak performance as soon as possible - from Olympic athletes to Premiership footballers, international cricketers, boxers, rugby players and many others. He also works with many professional musicians.
