Whisky has been made at our family distillery in Roggenreith since 1995. This makes the family-run distillery the first whisky distillery in Austria... The Waldviertler Roggenhof in Roggenreith was run as a farm by the Haider family for over 100 years and passed on from generation to generation. In 1990, Johann and Monika Haider took over and continued to work the farm by the same tradition. But in 1995, when Austria joined the EU, the economic situation changed and Johann and Monika Haider were faced with a big decision: continue or give up?
