Welcome to the Wichita Art Museum, a dynamic cultural hub located in the Museums on the River District near Downtown Wichita. Our mission is to connect people, ideas, and American art through remarkable experiences. With a permanent collection showcasing over 10,000 artworks, spanning historical to contemporary pieces, celebrating the essence of American artistic heritage. Notable artists featured include Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, Winslow Homer, Mary Cassatt, and Louise Nevelson... When the first museum building opened its doors in 1935, it was an Art Deco gem designed by New York architect Clarence Stein. As the museum grew, so did community interest and support. In 1960, the Wichita Art Museum Members, Inc. was established. Through this non-profit membership organization, interested citizens could contribute funds and service toward the development of new programs.
