Simon trained at the AA school of Architecture in Central London, qualifying as a Registered Architect in 1978. Since qualifying, he has run his own architectural practices. Simon's professional experience has ranged from high profile, complicated planning processes on historic landmark buildings such as ‘Jumbo' water tower in Colchester to highly successful community-funded projects. He has always had a keen interest in design and is a talented negotiator. Simon has excellent knowledge of the planning and construction processes and vast experience of strategic planning and appeals. Simon taught for more than ten years at Anglia Ruskin University on both undergraduate and postgraduate Architecture courses, and led a number of European study tours. He has held chairmanships of several professional organisations and local community groups and has served on RIBA awards panels.
