Dr. Daugherty was raised in Colorado and Washington State. As a young child, Jack London novels invoked a fascination about Alaska. He set a goal when he was young to someday compete in the Iditarod dogsled race, a dream he realized in 2016 after moving to Alaska in 2014.
He received his medical degree in 2007 from the University of Utah. He had previously worked as an EMT-Paramedic and was also regional faculty for the American Heart Association.
Dr. Daugherty completed an internship at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, which was followed by residency training in Philadelphia at Drexel University.
Following residency training, he returned to the Mayo Clinic, where he was on staff for 2 years before coming to Alaska. Dr. Daugherty is also the co-founder of the nonprofit group, Radiating Hope, an organization that aims to improve access to cancer care around the globe.
He leads climbing expeditions regularly to places like Mt. Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu, and Everest Base Camp. Through these endeavors, he has led many leaders in the oncology realm to raise millions of dollars to build or improve cancer centers in developing countries.
Dr. Daugherty lives in Eagle River with his wife and 5 children.
Dr. Settle is a board-certified radiation oncologist with expertise in brain and spine radiosurgery and a special interest in brain, spine, breast, thoracic/lung, head & neck, GI, and prostate cancers.
After growing up in the California wine country, Dr. Settle completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Davis. While at Davis he conducted extensive research, publishing his work in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and earning the Departmental Citation For Outstanding Student in Genetics. After completing his undergraduate work, he was accepted to the Developmental Biology PhD program at Stanford University. Here Dr. Settle examined the role of growth factors in tissue signaling, which stimulated his interest in cancer research, and in medicine. After completing his PhD, he was awarded the prestigious Canby Robinson Scholarship to attend Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he graduated with a degree in medicine in 2005.
Dr. Settle was the recipient of numerous awards and honors during medical school and after graduating in 2005, he was accepted for Radiation Oncology residency training at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, completing his residency in 2010. During medical school and residency, Dr. Settle completed research fellowships on cell signaling publishing articles in major medical journals and giving presentations at national meetings.
After residency Dr. Settle was recruited to joint primary academic appointments at MD Anderson in the Department of Radiation Oncology, and Baylor College of Medicine in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. While in Texas he treated patients, conducted clinical research, ran three brain and spine radiosurgery clinical trials as the Principal Investigator, and taught the resident doctors at both Baylor and MD Anderson, including jointly running the brain stereotactic radiosurgery residency rotation at MD Anderson and serving as the course co-director for the radiobiology course for the Baylor radiation oncology residency program. Dr. Settle has attended numerous national and international cancer meetings, including as an invited speaker.
Dr. Settle and his wife had always intended to return west, and in 2013 they moved their four children to Alaska to help open the Gamma Knife Center at Alaska Regional Hospital. Here Dr. Settle performed the very first in-state, cutting-edge brain radiosurgery procedures for Alaskans. Dr. Settle has performed over 1000 stereotactic radiosurgery procedures on the brain, spine, and body. He is very excited to be joining Dr. Magnuson and the Alaska Cyberknife team and looks forward to applying his considerable brain, spine, and body radiosurgery expertise using this new cutting-edge tool.
Dr. Settle enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, four children, and three dogs. They love skiing, RVing, hiking, backpacking, and fishing. He is also a private pilot and holds a glider rating.

Dr. Magnuson was born and raised in the Anchorage area and feels very blessed to return home to care for his fellow Alaskans. Most recently, Dr. Magnuson completed a fellowship in Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy at Yale University.
While at Yale, he performed over 500 cases of radiosurgery, wrote research protocols and published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Magnuson has published extensively in the literature, with publications pertaining to stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy, androgen deprivation therapy, brain metastases, primary CNS malignancies, lung cancer, prostate cancer, head and neck cancer, skin cancer, gynecologic malignancies and gastrointestinal cancers.
Dr. Magnuson completed his residency at the University of Wisconsin and received his medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. In his free time, Dr. Magnuson enjoys hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, camping and spending time with his wife and two young children.
