Ashok Handa

Ashok Handa is Professor of Vascular Surgery at Oxford University and Honorary Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. He is the Director for Surgical Education and has been responsible for the undergraduate curriculum in surgery for Oxford University since 2001. He is Director of the Collaborating Centre for values-based practice in Health and Social Care based at St Catherine's College, Oxford and responsible for leading on education and research for the centre. He is Fellow in Clinical Medicine and Tutor for Graduates at St Catherine's College, responsible for 450 graduates across all disciplines. He has over 200 publications in vascular surgery, surgical education, patient safety and many on the topic of values-based practice, shared decision making and consent. He has been a member of the Advisory Board of CORESS for 7 years and the Council of the Medical Defence Union for 5 years. He is the Principle Investigator of the OxAAA and OxPVD studies in vascular surgery. He has extensive experience as a surgical educator and was the Inaugural Training Programme Director for vascular surgery for Wessex and the Thames valley for 7 years. He has been a member of the National Specialist Advisory Committee for vascular surgery for 5 years and National Lead for selection for 3 years. He was Deputy Head of the Oxford School of Surgery for 7 years and on the Board of the School for a decade. He has experience of Education and Healthcare building projects and for the last 3 years has been the Clinical Director advising the Government of the States of Jersey for their new hospital project.

David Powell

David joined Alder Hey as development director in December 2012 and has over 30 years' experience working in the NHS. A main part of David's current role is project director for the new Alder Hey in the Park, as well as executive lead for innovation. David is also the Development Director for the New Velindre Cancer Centre in Wales. Prior to his role at Alder Hey and Velindre, David held development director posts in Bristol and London, overseeing new hospital programmes. David's main schemes include: • The new Central Middlesex Hospital - £100m; • The Bristol Laboratory/Research complex - £100m; • Bristol Southmead Hospital - £430m; and • Alder Hey Children's Hospital - £200m. David has a history degree from Manchester University and is a qualified accountant.

Kate Bradley

With 20 years' experience within the healthcare industry, Kate has managed a wide range of major capital development projects for healthcare providers. This includes delivering health planning services from the early concept stages of a project all the way through to commissioning and occupation. Kate is passionate about stakeholder engagement and has strong skills in vision development and stakeholder engagement, she has previously been a visiting lecturer at Greenwich University. The breadth of her experience, in terms of the aspects of the business case, design, build and commissioning process she has managed, and the type and size of projects she has worked on, give her a uniquely valuable insight and skill-set. Kate's specific areas of expertise include briefing and business case development, operational policies, capacity modelling and operational commissioning of premises. Kate has a keen eye for detail and understands the process of designing and procuring healthcare buildings. This makes her adept at ensuring the final design solution meets the vision and requirements captured during the brief development process.

Llewelyn Davies

Victor Okpevba

Victor has worked in the healthcare sector for over 14 years, in that time he has led and delivered major healthcare projects nationally and internationally. He is the southwest Regional WSP built environment lead. His team in the southwest are the WSP healthcare centre of excellence delivering NHS projects across the country, with a particular focus on the Southwest and London. Victor is the WSP NHS decarbonisation lead, providing decarbonisation strategy and implementation expertise to NHS as well as other public sector bodies.
