Aaron Bibelhauser

Aaron Bibelhauser is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and vintage bluegrass music enthusiast from Louisville, KY. In addition to writing songs recorded by award winning bluegrass artists including Del McCoury Band, Balsam Range, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Dale Ann Bradley, and The Wooks, he's taken first place in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest and earned a nomination for the IBMA's prestigious Song Of The Year Award. A union electrician by trade, Bibelhauser wears many hats. As an accomplished solo recording artist, radio broadcaster, and session player, Bibelhauser also fronts the Louisville, Ky based bluegrass band, Relic, along with his twin brother, Adam.

The Floyd County EMS Advisory Board kicked off the discussion this week to select a provider for a new EMS contract. New Chapel EMS, whose contract with the county expires at the end of May, and AmeriPro Health submitted bids. Former Indiana Republican Sen. Ron Grooms was elected by caucus last week to serve as the new Clark County Republican Party chair. He replaces longtime Chair Jamey Noel, who stepped down months into a criminal investigation. Colleen also shares her analysis of the intersection of classical music and pop culture in the blog Notes from the Music Director. She often produces special presentations on air, including Her Music/Her Story for International Women's Day, which won a Gracie Award from the Alliance for Women in Media in 2022. At Nashville Public Radio Colleen was the host and producer of the acclaimed podcast Classically Speaking. Daniel Gilliam

Daniel is a native of Louisville, and has lived in lots of other places, including spending his developmental years in Chile. He's worked in classical radio since 2007 mostly here at LPM (with a brief stint from 2010-2012 at Minnesota Public Radio) producing award-winning audio, hosting daily music shows, interviewing big names in classical music, and creating interesting live events like New Lens. Divya Karthikeyan covers Race & Equity for LPM. Previously, she served as the Capitol Reporter for Kentucky Public Radio, a collaborative of stations including LPM, WEKU, WKYU and WKMS. Originally from Chennai, India, she's reported for national and international outlets on politics, climate change, gender and caste inequality in India. She started out in the U.S. as a graduate student at NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute and interned at The New Republic and Gotham Gazette. As correctional facilities in Kentucky and other states deal with overcrowding, researchers and community groups across the country are calling for more research into "post-incarceration syndrome." House Bill 367, which is currently stalled in the Kentucky Senate, would make it harder for residents to qualify for SNAP benefits. An opponent says it could affect farmers' businesses and livelihoods. Students and faculty at the University of Louisville rallied against two pieces of legislation that would impact state college programs focused on diversity, equity and inclusion. As Louisville negotiates a consent decree with the Department of Justice, community members want a voice in the process. One Metro Council member wants to support them with a resolution. An amnesty program at the Jefferson County District Court last month helped clear more than 300 bench warrants for low-level and nonviolent offenses. More affordable housing, funding shelters and money for eviction prevention are on the advocacy organization's list of recommendations for Louisville's next budget and plans. Louisville Metro plans to connect all the city's public parks to free 5G Wi-Fi by the end of summer 2025. Plans are underway with a focus on low-income areas in the city. In 1992, one man made it easier to find Black History Month events in Louisville. The calendar he created is now a historical artifact and his mentee is continuing his legacy. Uncertainty loomed over the future of the West End's only public pool for almost a year. Now city officials say they've got plans to reopen. For some immigrants or refugees, gaining access to basic services can prove daunting with a language barrier. The issue affects many residents in Louisville, where the city and partners are trying to connect more with residents who aren't fluent in English. For Black men, a barbershop isn't just a place to get edge-ups or a beard trim - it's a space for finding community with other Black men and opening up in ways that go beyond small talk. A free program in Louisville aims to expand that. Louisville Urban League's CEO outlines 2024 goals, focus on Black-owned businesses A total eclipse of the sun will be visible from sites near Louisville on April 8, 2024. A University of Louisville course, open to anyone, starts in January and will teach about this phenomenon.

She is the Vice President of Content at Louisville Public Media. Gabrielle came to LPM in 2019 from KERA in Dallas, Texas where she served first as Digital News Editor then Audience Editor. Previously she worked at Richmond, Virginia's PBS and NPR affiliate, VPM. Gabrielle joined VPM in 2015 and worked in a variety of roles in the fundraising, digital and news departments. Gabrielle completed her undergraduate work in English and Mass Communications at North Carolina Central University in Durham, N.C., where she finished her bachelor's degree in just three years. She earned her master's degree in Journalism and Public Affairs from American University. Gabrielle is a former Vice President of the board of directors of the Public Media Journalists association and currently serves on the organization's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee.. She worked on Louisville Public Media's collaborative "Home" issue of Louisville Magazine. The project was a finalist for a 2023 National Magazine Award. Her other awards include two 2020 Regional Murrow Awards for overall Excellence and multimedia with VPM.

Louisville Metro's Office of Sustainability announced the Solarize Louisville program to provide residents with solar panels at discounted rates. Goodwill Industries of Kentucky opened its west Louisville Opportunity Center, which will serve as a multi-resource center for underserved residents in the West End, on Wednesday. The Clark Memorial Bridge, also known as the Second Street Bridge, will restrict traffic to two southbound lanes for emergency repairs. Three pedestrians were killed and one was injured within 24 hours, after drivers hit them. These incidents follow actions by city leaders to curb fatal vehicle collisions. The Sherman Minton Bridge reopened Wednesday to vehicular traffic following an emergency closure late last week.
