Ryan Mackie

Ryan prides himself in providing his clients with bespoke, practical, and commercially relevant advice in the fields of Data Privacy, Information and Cyber Security Law and compliance. He provides guidance on adopting or enhancing privacy technology platforms and products, both to end-users and software vendors during design, and is currently involved in the development of AI for auditing algorithmic risks. His focus is to help businesses protect themselves, their data, and the trust of their customers. In addition to being a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), under which he is a certified Fellow of Information Privacy, Information Privacy Professional, Information Privacy Manager, and most recently a certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer, Ryan is able to draw on his experience working as a lawyer, qualified to practice in South Africa, to provide clear guidance with an appreciation for both the practical and legal risks of non-compliance with local information and cyber security laws and regulations.

Thomas Richards

Thomas joined Sandhurst Solicitors in 2021 as a Commercial Paralegal with a background in Information Technology and Contract Management. He graduated in law at the Old Royal Naval College in London, and is now a Trainee Solicitor enrolled at BPP Law School. Thomas has experience working with fully bespoke terms and frameworks across different procurement routes, as well as both standard and amended forms of JCT- and NEC-suite contracts. His work includes: providing focused analysis and guidance on B2B construction and management services agreements; compiling high-level insight reports to enable clients to more quickly appraise the terms of an award; and delivering support on a wide range of global and local services agreements for key clients, including risk analysis and drafting of schedules of amendments. Thomas takes a keen interest in our clients' companies to ensure their goals are recognised and reflected in our services. As a qualified Software Engineer, he enjoys using clear logic over lengthy jargon to deliver practical output, allowing clients to make informed decisions on how to effectively achieve their business objectives.
