I qualified in Turkey as a lawyer and worked within the field of criminal law and human rights law from 2000 to 2006. During my professional career, I was involved in preparation and submission of several cases on behalf of Kurdish applicants that were brought against Turkey before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). I have also participated in numerous voluntary activities of the Diyarbakir Bar Association (DBA), the Contemporary Lawyers Association (CLA) and the Human Rights Association (HRA), Diyarbakir branch. I have participated in various international training programmes on different human rights issues. I participated in the international legal internship programme of the Kurdish Human Rights Project (KHRP) in 2003 and the International Bar Association Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI) in 2007
