SPEAR will create a European network of experts providing challenging, state-of-the-art training for young researchers in the field of fundamental and applied Spin Orbitronics... Spin Orbitronics deals with the rich physical phenomena observed in condensed matter systems arising from spin-orbit coupling (SOC), a relativistic effect that couples the electronic spin and momentum degrees of freedom, with both a fundamental interest and technological perspectives: Spin Orbitronics has shown great potential for the development of novel MRAM (magnetic random-access memory) and is considered among the best strategies to complement and go beyond current CMOS technology.
