I attended the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, Scotland and graduated as a veterinarian in 2000. In the following few years I experienced many branches of veterinary medicine and surgery with positions that provided exposure to small animal, exotic pets, farm animal, emergency medicine, equine and wildlife medicine. I undertook an internship and residency in marine mammal medicine and pathology through UC Davis at The Marine Mammal Center in California before embarking on the ACVR-accredited residency in radiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I became a Diplomate of the ACVR in 2009 and an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Diagnostic Imaging in 2011.
