I started to fiddle with Microsoft Access so I could print mailing labels to send "Thank you" cards when I was a missionary raising my own funds to live and work in Africa. At the cross road of the career change, Access was the only skill I had in a new "real" job world. Soon, I developed invoice, quote systems free of charge for my jobs. Then I was introduced to CRM. Over the years, I made one and managed several commercial systems. From my experience, I see one common denominator among the systems I managed and trained users for. It's not about the system's functions or technology. It is about how people's thought process and work flow of manual tasks they've done can be applied to the system they are told to use by the management. When designer or architect of the system's mind can connect to average sales reps and inside sales people's mind, so-called "WOW" can happen in the office. The management wants results and control.
