In business since 1991, and recognized by Wood & Wood Products Magazine as a "Top 100 Wood Company" in September 2013, Trottas Custom Stairs & Wood Turnings has been building and delivering the finest quality stair systems to the most discerning customers. We bring master craftsmanship along with 20 years experience in stair building and design to each job ensuring that our customers' unique vision is reflected. Specializing in creating interior and exterior stair systems for new construction homes we have also been instrumental in the renovation of historic buildings and homes while maintaining the beauty of the staircases in their original design.
Trottas Custom Stairs & Wood Turnings works with architects, builders and homeowners providing individual attention and quality craftsmanship until stair projects are complete. We are proud to have provided our services to many recognized architects and high end home builders throughout Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY.
Unlike other stair companies with smaller stores, our expansive shop size allows us space for a large inventory of state of the art equipment though much of our work is still done by hand. Newel posts and balusters are spun on a Hapfo lathe using custom made templates. Rail systems are curved and shaped using dedicated machinery and methods such as steaming. Custom staircases of various designs are laid out and constructed in our shop before being delivered for installation. All of our stair building is done to meet custom specifications. We will work with other craftsman and utilize stair parts distributors if your needs require the use of specific materials.
