Arthur W. Wardell

Arthur Warren Wardell was born and raised in New York. He graduated from Cornell University in 1971. In 1975, he earned his M.D. degree from Cornell Medical College. His specialty training took him to the University of Michigan and the University of Rochester. Dr. Wardell has practiced in Tidewater since 1980. In 2004, he founded Wardell Orthopaedics. He has been active in many medical staff roles, serving as President of the Medical Staff of Portsmouth General Hospital in the 1990's. He has taught at Old Dominion University and Eastern Virginia Medical School. He has served as team physician for local high schools. He lives in the Harbour View section of Suffolk. He met his wife Janet in sixth grade but waited before he married her. They have three daughters and nine grandchildren. All of them look like him.

Danielle M. Lacorazza

Danielle was born and raised in Northern New Jersey. She attended the State University of New York at Cortland and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training. After graduation, Danielle worked with youth and high school sports teams, treating all sorts of orthopedic injuries that occurred on various athletic fields. Danielle then went on to attend Seton Hall University and earned a Master's of Science in Physician Assistant in 2022. Having experienced knee surgery herself, Danielle understands the rehabilitation process and the importance of returning to an active lifestyle. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Daren M. Wingard

Dr Wingard is a board certified physician specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He was born and raised near Buffalo, New York. He completed medical school in Syracuse New York, and was awarded a United States Naval medical school scholarship. After completing medical school, he subsequently served in the United States Navy in Iceland as the flight surgeon. He returned to the Tidewater Area to complete specialty training at Eastern Virginia Medical School and has been serving as a rehabilitation specialist in the Tidewater Area since 2001. He has performed electrodiagnostic testing (EMG's) for the past 20 years and is proud to be part of the Wardell Orthopaedics team since 2015. He lives in Windsor, Virginia with his wife and 3 children where he enjoys rural/ farming life, family time and surfing in his time off.

Diana B. Tollaksen

Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Diana has over 19 years in the Medical community having worked in executive offices within Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) while attending college. While working for EVMS, she was involved with special projects such as the initial structure of the Physician Assistant program for the medical school. Diana is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. She then went to Eastern Virginia Medical School, where she graduated with a M.S. in Physician Assistant in 2006, and also received the EVMS Paragon Award that same year. Diana has recently been a lecturer at EVMS with topics in Gynecology as well as in Orthopaedics. Diana is board certified with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of The American Academy of Physician Assistants, as well as The Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants.

Maria Lyall

received her undergraduate degree in Human Biology from Stanford University in 1980. She worked as a practice administrator & consultant for physician offices for 12 to 13 years before pursuing graduate training. She received her Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from ODU in 1995. Maria has extensive experience in all aspects of outpatient physical therapy including: manual therapy, myofascial release, sports injury rehabilitation, geriatrics, women's health, and stroke rehabilitation. Her personal interests include exercise, yoga, music, literature, and cooking. She is also bilingual in Russian.

Michael T. Ratanataya

Mike was born in Bangkok, Thailand but has resided in Virginia since 1971. He began working in healthcare after high school when he became employed by Portsmouth General Hospital as an emergency room technician, while also attending Old Dominion University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Mike enrolled as a graduate student at Old Dominion, while continuing to work in the emergency room and as a graduate research assistant in the biotechnology department. After graduating with a Master of Science in Biology, Mike worked for LifeNet. There, he processed many of the grafts that are used in orthopaedic surgery today.In 2001 Mike graduated from the inaugural Master of Physician Assistant program at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Upon graduation, he received the Eugene Stead Jr. Award. Mike is a member of the American Association of Physician Assistants and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Whether it is running, lifting weights, or playing basketball, he enjoys working out! Having experienced two knee surgeries and an Achilles tendon repair by Dr. Wardell, he understands the need and desire for people to get back to an active lifestyle. He has been working with Dr. Wardell since 2001. Mike and his wife Traci reside in Suffolk and have three children.
