Amrit Singh - COO

As part of the Executive Leadership team, Amrit provides commercial and operational leadership for nasen ensuring its future sustainability and ability to continue meeting the sector's needs. Annamarie Hassall

Annamarie Hassall MBE is the Chief Executive (CEO) of nasen with responsibility for strategic direction and operational delivery across the full breadth of nasen's activity. nasen CEO is the main point of contact for the board of trustees and has a close working relationship with the Department for Education (DfE). Annamarie also has overall responsibility for external relations and business development.

Chontell Braceland

Chontell is responsible for reporting across the whole organisation ensuring that we are meeting all of our charitable objectives. As nasen's Data Protection Officer (DPO) Chontell is also responsible in ensuring that all data is held securely, accurately and in line with the latest GDPR regulations. Chontell also plays a key role in supporting projects and programmes.

Danielle Brown

At 18 years old, Danielle joined the Great British Archery Paralympic Team jumping in as World Number 1 and held onto that position for the rest of her career. Danielle won gold at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games and retained her title in London 2012. She became the first disabled athlete to represent England at the Commonwealth Games in the able-bodied team and won gold! Coming from a world where one tiny mistake is the difference between winning and failing, Danielle's experiences have given her a special insight into what it takes to deliver results and achieve challenging objectives. One of her real passions is working with young people, helping them to take ownership over their future and maximise their potential.

Dr Sue Soan

Job Titles:

Dr Sue Soan is a part-time university lecturer, working with doctoral students on studies relating to additional educational needs. She is also an educational adviser for fostering organisations and schools and undertakes consultancy and supervision work with school leaders.

Dr Tim Coulson

Dr Tim Coulson CBE is a primary teacher who became Headteacher of William Tyndale School in Islington. He was a local authority officer in five areas, including as Director of Education for the 550 schools in Essex. He led an education action zone in Lambeth and the National Numeracy Strategy after a spell at the Qualification and Curriculum Authority. He was the first Regional Schools Commissioner for the east of England and now is CEO of Unity Schools Partnership, an academy trust of 32 primary, special and secondary schools. He chairs the Norwich Partnership and is a member of a joint education and health SEND ministerial group.

Elaine Colquhoun

Elaine has recently retired as Executive Principal of Whitefield Academy Trust. This consisted of two schools and is one of the largest Special Education providers in the UK. The Trust provides education and care for pupils with profound, severe and complex difficulties from the ages of 3 to 19 years, including pupils with autism and vision impairment. She has worked for most of her career in the field of special education. She has been a head teacher for 17 years in two outstanding schools. She has a wide ranging local, national and international experience and perspective in the field of SEN. She worked as an additional Inspector seconded to Ofsted in which she worked in conjunction with HMI for a year.

Elaine Simpson

With over 30 years' experience in UK education and children's services, Elaine is an influential figure who has achieved positive change in how regional and national education is delivered, managed and perceived. Her career has spanned public, private and third sectors, with her last executive role being at Serco. Since leaving her executive roles, Elaine has held a portfolio of board roles including chairing Minerva Education, Chairing the National Children's Bureau, being Non-Executive Director for Acorn Care and Education, Non-Executive Director of Birmingham Children's Hospital and a Governor at Staffordshire University.

Fiona Millar

Fiona Millar is a writer and journalist specialising in education and parenting issues. She went to school and university in London and started her career on the Mirror Group's graduate training scheme in Devon. She worked on the Daily Mirror and the Daily Express, as a news reporter, political correspondent and freelance feature writer. Between 1997 and 2003 she worked at Downing Street as a special adviser . She now writes a column in Education Guardian and regularly takes part in television and radio debates about education policy. In 2004 Fiona wrote and presented a film 'The Best for My Child' about parental choice for Channel Four. Between 2003 and 2010 she was chair of the Family and Parenting Institute, a leading centre of expertise on family policy in the UK. Fiona is co-founder of the Local Schools Network website and in 2009 published a book about work life balance called 'The Secret World of the Working Mother'. Fiona has three grown up children and is chair of governors of a North London comprehensive school. She is also vice-chair of the National Youth Arts Trust and chair of the Young Camden Foundation.

Ian Hughes

Ian was formerly Finance Director of The National Lottery Community Fund and continues to act for the fund in an advisory capacity. He represents the Fund's interests as Director of The Oversight Trust (formerly Big Society Trust) which safeguards the funding and approach of four organisations distributing monies under the Dormant Bank and Building Society Accounts scheme. Ian's role at the fund encompassed responsibility for all Corporate Services including Finance, Technology, HR, Legal and Property. Ian is also a Non-Executive Director of Beatfreeks arts, a Birmingham based social enterprise supporting young people into employment through Arts activities. He also acts as an advisor to a number of organisations on finance related matters.

Jeremy Gould

Jeremy is a senior civil servant with many years of experience of digital service transformation. An early member of the Government Digital Service, Jeremy has worked with public sector organisations including the Home Office, Ministry of Justice, Department for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy, Department for Education and Foreign and Commonwealth Office to deliver better public services that are digital by default and build user centred design capability across government.

Lisa Alberti - CEO

Lisa is CEO and College Lead, established post 16 alternative provision, Specialist College for Creative Education. 20 years' experience of teaching and leading, 10 being senior management and Designated Safeguarding Lead, within areas of high deprivation and high SEN need.

Lisa Knowles

Lisa joined nasen in May 2020 and is responsible for project management, income generation and operations at nasen. She works closely with colleagues across the organisation to ensure the smooth running of projects and contracts and to create funding proposals and tender responses. Lisa is also responsible for IT, equipment and the running of our Tamworth and London offices.

Malcolm Reeve

Malcolm has worked in the field of SEND for 30 years and in that time has worked in adult provision, mainstream schools, and special schools. He has worked in with children throughout the age range and with learning difficulties ranging from moderate to profound. Malcolm has been a Headteacher of three schools and one federation. He is a National Leader of Education, a Member of the National SEND Forum, and Patron of the Centre Algarve holiday centre for people with special needs.

Maria Carney

Martin Bull

Zoe began her career on the Graduate Teaching Programme in 2000 as a secondary maths teacher. She then furthered her practice across several secondary schools holding roles including outreach and SENCO. Her most recent post before joining nasen, was as Assessment and Achievement Lead as part of the SLT of an autism-specific all-through special school.
