Established in 2020, BENVAC aims at using novel technological approaches to develop nano-vaccines against major infections that are major causes of mortality and morbidity globally. The main goal is to generate new nano-vaccines based on bacterial exosomes...
We have teamed-up 4 different research groups with expertise in (i) bacteria and bacterial exosomes, host-bacterial interactions and vaccine development (Birgitta Henriques-Normark at Karolinska Institutet), (ii) fluorescence bioimaging (Jerker Widengren at KTH Stockholm), (iii) nanoparticle technology (Georgios Sotiriou, Karolinska Institutet), and (iv) high-performance photon detectors (Val Zwiller and Ali Elshaari, KTH Stockholm). We also have an industrial partner, Single Quantum, who will provide the expertise and technological relevance in novel sensitive single nanowire photon detectors.
