Eastern Gateway Community College is a state, public institution of higher education, founded in 1968 at Jefferson County Technical Institute... The Ohio Board of Regents approved a name change for the institute to Jefferson Technical College in 1977. In 1995, the college expanded its mission to provide associate degrees for transfer to four-year institutions and was renamed Jefferson Community College. On Oct. 9, 2009, Eastern Gateway Community College began officially serving the public with its broader mission and expanded service district to include Columbiana, Jefferson, Mahoning and Trubull counties.
