Abdulaziz Al

Abdulaziz Al Shukaili is currently leading the electrical competency & capability in PDO. He holds a Master Degree in project management from University of Liverpool and BSc in Electrical Engineering from SQU. Throughout his career with a total experience of 18 years, he held several positions in technical and management fields. Abdulaziz led the Energy Diversification Program at the Implementation Support & Follow up Unit (ISFU) - Oman Vision 2040. He managed the Energy National Labs that came out with the first large scale renewable projects in the Sultanate with agreed targets as well as developed with other entities a new governance for the gas & electricity sectors in Oman. Previously, Abdulaziz worked as a senior Electrical Engineer at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) for many oil & gas projects including Rabab-Harweel and Yibal Khuff, the largest projects in PDO history. Before that, he worked in Oman Electricity Transmission company (OETC) controlling Oman national grid and in Schlumberger as a field engineer

For two years, I honed my skills at one of the leading Operations & Maintenance companies in Oman, where I developed a robust foundation in maintenance strategy and project management. Subsequently, I transitioned to Phoenix Power Company, taking on the role of Senior Asset Engineer. In this capacity, my primary responsibilities include spearheading business initiatives and safeguarding asset integrity, ensuring that the company's strategic objectives are met through meticulous planning and execution.

He has over 40 years of extensive experience in the field of installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and refurbishment of capital electrical equipment i.e., generators, transformers, and high voltage substations. He has an enriched experience in the field of asset management, risk assessment, technical audits and his competency in failure investigations is well recognised in the power industry. He has led technical due diligence, and transections advisory projects under present phase of energy transition. He is a professionally certified project manager from Project Management Institute, Inc since 2009 and an active member of CIGRE in the Gulf Region.

Dr. Khalfan Al Kharusi

Khalfan has BSc and MSc in electrical engineering from Sultan Qaboos University in 2008 and 2013, respectively. He has recently finished his PhD. in electrical engineering from Sultan Qaboos University. He started his career as a control engineer in the Load Dispatch Centre, OETC, then as an electrical engineer in Worely Parsons Consultant Company in Oman. Currently, he is section head of protection in the Distribution Code Review Panel. His research area of interest is power system protection and control and artificial intelligence applications in power systems. He participated in several conferences and published several research articles in the area of research of interest.

Dr. Mohammad Al Muhaini

Mohammad AlMuhaini received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) in 2012, and his M.S. and B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia in 2007 and 2004, respectively. He was the chair of the IEEE Saudi Arabia section from 2018 to 2021. Dr. Al Muhaini has developed and coordinated the M. Eng program in Sustainable and Renewable Energy and the undergraduate concentration in Energy Efficiency at KFUPM. He was also the office head of the KFUPM Institute for Knowledge Exchange. He was a visiting scholar in Texas A&M and Princeton University in 2008 and 2022-2023. He is currently the chair of the electrical engineering department, KFUPM.

Dr. Nabil Khalil Ibrahim

Dr. Nabil Khalil Ibrahim is a seasoned electrical engineer with a distinguished career encompassing academia, industry leadership, and technical consulting. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain (1999), following his M.S. and B.S. degrees in the same field from the University of Helwan, Cairo, Egypt (1994 & 1987). Dr. Nabil boasts a prolific record of publications, having authored many articles and guided two Ph.D. theses. His professional journey has seen him excel in academic and leadership roles, including a professorship at Helwan University (2000-2005) and serving as Senior Counselor for Development and Team Leader for the IDP program at Kahramaa, Qatar (2005-2010). Since 2012, Dr. Nabil has spearheaded ASEC, a technical service company based in Dammam, KSA. Furthermore, his expertise has been sought after by prestigious organizations across the Middle East, including the US Corps of Engineers and Aramco, for whom he has provided electrical. Dr. Nabil is equally committed to knowledge transfer, having conducted over 70 professional training programs for utility and industrial companies throughout the region. His dedication to professional development is further evidenced by the NAMAA - KAFAA program, which he developed and executed, successfully enhancing the skills of over 100 engineers.

Hani Balfass

Eng. Hani Balfass is a technical consultant for PV, Solar Energy, Electrical and Electronic devices. Now, he is working at GRL /GCC Electrical Testing Laboratory (GCCLab) Company at Renewable Energy Department as a technical and business developer for electrical and solar energy. He started his career as a testing operator then operation manager before eventually becoming a lab manager of an accredited ISO/IEC 17025 PV testing laboratory at KACST, Riyadh. He contributed for testing and monitoring of some technical specifications of Saudi Arabia PV standards which is SASO IEC 61215:2016. As well as, He contributed technically and at management level of KACST National PV Standard Regulation. Currently, he contributes on Saudi PV standards developing project that is executed by King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) and GCCLab with Underwriters Laboratory (UL) collaboration. He is a certified Auditor / Lead Auditor for IRCA QMS ISO 9001:2015. Eng. Hani holds B.S (Honor) of Electrical Power Engineering from Tenaga National University (UNITEN) in Malaysia and M.D of PV and Solar Energy Engineering from University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia.

Hisham Al Riyami

Power and energy engineer with an in-depth theoretical and practical experience in electrical field. Proven experiences and meeting targets and achievements in the electricity sector and regulated businesses for more than 15 years. Deriving capex investments related to electrical transmission projects and approved by the regulator for more than RO One Billion. Hisham joined OETC and working as System Studies Engineer in 2008. From 2013 till December 2015, holding the position of Strategic Planning & Studies Section Head. Since 2015, holding the position of Network Planning Department Manager under the Asset Management & Planning Department at OETC. Currently, Hisham is holding the position of General Manager of Planning and Design Department. Hisham has published more than 60 technical papers in the power system in region and international conferences. He is Chairman Deputy of Grid Code Review Panel since 2018 and member in the Planning Committee of GCCIA since 2016. He received the BSc. ENG in Power Systems and Energy from Sultan Qaboos University in 2008 and completed Master in Business Administration (MBA) at University of Bedfordshire in July 2020. Hisham is a Senior Member in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member in Cigre Committee.

Jamie Hoyzer

Jamie Hoyzer joined the Siemens apprenticeship program in 2002 and continued to work for the company in various roles in Germany, the UAE and Oman over the course of his career. He became the General Manager of Siemens in Oman in 2021 and was nominated as CEO of Siemens in Oman in September 2022. Hoyzer is a seasoned manager with broad experience across the Siemens portfolio. In the past two decades, he has held multiple positions of increasing responsibility in management, production, finance, controlling, sales and tendering, customer relationships and project management. As a business executive, Hoyzer is an advocate of implementing technologies in infrastructure and industries that transform our lives and protect our planet. Lionel Rabin - Founded Haltiqa - Bridging Energies in 2018, a strategic advisory services company operating in Oman and UAE, focused on decarbonisation. Lionel has 20 years of experience in the MENA region in world scale utilities projects development (integration of hydrogen, water, power). He was the MD MENA region for the world's largest hydrogen producer and supplier. Haltiqa contributed to Oman's green hydrogen road map (EJAAD, The Research Centre, OQ, and MoEM), and carried out a decarbonization road map for a water company in Sohar and a green hydrogen and ammonia pre-feasibility study for OQ. Yahya's career spans more than 20 years and involved all project life cycle from initiation to operation. He spearheaded all utility scale solar PV IPPs in the country so far. Away from professional career, Yahya is a writer and author of 4 books in Arabic literature and intellect.
