Our lab is interested in performing research in molecular evolutionary genetics, population genetics and comparative genomics. We are part of the 1000 Genomes Consortium and have published on admixture in Caribbean populations from a genomic standpoint. Additionally, we have co-founded and worked extensively in the Puerto Rican parrot genome project. We have also collaborated in studies on pre-contact human migrations in the Circum-Caribbean region through ancient and modern DNA analyses. More recently, we have begun research on genetic variation in diseases affecting Puerto Ricans.
