Dr. Heather Lee

Dr. Heather Lee, DVM, DABVP joined the team in April 2023. She graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 and began practicing mixed animal medicine in West Texas. Dr. Lee loves supporting her patients through every stage of life which inspired her to obtain a canine and feline board certification in 2022 from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Dr. Lee lives in West Texas and serves her community as a volunteer firefighter. She and her husband are beekeepers and they love to spend time caring for the bees.

Dr. Katherine Mix

Dr. Katherine Mix is a Dallas native who's board-certified in veterinary emergency and critical care. In her role at North Dallas Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital, she provides oversight on medical standards, patient care protocols and hospital operations. Dr. Mix graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Following graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Mix completed a 2-year small animal rotating internship and a 3-year residency in small animal emergency and critical care at South Texas Veterinary Specialists in San Antonio, TX. Prior to completion of her residency, Dr. Mix worked briefly in a primary care private practice in Corpus Christi, TX and emergency medicine in Houston, TX. Her professional interests include acute kidney injury, toxin ingestion, accidental drug overdose and sepsis. Dr. Mix finds purpose in giving the most severely ill patients a chance at survival. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her daughter, 3 dogs, 1 cat and 4 goats!

Dr. Libby Ramirez

Dr. Libby Ramirez completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at the California Institute of Technology. She graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M Cum Laude in 2002. After spending a year in general veterinary practice in El Paso, Dr. Ramirez joined the Animal Emergency Hospital in 2003. She completed a specialty veterinary certification in 2011 which is a board certification in Canine and Feline Practice. Dr. Ramirez was most recently Chief of Hospital Operations at Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas.

Dr. Mikala Brown

Dr. Mikala Brown holds a passion for medical science and a love for animals. Her special interests are in surgery and caring for critical patients. Dr. Brown joins NDVESH with 10 years of experience. She's been practicing in Dallas for the past two years. She spent the 8 years prior working in various locations throughout the country. She received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Eastern Oregon University. Then achieved her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oregon State University. Upon graduating, Dr. Brown worked through 3 internship programs with a focus on surgery, before choosing an emergency position. When Dr. Brown isn't caring for patients, she spends time with her growing family, including her husband, 2 kids (soon to be 3), 4 dogs, 2 cats, and a horse!

Kristina de la Pena

Kristina started her career in the vet field in 2009 and received her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Cedar Valley College. She found her true passion in nursing, working on emergency, neurology, and critical care teams. In her time away from the hospital, Kristina enjoys spending time with her family and supporting the Dallas Stars and A&M Football.
