Jeff Peek

Mr. Peek has practiced in the area of Immigration law since 2002, and handled cases from family-based visas, to Deportation hearings, to Business and Investor visas. He is 1 of only 16 Austin attorneys that are Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and the only one who has also practiced Criminal law for more than 20 years. Jeff Peek earned his law degree from the St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to his admission into the State Bar (Texas), Jeff is a member of various influential and reputed professional organizations, such as the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), American Bar Association, and the Austin Bar Association. He also strongly believes in staying connected and giving back to the community. Jeff is a frequent guest on local radio shows where he speaks on the subject of immigration. He is also a member of the Nueva Vida Hispanic Church in Austin. Jeff has been on numerous local radio shows as an expert on criminal defense and immigration. It all started with radio show in Spanish called "El Show Con Los Abogados Güeros" dedicated to informing the local Spanish-speaking community of their legal rights and educating them on a wide variety of issues. The show ran for more than three years on Saturday mornings and at its height was the highest rated show in its spot in both English and Spanish. Jeff is married to Adriana, a Mexican attorney from Guadalajara who is also active in the immigrant community. Jeff and his family are active members of the Nueva Vida Spanish Ministry at the First Evangelical Free Church in Austin, and supporters of the International Justice Mission, Compassion International, and Truth for Life.

Joey Cantu

Jose "Joey" Guadalupe Cantu grew up in the Rio Grande Valley city of Edinburg and attended the University of Texas at Austin where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2007 and Juris Doctorate in 2011. Joey has been involved in criminal defense since 2007 when he first worked under longtime Austin criminal defense attorney Bill White. While in law school, Joey participated in the Actual Innocence and Criminal Defense Clinics. In 2011, he began practicing law in Colorado as a Deputy Public Defender for the Colorado State Public Defender's Office where he tried cases ranging from misdemeanors to homicides. He was promoted to Senior Deputy in 2016. Joey left the Public Defender's Office in 2018 and opened Cantu Law, LLC in Pueblo where he continued to practice criminal defense all across southeastern Colorado from Lamar to Trinidad. In 2019, he continued his trial work on homicide cases in Bent and Huerfano Counties. In 2021, Joey moved back to his home state of Texas and continued his practice of criminal law. He worked for Dunham & Jones law firm handling misdemeanors and felonies in Williamson and Travis Counties as well as eastern parts of the state bordering with Louisiana. Joey was brought on board by Jeff Peek in September 2022 to manage the Criminal Department of Peek Law Group where he mentors his team and continues to handle all types of criminal cases. He has devoted his entire career to the representation of those in need and continues to do so while living in Austin with his wife Emily, daughter Téa and chocolate lab Arlo.

Karina Rivera

Karina is a dedicated criminal defense attorney who has established herself as a trusted advocate for her clients. Born in El Paso, Texas and raised in Juarez, Chihuahua, Karina's unique upbringing provides her with a deep understanding of the cultural and legal issues that affect families on both sides of the border. Prior to becoming an attorney, Karina gained valuable experience in the legal field by working as a criminal defense paralegal in Austin, Texas. Her passion for criminal law led her to pursue a career as an attorney. After graduating summa cum laude from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, Karina earned her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 2022. In addition to her work as a student attorney on Death Penalty cases, Karina also interned with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, where she gained valuable insight into the prosecution's perspective. Karina has also assisted in the defense of various felony and federal cases, including manslaughter and felony murder trials. Her ability to see both sides of a case, along with her well-rounded experience, makes her a formidable advocate for her clients. As a native speaker, Karina is able to effectively communicate with clients who prefer to speak in their native Spanish. Marisela Arredondo

Marisela was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and from a young age knew she wanted to be an attorney. Working towards her dream, Ms. Arredondo attended Texas State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science. During her time at Texas State, she realized her love for central Texas and vowed to return once a licensed attorney. Prior to law school, Ms. Arredondo started working in a criminal defense firm as a full time paralegal. It was at this time that her love for criminal defense would be solidified. As a paralegal, Marisela would assist good, hard-working, people that found themselves in a tough spot. This experience lit a fire in Ms. Arredondo to start the final steps to becoming an attorney. Marisela was accepted and graduated from South Texas College of Law - Houston. During her time in law school, Marisela continued to help the Harris County community. She partook in the Estate Planning Clinic at South Texas helping clients with modest estate planning needs, such as the preparation of wills and other documents for execution. Outside of school, Marisela started working with a boutique immigration firm. Marisela is the proud daughter of an immigrant father and wanted to be a helping hand in the immigrant community. Upon graduation, Ms. Arredondo took her talents to a personal injury firm helping her injured clients fight against pharmaceutical companies that were releasing defective products on the market and failing to warn its patients of the dangerous side effects associated with their medications. However, her love for criminal defense never went away. Ms. Arredondo left her paying position and started shadowing a Board Certified criminal defense attorney in Houston. All she wanted to do was learn how to advocate and assist clients that found themselves having to navigate the criminal justice system. Marisela had one more thing to accomplish - practicing criminal defense in central Texas. In July 2018, Ms. Arredondo relocated to Austin, Texas and began her work at Peek and Toland. Marisela currently handles cases ranging from first-degree felonies to misdemeanor charges all over central Texas counties. Marisela also represents clients on the federal level.

Nicolás Arroyo

Nicolás Arroyo, originally from Monterrey, Mexico, has been a valued member of the Peek Law Group legal team since 2017. He works with inbound U.S. and outbound global employment-based immigration law. Mr. Arroyo advises the firm's clients on Mexican law issues, International law, as well as, on domestic and global Immigration matters. He is an integral part of the firm's immigration department where he works to on-board new clients of the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Arroyo worked in the department of protection and legal affairs at the Mexican Consulate in Houston. He possesses years of professional legal experience with corporate law firms in the United States and Mexico. In addition to being a licensed attorney in Mexico, Mr. Arroyo has been certified by the Supreme Court of Texas as a Foreign Legal Consultant. Mr. Arroyo is not licensed in Texas. As a Foreign Legal Consultant, He assist the Partners at Peek Law Group, PLLC in the Firm's representation of domestic clients, reinforcing the firm's commitment to providing comprehensive legal services.

Pamela Moreno

Pamela was born in the small town of New Braunfels which is located in central Texas. As a 2008 graduate of New Braunfels High School, Pamela was a member of NBHS Student Council, NBHS National Honor Society, NBHS Unicorn Marching Band and NBHS Dance Team. She also participated a 2008 MidTexas Symphony Debutante. After High School, Pamela continued her education at the University Of Texas at Austin, where she studied abroad at the University of Cantabria in Santander, Spain. She graduated in May 2012 with Bachelors Degrees in both Spanish (Hispanic Studies) and International Relations and Global Studies with accompanying minors in Latin American Studies and Geography. For the school year of 2012-2013, Pamela served as a Bilingual Tutor in public service with Americorps: ACE- A Continuing Education. Through this organization she mentored children in grades K-2nd to attain their grade appropriate reading level. It is here where she was encouraged to apply to law school. In the Fall of 2013, Pamela began her journey to attain a Juris Doctorate from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas. She interned with Catholic Charities of the Houston-Galveston Archdiocese as well as a Boutique Bilingual Personal Injury Law Firm in Houston, Texas. Upon graduation she worked at an Immigration Law Firm where she began her passion for helping immigrants. Upon licensure by the Supreme Court Of Texas, Pamela returned to Catholic Charities to work in the Unaccompanied Children's Program, representing juveniles who were detained in Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) shelters and in immigration removal proceedings. Pamela has now relocated to Austin, TX working for Peek and Toland, PLLC, an Immigration and Criminal Defense Firm. Here she is currently the Managing Attorney for the Removal Department where she advocates tenaciously for immigrants at their bond hearings and those currently in removal proceedings. Pamela is also a Member of the Western District of The State of Texas.

Teresita Rodriguez

Teresita Rodriguez is a managing attorney working in Peek Law Group's immigration practice. Teresita moved to Austin, TX from Miami, FL, where she earned her law degree from Nova Southeastern University's law school in South Florida. Teresita was on the Dean's List and an active participant in the law school's immigration clinics and organizations. Teresita received two Bachelor's degrees from Florida International University in Miami, FL, where she was on the Dean List and very active in numerous student organizations. Teresita has worked in immigration law for over ten years, representing countless individuals in removal proceedings and before USCIS. As a child of immigrant parents, Teresita is dedicated to helping others achieve their American Dreams. Teresita's father was a Cuban political prisoner for over 17 years during Fidel Castro's regime and her mother was born in Cuba and moved to the United States under Operation Peter Pan, a large exodus that helped unaccompanied minors in Cuba travel to the United States between 1960 and 1962. For this reason, her passion for immigration law stems from the roots of her family, giving her unmatched passion for her clients. Teresita is zealous in her fight to help other individuals and their families achieve successful futures in the United States. Teresita is admitted to practice in the State of Florida and is fluent in Spanish.
