I was delighted to be appointed to the role of Trustee in October 2021, and I am excited to be working alongside Compass Counselling because it is a fantastic charity offering a much needed local service. I began my counselling studies in 1998 and still apply some of my learning and person-centreed approaches both to everyday life and the workplace. I currently work for a Northwest based charity that supports adults with a Learning Disability or a Mental Health diagnosis. During my career I have held several positions in Adult Health and Social Care, Education, and long stay hospitals. I am passionate about ensuring people have the very best opportunities available. My interests are technology and how it can enhance life experiences for us all, along with reading the occasional book. My free time is spent swimming or cycling.

Hello - I am a BACP registered counsellor who trained at JMU ( John Moore's Uni) in 2002. I have previously volunteered as a counsellor for Compass and at RASA Merseyside since 2003, as a rape and sexual abuse counsellor. I joined the Compass team in February 2020 to set up "Surviving to Thriving" - a new counselling strand for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This service provided one to one counselling, working through a programme of steps. In July 2022, I moved to the role of Counselling Service Manager within Compass.

Hello - I qualified as a Counsellor six years ago, and I am also a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I started volunteering at Compass in 2014 and was appointed as one of the two Counselling Service Managers in 2016, to manage our Workplace Support Service. Until recently I delivered anger management training for Compass. I also work as a tutor both at Compass and at a local college, delivering counselling training.

Hello - I joined the Compass team in November 2019 in order to support the volunteer and staff team to underpin the smooth running of the office. I am front of house to our clients, providing friendly and efficient information about our services and taking referrals. I liaise with our counsellors, on room bookings and all other aspects of the administrative support across the board to ensure the day to day running of the office is done so effectively.
I am self motivated and enthusiastic in delivering my role and providing a caring nature to our clients.
Hello - I am a BACP accredited counsellor with over 25 years experience in the sector, having started my career as a volunteer. I am a supervisor, qualified trainer and an experienced manager of counselling services. I have extensive experience of working with workplace contracts and providing post incident support services. I am also a qualified trainer and have designed and taught counselling training courses in a University setting.
A registered nurse who has worked in Health and Social Care and the voluntary sector for 43 years. Recently retired from working as the CEO of St Rocco's Hospice Warrington. Particularly interested in people and family dynamics and the impact of loss and grief in its wider sense. Organisationally interested in how statutory services and the voluntary sector can work together to improve assess quality of services for people. A mother of 3 and a granny to six little people who keep me grounded. A keen reader and traveller and a very new allotment owner.

I'm Paul Kelly, currently secretary to the Compass Board of Trustees and interim chair as well. I became a trustee in October 2021 after many years working for statutory agencies. With a MA in applied social studies. I was destined for either social work or the probation service. My eight years working for social services departments mainly featured community orientated work with disadvantaged groups, and then in a senior role as a child safeguarding specialist. Having moved to probation, I spent 23 years in a variety of practitioner and management roles, including pioneering work on disability equality, staff development and youth justice.
I am really excited to have joined Compass at a time when services such as those offered by the charity are in desperate short supply. I believe that now, more than ever, our communities need this invaluable support as such significant and historical events have unfoled over the past few years causing lots of uncertainty, anxiety and stress.
My experience is quite varied having started my career in accountancy and moving to procurement and contract management via some project management in a range of organisations. I have worked in the public sector such as the NHS and Local Authorities as well as Financial Services, Charities and Retail.
I have supported this experience with qualifying in accountancy via the AAT ( Association of Accounting Technicians) , Prince 2 (Project Management ), LLB (Hons) (Law Degree) and CIPS ( Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply).
In my free time ( not a lot of it) my interests are knitting ( yes knitting, I find it therapeutic), running and baking. I am also a lover of roller coasters and watching a good box set! I look forward to suporting Compass move forwards and grow.

More recently I was appointed as one of the two Counselling Service Managers. As part of this role I am the person who carries out the initial assessment for counselling, to explain the process, and answer any queries.
