Doug Sutton-Ramspeck, associate professor of English, had a short story, "Winter Sky," appear in The Georgia Review, vol 71.1 (Spring 2017) and a poem, "Nomads," in The Kenyon Review, online March 1, 2017. His book of poems, Naming the Field, is board approved at the LSU Press and will be published in fall 2018. He has won the 2016 McGinnis-Ritchie Award for Fiction for the short story "Messenger." The award is selected by the editors of Southwest Review at Southern Methodist University as one of the best works of fiction published in their journal that year. Doug Sutton-Ramspeck, associate professor of English, served as a mentor for two gifted high school students for the Adroit Journal Summer Mentorship Program. One of the student's poems received a Commended Winner Citation from the Foyle Young Poets of the Year competition. Doug Sutton-Ramspeck, associate professor of English, won the 2016-2017 Stephen E. Meats Poetry Prize from the editors of Midwest Quarterly for his poem "Original Birds." Joseph Green, professor of Psychology, was honored with the Ohio State Lima Faculty Award for Sustained Student Mentorship at the Academic Celebration, which recognizes efforts over several years in mentoring undergraduate scholarship or creative endeavors. Dr. Green has a been a constant presence in Ohio State Lima's Undergraduate Research Forum since its inception in 2009. In the years since he won the inaugural award for mentorship, Dr. Green has supervised 17 undergraduate projects. Those he has mentored have presented their findings at national conferences and OSU's Denman Undergraduate Research Forum. Green's student Emily Allen placed second in the psychology division at the 2017 Denman. Dr. Green also supervises students who pursue a diploma with Honors Research Distinction in Psychology. His students have co-authored publications in venues such as the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and Omega: Journal of Death and Dying. Dr. Joseph Green, professor of psychology, has published several articles. Two include undergraduate student researchers.

Margaret Young, associate professor of Music, presented at Music Teacher's National Association National Conference in Baltimore in March 2017, "A Closer Look at Group Piano Programs" and at Research in International Music Education Conference in Bath, England, in April 2017, "Exploring Global Trends in Keyboard Education." Margaret Young, associate professor of Music and director of the Honors Program, earned the Outstanding Teaching Award, which is a student-driven honor. Nominations are generated by the student body and students are a critical component of the selection process. Dr. Margaret Young has accepted the position as interim dean and director at The Ohio State University at Lima and will guide the campus for the next year. "It is an exciting time at Ohio State Lima with new programs, initiatives, and community partnerships underway," Dr. Young said. "I'm thrilled to be working alongside such a talented group of faculty, staff and students." Young, an associate professor of music, has taught undergraduate- and graduate-level courses on the Lima and Columbus campuses in addition to continuing education courses at Ohio State Lima. Her scholarly work has been published in international music education journals and in books published by Routledge. She is also a sought-after presenter at national and international conferences and as a piano masterclass clinician. Her service contributions include university and professional committees on assessment, high-impact practices, and curricular development. She served as honors director for Ohio State Lima from 2016-2019, assistant dean from 2019-2021, and most recently was a faculty fellow within the Office of Academic Enrichment exploring the implementation of high impact practices across Ohio State's regional campuses. She received Ohio State Lima's Distinguished Teaching Award in 2017. Young earned her bachelor's degree in music performance and management from Luther College, a master's degree in piano performance from Bowling Green State University, and a doctorate in Music and Human Learning from the University of Texas at Austin and joined the Ohio State Lima faculty in 2010.

Hannah Downer is a Lima undergraduate student who was a coauthor for this work. Dr. Ryan Norris, assistant professor of evolution, ecology and organismal biology, has published a book chapter. Dr. Ryan Norris, assistant professor of biology, earned the 2018 Outstanding Scholar Award for his work to reconstruct the evolutionary history of small mammals using genetic data. John A. Upshaw was Special Assistant and Chief Diversity Officer at The Ohio State University at Lima. Prior to his position at Ohio State Lima, Upshaw was employed at Rhodes State College, where he served as Assistant Professor in the Social Sciences and Humanities departments and as Director of Transfer, Residency, International and Multicultural Affairs. Upshaw also served as Student Retention Officer, Student Peer Advisor and Instructor at DeVry University. At Ohio State Lima, Upshaw created the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, or ODI, from ground zero and he was the administrator and founder of CLIFFS, College Level Intervention For Freshman Success. Prior to becoming Chief Diversity Officer, Upshaw served as Director of Student Life and Student Conduct Officer. In addition, Upshaw served on a number of Ohio State committees and made numerous contributions to the University in an effort to create a learning environment that promotes student success. He served as a member of the Consultation Assessment Team; as a steering committee member for the student retention initiative; as an oversight committee member for all staff searches; provided diversity training for all new employees; and was a member of Ohio State Lima's Diversity Committee. Upshaw also served as the advisor for the LGBTA, Multicultural and Human Trafficking student clubs on campus. Upshaw received the Ebony Award in 2009 during the 73rd Annual Celebration at the Bradfield Community Association. The Ebony Award recipients are honored for their efforts to promote harmony between the races in the community. Upshaw's work with the Lima Family YMCA Black Achievers program led to Ohio State Lima being recognized as the volunteer organization of the year in 2007-2008 and 2011-2012 and Upshaw received the individual 2010 Volunteer of the Year Award presented by the Lima YMCA Black Achievers. In 2015, Upshaw received the Cultural Awareness Award during the 30th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Commemorative Celebration. The recipients selected in this category have demonstrated an appreciation for diversity and evidenced skill in building and maintaining harmonious cross-cultural relationships. The recipient's achievements foster Dr. King's vision of unity among people of diverse cultural backgrounds. Ms. Temple D. Patton is the Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Co-chair of the Diversity Committee, and Coordinator for the Regional Business Management Program, Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University at Lima. Ms. Patton has been an advocate for diversity, inclusion, and equity in higher education since beginning 2002. Ms. Patton developed the D.R.E.A.M. (Dare to Reach Excellence, Achievement and Meaning) Scholarship Program, in her previous role as an admissions counselor. The DREAM Program was established in 2007, to recruit first-generation and underrepresented high school seniors in Allen County, Ohio. The program guides prospective students through the application process by offering a series of events throughout their senior year. Upon admittance to The Ohio State University at Lima, qualifying students receive a renewable scholarship to help offset a portion of their financial responsibilities, thereby lessening some of the barriers to achieve academic success. In 2016, the dean appointed Ms. Patton to serve as co-chair of the Diversity Committee. July 2017, Ms. Patton joined the Senior Leadership Team, serves on numerous committees across campus, and has served as a Board of Director for the Lima YMCA since 2009. In 2013, the State of the State, with the Ohio Department of Education recognized Patton for her work in higher education. The Ohio State University recognized Ms. Patton that same year, by honoring her with a Distinguished Staff Award. In 2004, Ms. Patton developed College Prep 8, to inform first-generation and underrepresented eighth grade students on college and university admissions processes before entering high school. Patrick Carroll, associate professor of psychology, was interviewed for KQED New's MindShift for "How to Find Balance When Too Much Self-Doubt Gets in the Way." MindShift explores the future of learning in all its dimensions. Patrick J. Carroll, PhD, is currently an associate professor of psychology at The Ohio State University-Lima. After receiving his PhD from the University of Florida, he was a National Institute of Mental Health Postdoctoral Fellow in the Social Psychology program at The Ohio State University from 2004 to 2007. His research focuses on the social revision of identity and the ultimate consequences of those identity revisions for mental health and well-being. Carroll earned the 2009 and 2016 Outstanding University Scholar awards for this work. He is a member of the elected Society of Experimental Social Psychology and has served as an editorial consultant for several journals and served as co-associate editor for a special issue of Basic and Applied Social Psychology and currently serves as associate editor for the journal of Imagination, Cognition, and Personality. Carroll also co-edited the 2010 Handbook of the Uncertain Self and lead editor on the 2015 Handbook of Personal Security through Taylor & Francis press. His work has been featured on numerous national and international outlets, including the "Banish Self-Doubt with New Science of Self-Confidence" virtual conference
