Chelsea Jones coordinates the processing of transcripts, maintains officlal departmental records and student and program data, guides students regarding procedures related to participation in Non-IU programs, and provides a range of support for IU unit-based programs.

Jennifer Engel

Job Titles:

Jennifer Engel, Ph.D. is the Associate Vice President for Education Abroad at Indiana University, having system-wide responsibility for education abroad programs on all IU campuses. Prior to coming to IU, Jennifer was the vice president for academic affairs and experiential learning at CIS Abroad, providing leadership in the areas of student learning and assessment; curriculum and program development; and innovation in education abroad. Before joining CIS Abroad, Jennifer served as the Executive Director of International Programs at Loyola University Chicago, responsible for partnership cultivation, program development, strategic planning, and the functional areas of: education abroad; international student and scholar services; English as a second language; the International House; and recruitment and support for the University's three Global Centers. This role built on her experience as Executive Director of Global Learning at the University of South Carolina, which included education abroad program development and administration as well as campus internationalization. She has also held administrative and teaching roles at Marygrove College. Jennifer earned a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy with a focus on international and comparative education from the University of South Carolina and an M.A. in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University. An Endeavour Fellow, Jennifer has been involved with NAFSA: Association of International Educators, The Forum on Education Abroad, and the Association of International Education Administrators, holding leadership positions, mentoring new professionals, and presenting nationally and internationally. Joseph Blevins

Joseph advises for the academic year and semester programs in Spain, Portugal and Latin America including CIEE: Barcelona ALA, Buenos Aires, Lisbon, Madrid-OC, Monteverde, Santiago Chile, Santiago DR, Seville LA, and Seville CNMJ; IES: Barcelona, Madrid and Quito; as well as Madrid-IU. Summer programs include CIEE: Alcala, Buenos Aires, Lisbon Internship, Santiago DR Public Health and Seville Internship; IES: Barcelona, Barcelona Internship, Quito, Santiago Chile Health Studies and Santiago Chile Internship. He has a Masters in International Affairs from the IU O'Neill School of Public & Environmental Affair.

Laura Kremer

Laura Kremer is responsible for all of the financial, budgetary, and data functions for IU Education Abroad and the IU High School Honors Program for Foreign Languages. She provides assistance to other departments, students and parents who have financial concerns or questions in regards to study abroad. She received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Louisville and has worked for Indiana University over 27 years, 25 of those years being with IU Education Abroad.

Lucia Calderón

Lucia advises for the following programs with CIEE: Prague and Tallinn; CIS: Florence; DIS: Copenhagen and Stockholm; IES: Milan and Rome; the following IU programs: Aix and Bologna; and Rome-ICCS. Summer Programs: CIS: Sorrento Internship; CIEE: Paris Music, Prague, and Prague Internship; DIS Copenhagen and Stockholm; and IES: Milan Internship, Paris, Paris Internship, Rome Internship, Rome LC, Rome & Paris MAC. She has a Masters in International Higher Education from Boston College and Universidad de Guadalajara.

Melissa Thorne

Melissa Thorne coordinates applications, logistics, and registration for exchange programs, CIS programs, non-business CIEE programs, and IU-Administered programs. She is also the consortium coordinator for the Bologna Consortial Studies Program.

Sam Hudson

Sam advises primarily for academic year and semester programs in Australia, England, Ireland, and Greece, including CYA Athens; IES: Christchurch, Dublin, London, London Health Policy & Practice and Sydney; IU programs: Adelaide, Canberra, Canerbury, Perth, Sydney and Wollongong. Summer program: Arcadia Sydney Internship; CIEE: Amsterdam+London; CYA Greece; IES: Dublin, Dublin Internship, London, London Internship, Spain & Morocco; Sydney Internship, Sydney Sport; LSE London. In his role as assistant director, Sam has responsibilities for program development, health, safety and risk management, student advising, and provides supervision for the education abroad peer advisor program. Sam studied abroad in Lancaster, England as an undergraduate. He has a Masters in International Development Studies from Ohio University and studied abroad in Ecuador as a graduate student.

Susan Carty is Director of Education Abroad at Indiana University (IU). She has worked in various areas of international education at IU for over 35 years. Susan has served in a variety of leadership positions in her professional association, NAFSA: Association of International Educators, at the national and regional level. Susan holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Scranton, Scranton, Pennsylvania, and an M.S. in International & Comparative Education from Indiana University. At IU, Susan has served as a member of various university-wide and campus search and screen, advisory and planning committees, including the Diversity Recruitment Committee of the IUB Strategic Planning Committee, Office of Student Ethics' Campus Review Board, the Office for Women's Affairs Staff Advisory Council, the Women's Leadership Conference Planning Committee, the Educational Task Force on Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual Concerns, and the Executive Council of the Commission on Multicultural Understanding. Susan manages the day-to-day operations of Education Abroad, serves as personnel representative and primary supervisor of both professional and support staff, and oversees institutional cooperation with several large co-sponsoring organizations.
