Tim Burger

Job Titles:
  • Owner / Operator
Even as a kid, Tim had an eye for business. He purchased his first piece of equipment at an auction as a teenager, cleaned it up and sold it, then used the profit to buy more. He soon fell in love with buying and selling, and started picking up free items from garage sales, scouring the free sections of the classified ads in the paper, finding great deals, cleaning and repairing items, and passing them on to others. At 16, he began buying and selling motorcycles, go-karts, cars, and other bigger items. This became a fun side business for him as he moved on in his career as an owner and operator of The Green Barn grocery store in Lynden. As The Green Barn grew and became an established fixture in the community, Tim expanded his interests and bought into Lynden Dutch Bakery. In the process of owning and operating both businesses, he gained first-hand knowledge of the true needs of the food service industry and became adept at recognizing areas that could become more streamlined and productive. Tim saw a huge need for quality used restaurant and food service equipment, and people began seeking him out when they needed equipment for their restaurants. Burger Buy and Sell became more specialized as time went on and Tim's reputation grew in the community and beyond. The addition of eBay listings allowed Burger Buy and Sell to ship across the nation, as well as occasionally shipping to Costa Rica, Italy, and other places around the world. As the Green Barn gained momentum and started to flourish, Tim sold out of the bakery and devoted his time to The Green Barn as well as Burger Buy and Sell. His knowledge and abilities continued to help both businesses succeed, and he began consulting for juice bars, grocery stores, bakeries, cafes and bars, helping with kitchen design and other consulting. Along with Brent Maier, the owner of Charlie's Auto Body in Lynden, Tim recently bought Grand Central Collision in Bellingham, where his entrepreneurial spirit will be a great asset yet again. Tim has been buying and selling for 25 years, and has cultivated a wealth of knowledge in commercial kitchen operations and design. He is well known in the community for his seemingly endless energy, his drive, and his willingness to help others. Tim lives in Lynden and loves the outdoors; when not working, he can be found hiking, kayaking, and enjoying life to the fullest.
