Andrea Heeter

Andrea is the Employee Training and Development Driver. She is responsible for designing training and development plans, defining the onboarding process, and supporting individual career development. Andrea joins the IHB from the Roche People & Culture organisation. Prior to moving to Basel, Andrea worked in California tech start-ups in various HR roles. Andrea holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from San Jose State University in California and a Master's in International Human Resource Management from the University of Essex.

James Wells

James Wells is a co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of the Center for Stem Cell and Organoid Medicine, an endowed professor at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Research Foundation in the Division of Developmental Biology, and the Director for Basic Research in the Division of Endocrinology. His research focuses on the processes by which gastrointestinal and endocrine organs form in the developing embryo and how they maintain systemic metabolic homeostasis.

Jennifer A. Lewis

Jennifer A. Lewis is the Hansjörg Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and a core faculty member of the Wyss Institute at Harvard University. Her research focuses on 3D printing of soft and living matter across multiple scales. She has made pioneering contributions to the programmable assembly of soft functional, structural, and biological materials. These novel architected materials may find potential application in printed electronics, optical and structural metamaterials, soft robotics, and 3D vascularised tissues and organs. Her work on microscale 3D printing was highlighted as one of the "10 Breakthrough Technologies" by the MIT Technology Review, while her bioprinting research was named "one of the top 100 science stories" by Discover Magazine.

Lorenz Studer

Régine Gérard

As a lab manager, Régine oversees the team's working spaces, ensuring that they operate in a safe, compliant and efficient manner. Régine's research interests are largely related to deriving diverse cell types from primary human samples, and using them as the building blocks for complex in vitro models. She has extensive experience as a research associate in the academic and industrial setting, including broad expertise in organoid and organ-on-a-chip technology and immunocompetent models.

Yanyan Hou

Job Titles:

Yanyan is a Senior Research Associate. She completed her Master study in Biochemistry in Singapore. Since then, she has been working in research institutes in Singapore and Switzerland in the fields of molecular, cellular and organoid biology. She has spent 5 years working on retinal organoids. At IHB, she diversifies her experience with organoid models and is working on gastruloid and tumoroid models.
