Originally from Edmonton in Alberta Canada, Douglas C. Kunal Angra, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist with specialized training in cosmetic dermatology. He attended the University of Chicago for his undergraduate studies, followed by Howard University for his medical degree and residency training in dermatology.
After residency, Dr. Angra completed the distinguished American Society of Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship program at Cosmetic Laser Dermatology in San Diego, CA. Inspired by his father to choose a profession that provided a valuable service to his community, Mitchel P. Goldman, MD, started practicing medicine in 1982 and completed his dermatology residency in 1986. Dr. Groff graduated from Penn State University with the goal of becoming a doctor. He entered medical school at PCOM in Philadelphia and received the highly-coveted U.S. Naval Health Professions Scholarship Award.
After graduating at the top of his class, Dr. Groff moved to San Diego to begin his postgraduate work. He completed a surgical internship at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, and, upon graduation, was accepted into flight school at the U.S. Naval Aerospace Medicine Institute in Pensacola, Florida. As a Flight Surgeon, Dr. Groff was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, California and accumulated over 200 hours of flight time in the F/A-18 Hornet. He also deployed to the Persian Gulf aboard the USS Nimitz, accruing flight time and taking care of sick and injured Marines and sailors.
Once he completed a 3-year flight tour at MCAS Miramar, Dr. Groff was selected into the dermatology program at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego. During his residency, he trained under one of the top cosmetic laser surgeons in the world. Upon graduation, Dr. Groff had performed more laser procedures than any other graduating resident in the country. Board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology, he spent two years as the Department Head of Dermatology and Laser Surgery at Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan. Dr. Groff is extremely proud of his time in the Navy and serving his country.

Many native San Diegans can attest that living in sunny San Diego comes with tons of perks, one being enjoying every day to the fullest. So what does a local do on any San Diego day? Aside from going to work or school during the week, San Diego locals can enjoy an after-school ice cream or an after-work cool drink to reward themselves for their hard work during the day. Yes, east-coasters have after school or work hot chocolates, but the limitation from the weather can be a bummer. The year-long weather also allows for fruit and vegetables to be in season all the time. The ability to enjoy a cool drink or snack outside, at any time, makes San Diego an ideal place to live.
Warm evenings year round also make San Diego a hotspot, no pun intended, for adventure lovers. Great weather allows for a hike, surf, swim, or any outdoor activity whenever one desires to have fun. Danger-seekers can go skydiving, rock climbing, or zip-lining across California's longest zip-line. However, if activities like cliff-diving are not your thing, there are tons of other activities, such as Comic-con and the San Diego County Fair.
San Diego's sandy beaches are perfect for getting some sun and relaxing on the shore. For example, La Jolla Shores Beach is a long beach along the San Diego Coast. It is a wonderful place to watch the sunset, read a book, have a picnic, and more. All these perks come with living in a place with ideal weather all year long.
