The Loess Hills is a unique area running north and South of the Missouri River for almost 200 miles. We are located in the Northwest corner of Iowa about 20 miles from where Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota meet together. This studio was started as a family hobby which grew out of a love of glass. Jim Thomas has worked with glass since 1982 when he was employed in college by an art gallery to work on restoration and repair of windows. Josh (his youngest son) took up the hobby in 2006. For the last 14 years they have worked primarily with lead came windows utilizing beveled glass, but in 2014, we took our first glass blowing class. We began renting studio time in Omaha, NE. After numerous trips to Omaha, we started considering the possibility of having our own hot shop. An opportunity came in September 2019 to start the process of establishing Loess Hills Glass Studio LLC. On November 25, 2019 we started blowing glass onsite for the first time...
