Carol Battershell

Carol is a seasoned energy executive with over 35 years' experience. Carol spent 10 years with the U.S. Department of Energy where she led multi-billion-dollar technical programs, ran the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy field operations office, and was a key contributor on two multi-agency energy policy reviews. Carol's most recent roles at the Department of Energy were Principal Deputy Director and Acting Director in the Office of Policy. Prior to the Department of Energy, Carol was with BP for 25 years where she held a wide range of senior executive roles. With BP, she held roles in operations management, strategy development, financial management, and policy development. Carol's last role at BP was in London as Vice President, Policy and Strategy for BP Alternative Energy. Carol has served on the Board of Directors of Arotech, a portable energy solution and training simulator company. Ms. Battershell has also served as a member of the California Fuel Cell Board, the European Union Hydrogen Initiative Advisory Council, and the U.S. Department of Energy Freedom Car and Fuel Partnership Advisory Board. Carol holds a BS in Engineering from Purdue University with a specialization in environmental engineering, and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.

Gijs Voskuyl

Gijs is a Partner and member of the executive committee at DIF Capital Partners with over 15 years in investment management experience. Gijs joined DIF in 2008 and has extensive working experience in renewable energy, transport and utility sectors. Previously, Gijs worked at ING Wholesale Banking, where he started his career in the structured finance team in 2005. Gijs holds a Master's degree in Economics of Infrastructure from the Technical University of Delft.

Grant Arnold - CEO, President

Grant leads BluEarth's executive team and guides our strategic growth. Grant joined BluEarth in 2011 as Vice President, Business Development and, subsequently, he was promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer. In 2015, Grant became BluEarth's President and Chief Executive Officer. Grant has over 25 years of commercial and technical experience in the energy sector including wind, hydro and solar development, construction and operations, natural gas E&P, natural gas operations, acquisitions, divestitures and business development. Grant has worked in Canada, the US and internationally. Prior to joining BluEarth, Grant held several leadership roles in the renewable energy and natural gas business units at Suncor. Grant was responsible for overseeing Suncor's Canadian wind power portfolio, including, at the time, joint venture interests for over 750 MW in development, under construction and in operation. Grant received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Alberta. He also has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary. Grant is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and the Institute of Corporate Directors. In September 2021, Grant was named a 2022 Clean16 and Clean50 award honoree by Delta Management Group and the Clean50 organization in recognition of his work to advance the cause of sustainability and clean capitalism in Canada.

Jamey Fitzgibbon

Jamey is responsible for all areas of regulatory, engineering and construction and ensuring successful project execution. Jamey brings to BluEarth over 35 years' experience in operations, project management, finance and leadership. Prior to joining BluEarth in 2017, Jamey held senior leadership positions in the energy and financial sectors. Most recently, Jamey was the Senior Vice President, Christina Lake and Special Projects with MEG Energy. Jamey has also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Oilsands Quest Inc., Vice President, Resource Development for OPTI Canada Inc and Vice President at TD Securities. Earlier in his career, Jamey worked in the oil sands and heavy oil industry with Esso Resources, ELAN Energy and Ranger Oil. Jamey has a Bachelor of Science (Chemical Engineering) degree from Queen's University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Calgary, and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Kelly Matheson-King - COO, Founder

Kelly is a co-founder of BluEarth and has held the position of Chief Operating Officer since 2015. Kelly is responsible for leading our operations team across Canada and the United States, ensuring the safe and reliable operations of all of our renewable energy facilities. Kelly also leads BluEarth's Health, Safety & Environment, Communications, and Risk & Compliance teams. Kelly has over 20 years of experience in the North American renewable power sector. During that time, Kelly has provided key leadership in the permitting, development, and operations of many pioneering wind, hydroelectric and solar power facilities across a range of jurisdictions and power markets. Prior to BluEarth, Kelly held leadership roles at TransAlta Corporation and Canadian Hydro Developers, providing oversight of the development of greenfield renewable energy projects and the operations of a diverse fleet of conventional and renewable power generation facilities across Canada and the United States. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science from the University of Calgary, and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors. She is a mentor with Creative Destruction Lab, and a founding member and mentor with Nature Canada's Women for Nature.

Kim Carter

Kim is responsible for delivering our human resources strategy, policy, and programs, and for providing functional leadership and guidance to our corporate and operations management teams. Kim has over 20 years of human resources experience. Prior to joining BluEarth in 2018, Kim was a member of the human resources team at Repsol where she was responsible for ensuring the successful integration of Talisman Energy with Repsol, to form one of the world's largest global energy groups. Kim has provided strategic human resources support and delivery for diverse organizations from start-up organizations as well as large global companies in the oil and gas, chemicals and manufacturing industries, including Calfrac Well Services, Devon Energy, Talisman Energy and Repsol. Kim studied Sociology at the University of Calgary and at the University of Lethbridge and has a Masters of Business Administration from Royal Roads University. Kim is a member of Chartered Professionals in Human Resources - Alberta (CPHR), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and World at Work.

Nick Boyd - Chief Investment Officer

Nick is responsible for leading the growth of BluEarth's portfolio, including all aspects of project development through construction completion. He also leads acquisitions, key partnerships and plays a key role supporting the development of corporate strategy and execution. Since joining BluEarth in 2012, Nick has been involved in nearly all of BluEarth's projects either through development, acquisition, or financing. Prior to joining BluEarth, Nick worked for Union Bank where he focused on project finance transactions and corporate loan facilities for renewable and thermal power projects and companies. Nick holds a Bachelor of Management (Finance) from the University of Lethbridge and a Master of Business Administration from Queen's University.

Paul Huebener

Paul was previously the Partner and Head of Americas for DIF Capital Partners. Paul has over 25 years of experience in the acquisition and financing of energy projects and has completed energy, infrastructure, and transportation related transactions in Canada, the United States and Southeast Asia. Paul also worked as an engineer in the utility and energy industries. He has a Master of Business Administration from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University.

Rick Brouwer - Chairman

Rick was previously the President & CEO of Iracore, joining the organization in 2011. Iracore is a leading designer, producer and applicator of elastomeric coatings to pipelines, fittings and other equipment used in demanding industrial applications. Rick was also previously with ATCO Group, a Calgary-based company with over 9,000 employees and $14 billion in assets spanning the utility, midstream and logistics industries. His roles included President of ATCO Power from 2006 to 2010, President of ATCO Pipelines from 2004 to 2006, and President of ATCO Midstream from 2000 to 2004. Rick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta, and has attended the Richard Ivey School of Business (Marketing Management).

Scott Hossie

Scott is responsible for overseeing all operations in Canada and the U.S. to ensure smooth day-to-day operations as well as bringing new facilities into the operating portfolio. Prior to this, Scott was Vice President, Origination where he was responsible for generating acquisition opportunities, negotiating key commercial agreements and partnerships, and completing project financings. Scott joined BluEarth in 2011 as Director, Project Development and Construction where he played a key role in the acquisition, development and construction of BluEarth's wind, hydro and solar projects. Scott has 20 years' experience in the development of energy and infrastructure projects. Prior to joining BluEarth, Scott held management positions at TransAlta Corporation and Canadian Hydro Developers. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Masters Degree in Geography from the University of Guelph, and he completed the Executive Leadership Program at Queen's University.

Shaun Wrubell - Chief Legal Officer, Secretary, VP

Shaun leads the legal, corporate secretary, land contracts and privacy functions. He is also responsible for overseeing the ESG strategy at BluEarth. He works closely with the board of directors, shareholder and executive team on corporate governance matters. Since joining BluEarth in 2016, Shaun has played a key role in numerous project acquisitions, negotiation of key partnership agreements and our expansion into new markets. Shaun is a corporate lawyer with experience advising energy and power companies in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, corporate governance, project development, joint ventures, ESG matters, government relations and lobbying, enterprise risk management, securities and capital markets and general commercial matters. Prior to joining BluEarth, Shaun was Senior Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary at Canadian Oil Sands Limited up to the time of its sale to Suncor and, prior to this, he was a corporate associate at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. In 2022, he was a finalist for a National Post and ZSA Legal Recruitment Western Canada General Counsel Award in the ESG category. Shaun has a Juris Doctor (Law) and a Bachelor of Arts (Political Studies) from the University of Saskatchewan, a certificate in ESG, Climate Risk and the Law from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Competent Boards ESG and Sustainability Designation (GCB.D).

Sheri Wise - CFO

Sheri joined BluEarth shortly after the company was founded in 2010 and she is responsible for overseeing strategic financial and capital planning, finance, accounting, tax and business systems. Prior to her role as CFO, Sheri was Executive Vice President, Controller overseeing the accounting, tax and administrative functions. Since joining BluEarth, Sheri has played a key role in multiple corporate reorganizations as well as in the growth and development of the company's insurance portfolio and payroll functions. Sheri has more than 20 years' experience, including more than 15 years in the renewables sector. Before joining BluEarth, Sheri held senior level accounting and treasury positions at Canadian Hydro Developers and TransAlta Corporation. Sheri holds a Bachelor of Applied Business Administration, Accounting (Honours) and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA).

Vincent Liu

Vincent is a Managing Director in DIF Capital Partner's Toronto office. With over 15 years of experience, Vincent is primarily responsible for origination, structuring and execution of transactions in North America. Prior to joining DIF, he was a Vice President in the North American Infrastructure group at Macquarie Capital, the advisory and principal investment division of Macquarie Group, where he was primarily focused on origination and execution of advisory, financing and principal investment mandates in the energy infrastructure and transportation sectors. Prior to Macquarie Capital, Vincent worked in the Infrastructure and Project Finance group at BMO Capital Markets where he was primarily responsible for advising public and private sector clients in the North American infrastructure and power sectors. Vincent holds a Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
