Lucy Blake

Lucy Blake is the owner and director of Brighton Make Up School. Having trained in make up nearly 20 years ago in her home-town, London, she started her career working for the BBC on programmes such as Ready Steady Cook & Flog It and has experience working for Chanel 5 on Sport on Five & Footy Shorts as well as with celebrities such as Craig Charles & Ray Harryhausen. Lucy has also worked as a make up artist for the BMA agency, the New York Film Academy and for London model agencies on upcoming models such as Alexa Chung. Outside of make up, Lucy has also worked in casting as an assistant on projects such as James Bond , Footballers' Wives & Bad Girls as well as appearances herself (Eastenders, the Office, The Bill, various adverts and also on stage) having trained in drama and been a student at the Brit School. Whilst living in New Zealand Lucy presented a regional cooking show called Battle of the Chefs. All of these diverse experiences have given Lucy an excellent background and in-depth understanding of the industry. Over the years, whilst becoming a proud mother of four, she has worked as a freelance make up artist and has been the owner and director of Brighton make up school since 2014. The creativity and broad spectrum of work that the world of Make Up offers is her passion and being able to work in the industry doing something she loves is a blessing. she believes that in Make Up,as in life, you can never stop learning. Lucy continues to work as a freelance make up artist as well as her work with BMU Sophie Blake is the sister of BMU's director Lucy Blake and a new member of the team. Her love of make up started when she became a model in the 90's appearing in numerous music videos, TV commercials, magazines. In 1999 she moved into television presenting where she had to master doing her own make up for the majority of the shows she worked on (its not the glamour everyone expects!) and so has had years of experience perfecting her skills. Starting out with Channel5 interviewing premiership footballers in the back of a limo she also worked for BBC1, BBC2 and ITV covering everything from football, wakeboarding, wrestling, techno games and sailing. in 2003 she joined Sky Sports and worked for them until 2016 predominantly covering Speedway, Pool, Table Tennis, Fish O Mania, Bowling and British Superbikes. She as also recently worked for Eurosport and BT Sport. Sophie also hosts events and award ceremonys. During all this time her passion for make up and experimenting creatively has continued to grow and she has expanded her knowledge by training on numerous courses & training as a Make Up Artist. Having recently moved to Brighton she is very excited to become a PA and the head of social media at BMU alongside her sister.

Romy Medina

Romy completed an in house apprenticeship in theatrical hair and make-up at one of Germany's most prestigious theatres, the Deutsches Theatre in 2009. She has since worked on a wide range of productions covering film, advertising, editorial and opera in both Germany and the UK.She has worked for MTV, Marie Claire magazine, Studio Babelsberg, the Berlin Fashion Film Festival and Glyndebourne Opera Productions and can offer students an insight into various aspects of the make-up industry including set etiquette, working for different types of stage production and suitable products and techniques for working with film and photographic mediums. SARAH CHAPPLE

Sarah is a professional hair stylist and make up artist based in Brighton and has been in the hair and make up industry for over ten years. Before moving to Brighton in October 2014 Sarah worked as a hair and make up artist for weddings and vintage events in London and the South East and has since received diplomas for bridal and vintage hair and make up. Since 2014 Sarah has become a successful owner of a hair and make up business in Brighton and is a qualified teacher in the industry. After many years experience as a stylist at award winning salons and extensive training to become a specialist in bridal hair and make up, Sarah is highly experienced in bridal beauty and expertly trained in classic, contemporary and vintage styling. As a qualified teacher, Sarah now has over three years experience teaching with Brighton Make up School sharing her skills and knowledge with students who share the same passion for hair and make up styling. Sarah's work has also been featured on Channel Four and highly regarded wedding websites such as Love My Dress, Rock My Wedding and Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Make Up & Hair Stylist With over a decade of Makeup and Hair experience working at the forefront of the fashion industry. A qualified, recognised teacher regularly taking guest lectures and masterclasses within the London area. Sian is an international published celebrity make up artist working with Music artists, on TV and regularly for Red Carpet and press events.
