Charlotte Ramsay

Charlotte is one of our musculoskeletal clinicians treating a range of MSK problems such as lower back and neck pain, along with joint muscle and tendon problems. Treatment methods are tailored to the individual but can include acupuncture, manipulation, fascial release techniques and electrotherapy. Charlotte has been with us since 2010; she has a previous background in weight training and has innate passion for health and well-being. James Fleming

Job Titles:

James joined the team in late 2020, following the completion of his BSc Physiotherapy degree at the University of Salford. James spent over 18 months working closely with Stuart Cosgrove learning the different assessment/treatment modalities, to which he uses today. James has a keen interest in sporting related injuries from initial diagnosis to end stage rehab. He also treats a wide range of Musculoskeletal injuries from non sporting backgrounds and commonly works with late stage stroke rehabilitation patients. He regularly partakes in physical activity and has recently spent time in Lanzarote helping triathletes prepare for their IRONMAN events. James is preparing himself for a postgraduate acupuncture course with the AACP and has a keen interest in developing his CPD file by enrolling on further courses. Additionally, James works full time at the NHS as a rotational Physiotherapist covering different areas of the profession such as Respiratory Medicine, Acute Stroke, Orthopaedics and Critical Care. He is currently on a Respiratory Ward and works amongst the on call rota for acutely unwell patients.

John Ramsay

John is a fully qualified Physiotherapist Bsc (HONS). John specialises in musculoskeletal conditions including back and neck pain, joint problems, sports injuries and muscle/tendon/ligament problems. He is very passionate about his job and this is shown during his sessions, where he is able to fully explain in an understandable way how to fix the problems the patient is suffering with. John has completed his acupuncture course (AACP) which he uses as a treatment modality along with manipulations, electrotherapy, soft tissue work and manual therapy. John is also a fully qualified (Level 3 Premier Diploma) personal trainer graduating in 2004. He is a motivated and knowledgeable therapist which is reflected in his personal training sessions. The sessions are individually tailored to the needs of the client and take account of any current or pre-existing injuries. He also has qualifications in nutrition and can offer tailored diet plans to meet your fitness goals. John has been a competitive bodybuilder and has competed at the British Finals. However he is now actively involved in cross fit which he has a passion for.

Stuart Cosgrove

Stuart first qualified in 1982, after 5 years working full time in the NHS, he started his own private clinic in 1987. He was also studying post grad acupuncture, manipulation and soft-tissue techniques. During the 1990's, he teamed up with his mentor, Ian Wood to teach other physios acupuncture and manipulation. He ran a number of these courses during the 90's. At this time he also extensively lectured to medical institutes, sports injury conferences, and gyms. He also lectured on the Masters Degree course for strength and conditioning at Bolton University. He has treated multiple world champions from the bodybuilding fraternity, namely Dorian Yates and Ernie Taylor for 10 years. He was also Ricky Hattons Physio for 8 years His Bodybuilding career encompassed wins in the Juniors, Novice and Mr Britain. He also won a NABBA Mr UK title in 1987. In 1989 he won a UK Squatting competition, whilst in the 90's he won 3 Iron Man Powerlifting titles.

Tom Shaw

Tom joined the Cosgroves team in early 2017 after completing a BSc Hons degree in sports rehabilitation at Bolton University. Tom uses various treatment modalities in his sessions along with a clear explanation of the effects and expectations of these modalities. Although Tom has clinical experience in treating common conditions like joint pain, neck pain, back pain and musculoskeletal injures, he also enjoys working through functional exercise rehabilitation with his patients to help them get back to 100% in their sports. Tom is also qualified in kinesiology taping level 2 and uses this regularly to help with postural correction, injured tissue drainage and movement support. In his time away from clinic Tom also holds the position as head therapist at a local football club where he deals with sport specific injuries/ pitch side treatments and match day organisation.
