Dr. Emily Poynter

Emily grew up in rural Ottawa. She had the dream and drive to work with animals from a very young age. Growing up she had horses, dogs, and cats. Emily started her career in the veterinary field as a Registered Veterinary Technician here in Nova Scotia in 2008. After a few years in the field, she made the decision to further her education and fulfill her aspiration of being a Veterinarian. Emily attended the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI where she completed the DVM program. She came back to live in beautiful Nova Scotia after graduation with Dan, baby Audrey and their crew of furry children - Ellie, Marner and Whirly Durdle. Having fulfilled the dream of becoming a Veterinarian, Emily is now so excited to embark on the adventure of small business ownership. She is so happy to have created Hammonds Plains Veterinary Hospital alongside her co-owner William, her husband Dan, and great friend Deidra.

Dr. Kristen Hill

Kristen grew up in Tantallon, Nova Scotia. She loves animals and had a strong interest in science from a young age. While completing her Bachelor's degree in Biology at Dalhousie University she decided to pursue veterinary medicine. Kristen attended the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI. Since becoming a veterinarian, Kristen has worked in both general practice and emergency medicine within HRM. Kristen currently lives in Timberlea with her family. When not at work, she enjoys spending quality time with her 1-year old, Lily, her husband, Brendon, and their dog and cat, Kovey and Biggles.

Dr. William Hoskin

William was born and raised in Head of St. Margaret's Bay, NS. From a young age he developed a keen interest in science and a love for animals. After graduating from high school, Will pursued his interests and completed a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science and Aquaculture at the Nova Scotia Agricultral College before completing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI. Since becoming a veterinarian, Will has practiced primarily in the Tantallon area. During this time he met and worked with Dr. Emily Poynter. Learning of their similar drive and ambitions they knew that one day they would embark in clinic ownership. In 2019 this dream was finally realized. Hammonds Plains Veterinary Hospital was born from a desire to provide a high standard of veterinary care as well as an excellent client experience to the community.
