Heather M. Boxeth

Heather M. Boxeth holds three degrees; Juris Doctorate, Masters of Education with a Multicultural and Bilingual Emphasis and Bachelor's Degree. Heather M. Boxeth is a private criminal defense and immigration attorney. She is a former public defender. She is knowledgeable on the crossover between immigration and criminal law and frequently advises criminal attorneys with respect to the immigration consequences of a client's conviction and/or plea deal. Ms. Boxeth earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law; a two Certificates in International & Comparative Law from; Barcelona Institute and Paris Institute co-sponsored by ESSEC, the law faculty at the University of Paris I, and the Institut Catholique de Paris, it was the first summer program on the European continent sponsored by a U.S. law school. She has spent extensive time living, working and traveling in Mexico, Latin American countries, Western and Eastern Europe and southeast Asia. She also undertook courses in NAFTA and Mexican law. As a law student she was a member of the USD's International Law Journal. Ms. Boxeth is a member of a number of legal and professional associations, including California Attorneys for Criminal Justice (CACJ) as a Board Member, the San Diego Criminal Defense Bar Association (CBDA), the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the National Lawyers Guild (NLG), and the California Public Defenders Association (CPDA). Ms. Boxeth is admitted to the California State Bar. She is an active member of the San Diego Immigrant Rights Consortium, made up faith, labor, legal and community organizations- which seeks to educate the public about immigrants and to support immigrants and citizens in San Diego County with often complicated immigration issues. Prior to becoming an attorney she was a public school educator working with at-risk children and an active member of professional organizations and management teams. Additionally she was an Educational consultant for an educational publishing company providing staff development to school districts throughout the western United States.
