Rory Dorman

Job Titles:
  • Partner
Rory joined MASECO in its infancy at the start of 2009, the 3rd advisor on the team following co-founders Josh and James. He was drawn to MASECO's early niche of helping US expats in the UK manage the myriad complexities of investing tax efficiently on both sides of the Atlantic, the result of the initial non-dom legislation coming through in April 2008. This was a new and challenging time for UK residents in America, and Rory very much enjoyed developing compelling investment solutions for clients who were unsure where to turn, seemingly stuck between a rock and a hard place. Since then Rory has developed a diverse group of loyal clients, the majority of whom he has been working with for several years, helping to navigate through a wide range of financial complexities, looking to reassure and educate in equal measure. Rory's financial "bedside manner" has tilted his client base towards individuals who have accumulated or inherited significant wealth but lack the time or the temerity to manage it as successfully as possible, and consequently look to the guidance that Rory brings. He is a passionate advocate on the financial planning side, having at first hand seen the destruction of family fortunes through poor decision making and ineffective financial planning. IN HIS SPARE TIME... On the rare occasions Rory escapes domestic bliss (three young kids make for a busy home life), he can either be found hiking up a mountain with a pair of skis strapped to his back, or out on the water clinging to a kite and trying not to drown. This provides an important check to a life that can be somewhat dominated by gastronomy, both exploring up and coming restaurants, or exercising his own culinary prowess entertaining at home.
