Jacob Brand received his bachelor's degree in Fisheries and Wildlife from Michigan State University and his master's degree in Biology with a focus on Natural Resources Management from Grand Valley State University. He worked as a GIS Technician at Michigan State University for 3 years before leaving the University to pursue his master's degree. Jacob joined the Michigan Department of Environment Great Lakes and Energy Water Resources Division in 2022. He serves as the Environmental Quality Analyst for the communities in Midland and Sanilac Counties fielding questions and reviewing permit applications for wetlands, inland lakes and streams, and the great lakes shoreline.
Jennifer has a Bachelor of Applied Science, Honours Civil Engineering, from the University of Windsor, graduating in 1998. Jennifer is a manager at Hubbell, Roth & Clark and has been a Professional Engineer since 2002. She also has been a part of the NASSCO Certified Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program since 2009 and a Certified Floodplain Manager since 2016. Jennifer has over 24 years of professional experience working in the field of hydraulics and hydrology. She believes the MSFA annual conference is invaluable to floodplain and stormwater specialists for the networking opportunities, education, CFM exam and yearly CFM credits.

Ken Hall, PEM, is from Detroit, MI, where he graduated Cass Technical High School with an Architecture and Design degree. Continuing college studies at Michigan State University, Ken graduated in 2014 with and Urban & Regional Planning B.S. Degree. Utilizing the skills and knowledge learned from school, sports, and other organizations; Ken obtained a job working as a contract employee for the City of Lansing from 2014-2016, overseeing the Floodplain Acquisition Program. Ken, then accepted the role as Land Use Planner in 2016, for the region's MPO (metropolitan planning organization), conducting Land Use planning and activities for Mid- Michigan's Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton counties. In 2021, Ken returned to the City of Lansing, to fill the position of Hazard Mitigation Coordinator; where his main duty is to mitigate and or eliminate hazards that threaten the City of Lansing. Ken has since restarted the DREW( Dam Removal Exploratory Workgroup), floodplain property acquisition program, and much more. The various skills and knowledge obtained from a planning background assists Ken in creating mitigation projects that incorporate Emergency Management as well as planning, broadening the range of potential ideas, collaboration, and projects.

Linda Hansen has a bachelor's and master's degrees in Environmental Engineering from Michigan Technological University. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Michigan and is also a Professional Wetland Scientist. She worked in environmental consulting in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan for 10 years prior to joining EGLE Water Resources Division in 2012. Linda served as an Environmental Quality Analyst in the western Upper Peninsula for 4 years before taking on her current job duties as UP District Floodplain Engineer in 2016. In her current position she completes hydraulic reviews for public and private projects, and serves as the NFIP liaison for all 15 UP counties.
Mary Bednar has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in Michigan and California. She is also a Certified Floodplain Manager. Mary has worked in stormwater and floodplain management for over 30 years. She has worked as private and public sectors of Civil Engineering. Her latest employer is the Clinton Township which is the largest Township in Michigan. She has been with the Township for over 20 years. As the Director of Public Services, she able to encompass stormwater and floodplain best management practices in projects throughout the Township.

Rebecca Wolters, P.E., is Contech's Stormwater Consultant for the State of Michigan. She is a graduate of Calvin College with a B.S. Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and of The University of Iowa with an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She is a Professional Engineer, licensed in the State of Michigan. Rebecca has over a year of experience with Contech providing technical assistance to stormwater design engineers across Michigan. Before Contech, she was an engineering consultant in the geotechnical and water resources fields at NTH Consultants, Ltd. She is excited to serve as the Region 4 Representative for the Michigan Stormwater-Floodplain Association as this organization provides a collaborative forum for discussing our State's stormwater and floodplain needs.
