Abbi Freer

Job Titles:

Abbi has more than fifteen years HR experience. Starting work straight from school, Abbi built on her early roles in recruitment into a CIPD qualified, generalist HR Manager. Abbi has worked in standalone HR roles but most enjoys working in a team environment proactively partnering with managers and colleagues. Abbi manages all things across the operational HR function as well as delivering on projects to enhance our working practices.

Adam Howe

Adam joined the Club in 1997. He started his career with a Lloyd's syndicate in 1983, spending seven years as Assistant Underwriter on the Hull and Yacht books before moving to the Lloyd's broker in the North European Marine Division, broking Hull, War, P&I and Liability business along with the specialist UK Nuclear and Trade Disruption risks.

Adetayo Haastrup

Adetayo joined the Club's IT support team in May 2023 as a Service Desk Analyst and brings several years' experience of IT support across different organisations.

Agapi Terzi

Job Titles:

Agapi joined the Club's Europe and Africa Syndicate in December 2019 as a Claims Executive. She previously worked at the claims department of another International Group Club. In 2021, Agapi moved to the Club's Piraeus office as a Senior Claims Consultant servicing mainly the Greek and Cypriot membership, dealing with a variety of P&I, Legal Cost Cover and Yacht claims. Agapi is a Greek qualified lawyer and holds an LLM in International Maritime Law from City University of London and the International Group P&IQ Diploma. Agapi speaks fluent Greek and English.

Alexander McCooke

Alex is a practising solicitor and Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He joined the Club in 2010 and has worked in various positions, including in our European Claims Team and as LCC Manager. In his Offshore role, Alex advises on claims and contracts related to oil and gas, renewables and specialist subjects such as towage and salvage. He has sat on several industry drafting committees and chairs the IG's Education Committee, which runs the P&IQ programme.

Ali Gürün

Ali is President of Sanmar Shipyards and brings to the Board extensive experience in the construction and operation of tugboats as well as harbour towage and pilotage services. Based in Turkey, Ali is passionate about innovation and technology and has led the development of several pioneering vessels including the world's first LNG powered tugboats and remote operated commercial vessel. Ali has a Master's Degree in Marine Engineering from the Istanbul Technical University Department of Marine Engineering and is a Board Member of the Turkish Environmental Protection Foundation.

Ali Kielany

Ali joined the Club's Europe & Africa syndicate as an Assistant Claims Executive in 2017, where he handled P&I claims for Members across the region. He has since progressed to Claims Executive and has a particular focus for Members in the UK, Africa, Turkey, Italy and the Baltic States. Ali is also a part of the claims team in the Club's Yacht syndicate. In July 2023, Ali qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales.

Alice Wakeley

Alice joined the Club in February 2019. She was previously with the Standard syndicate underwriting Hull & Machinery, War and Yachts. Initially working in the Club's Yacht team, in May 2020 she moved to the Club's Offshore syndicate.

Alistair Cummings

Alistair joined the Club in 2018 as a Marketing Executive, working across a range of external and internal marketing communications and initiatives to support the Club's business plan. In 2021 he was promoted to Senior Marketing Executive, taking on responsibility for some of the Club's transformation and change projects, including marketing CRM management and more recently the website modernisation project. Alistair has a Master's degree in International Marketing with Tourism and Events and in 2021 received his Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing

Alkmini Biskanaki

Alkmini joined the Greek office of the Shipowners' Club in September 2019. She deals with P&I claims for the Greek and Cypriot membership, with a special focus on Personal injury claims. Alkmini had previously worked for 8 years in the Insurance and Claims Department of a reputable shipping company based in Athens. Alkmini holds a BSc in Business Administration and a MSc in Shipping Management.

Ammalia Amin

Job Titles:

Ammalia joined the company in in July 2014 and is now approaching her 10-year anniversary shortly. She is responsible for the collection of premiums and liaising with member/ brokers and underwriters in S E Asia, Australia & New Zealand , she is part of the company's credit control function in the Singapore branch. She has a graduate degree in accounting and has a wide range of experience in handling the region.

Amy Bingham

Amy joined the Club in October 2016, originally with the Offshore syndicate as Syndicate Assistant. In February 2018, she moved over to the Americas syndicate as Underwriting Assistant and has since worked her way up to Deputy Underwriter.

Amy Leverett

Amy joined the Club in April 2021; she previously spent six years working with the Superyacht team at Willis Towers Watson handling over 100 yacht accounts. She is currently a Deputy Underwriter with the Club's Yacht team.

Andrea Kilgannon

Andrea joined the Club's Finance Department in London in 2015 as Head of Finance. She previously worked at AIG as a Regulatory Controller.

Andrew Birch

Job Titles:

Andrew joined the Shipowners' Club in 2021 as an Underwriter in the Americas syndicate. Andrew started his career in underwriting at an International Group P&I Club in 2012 and has a background underwriting business in Southeast Asia, Canada, and Central and South America. Andrew is now primarily responsible for looking after the Club's Brazilian & Peruvian Members. Andrew is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and is ACII qualified.

Andrew Reekie

Andrew joined the Club in 2001 and is currently an Infrastructure Manager in the IT team.

Andrew Thorn

Andrew has ten years of experience working in the P&I industry; he has been employed in the Credit Control team at the Club since 2007 having joined from another International Group Club. On a day-to-day basis he is responsible for collection of premiums and liaison with member/brokers for the accounts including support and servicing of the accounts. This covers all Branches' offices. He has been a member of the Institute of Credit Management since 2010.

Anwar Biswas

Anwar joined the Club's Americas Syndicate in May 2023 as a Senior Claims Executive. He previously worked for a Greek shipowner where he was responsible for managing its insurance portfolio, which included its P&I, FD&D and H&M policies. Anwar also spent several years at the West of England where he handled both P&I and LCC claims for tankers, bulk carriers and offshore supply vessels. He is a qualified solicitor.

Ashish Acharya

Ashish joined the Shipowners' Club in 2020. He has 14 years' seagoing experience, all on oil tankers, rising up to the rank of Chief Officer. Ashish holds a Master Mariner's licence and also a BSc degree in Nautical Science.

Ashley Beh

Ashley joined the Club in August 2022 from another IG Club in Singapore where she had experience handling a wide range of P&I and H&M claims for over seven years. She has also previously worked as P&I Correspondent assisting all IG Clubs, and prior to that, as Claims Executive at a fixed premium P&I insurers. Since joining the Club, Ashley handles the full range of P&I claims for Members in Malaysia and Singapore including Offshore Membership. Ashley holds an LLB and LLM in Maritime Law.

Atusa joined the Club in November 2022 as a Claims Executive. She has three years of experience working as a Paralegal in private practice where she specialised in personal injury claims.

Azizur Jahir

AJ joined the Club's IT support team in 2009, ensuring departments received a first-class service. In 2022 AJ became Support Team Leader overseeing day-to-day management of the support team as well as the system administration for the Club's London office.

Ben Harris

Ben joined the Shipowners' Club in 2001 and is now Head of Claims - London Branch. Ben began his career with the Club after graduating from university and subsequently qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales. In 2010 Ben moved to Vancouver as a Director of the Club's Canadian Branch office where he was responsible for the Club's claims service across Canada and the west coast of the US. In 2013 Ben returned to London to reprise his current role with the Club heading up the Claims team responsible for assisting our Membership across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Indian sub-continent and the Americas. Ben is currently Chair of the International Group of P&I Clubs' Salvage Committee.

Bhaskar Nigam

Bhaskar joined the Shipowners' Club in 2013. He has spent more than ten years at sea, rising to Chief Officer, and has extensive experience in container shipping. He has also worked on multi-purpose, bulk cargo and heavy-lift vessels, as well as project cargo for the oil and gas industry in Australia.

Britt Pickering

After qualifying as a solicitor in 1998, Britt worked for a large City firm specialising in insurance litigation and yacht/pleasure craft claims. Britt then spent over two years with another P&I club dealing with Legal Assistance & Defence (FD&D) and cargo claims for Members in the Far East before joining the Shipowners' Club in 2003. In 2012, Britt became Claims & Legal Director of the Shipowners' Club, with overall responsibility for claims and legal services across all Branches.

Bruce Fairweather

Bruce joined the Club's Offshore Claims team as a Claims Executive in July 2023 from the offshore operator Bibby Marine, where he worked as its Chartering and Commercial Risk Manager. He graduated from Aberdeen University in 2010 with a law degree and is also a qualified shipbroker and has previously worked for Clarksons and Subsea 7.

Captain Hari Subramaniam

Hari has over 17 years' seagoing experience including three years as Master on a wide range of vessels including VLCCs, gas and chemical carriers as well as offshore vessels. In addition to a Master Mariner's licence, Hari also has an MBA in International Management and Human Resources and is a qualified ISO 9001/ISM lead auditor as well a navigational assessor. He also holds the post of the Vice-President of The Nautical Institute (Singapore Branch) and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS London). Hari came ashore to head the Commercial and Operations department of an Indian shipping company which chartered, operated and managed bulk carriers, offshore vessels, tugs and barges. He has also been involved in towing and salvage operations. Prior to joining Shipowners' Club Hari helped set up and head the operations department of an offshore company in Singapore which owned and operated AHTSVs and PSVs. Hari brings with him a combination of expertise with mainstream vessels as well as offshore vessels. After spending over ten years with the Club's Loss Prevention department, Hari has now assumed a larger role as the Club's Regional Head - Business Relations & Medisea whereby he will facilitate deeper engagement with key industry stakeholders to conceptualise programmes to improve safety awareness and risk management ethos as well as lead the Club's Medical Enhancement Scheme for Seafarers (Medisea - Epeme).

Captain Vaughan Williams

Vaughan joined the Club in 2022 as a Casualty Consultant with the Singapore office. He specialises in marine casualty investigations and has attended numerous major casualties involving salvage, wreck and cargo removal operations globally on behalf of insurers, P&I Clubs, owners, government agencies and salvors. Since 2012, Vaughan has been listed on the Lloyds Panel of Special Casualty Representatives (SCRs).

Caris Leong

Caris comes from a background in maritime crewing with almost a decade of experience in managing seafarers of various nationalities, ranging from offshore vessels to tankers. Caris' previous roles also include being part of the operations, and cost control department of a tug & barge company, predominantly operating in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore amongst other Southeast Asian countries. She also holds a BSc degree in Marketing and a Diploma in Supply Chain Management.

Carl Glover

Carl joined the Club in 2019 as an underwriter from British Marin (QBE) where he spent 13 years in underwriting, mostly dealing with clients in India, the Middle East and the Yacht market. Carl has a degree in Law from the University of Kent.

Carl Rutter

Carl joined the Shipowners' Club in 2021 as a member of the Credit Control department. Carl has over 15 years' experience in the insurance sector working for large international brokers and some niche brokers. He is also one of the key contacts in Credit Control for both brokers and underwriters as well performing month end reporting for senior management. Carl is also involved in ongoing developing of our IT systems within finance, as well as administrating some of our business placed through our Coverholders.

Carri Woodburn

Carri joined the Loss Prevention team in 2016. She has 11 years' seagoing experience, has sailed as Chief Mate and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Marine Operations Management. After her cadetship on deep-sea vessels, Carri moved to the offshore sector and served as a Senior Dynamic Positioning Operator in the North Sea and Southeast Asian oil fields.

Celinne Lim

Celinne worked as a Commercial Underwriter before joining the Club's Singapore Branch as one of its first employees during its startup phase in 2019 and currently oversees the Indonesian market.

Charlie Weatherill

Charlie joined the Shipowners' Club in 2014 as an Underwriting Assistant in the Europe and Africa syndicate, initially with the Club's Greek and Cypriot Members. Charlie was promoted to Deputy Underwriter in 2017 and subsequently to Underwriter in 2020. Charlie is now responsible for the Club's Dutch, Belgian, Danish and Croatian books of business. Alongside his underwriting role, in April 2022 Charlie joined the Corporate Responsibility (CR) Working Group as a CR Executive. Charlie also has a Diploma in P&IQ.

Charlotte Seaman

Charlotte joined the Shipowners' Club in 2018 as a member of the Credit Control team, dealing with numerous jobs such as processing and allocating multiple currencies, chasing for overdue premiums & liaising with both underwriters and brokers. She is also a point of contact regarding the monthly broker statements and for arranging settlement of member refunds and payment of any brokers' commissions payable.

Chloe Solomon

Chloe joined the Club in 2006 having completed a year's course at St James's & Lucie Clayton College. She started her working career at the Club firstly as a Loss Prevention Assistant where she worked for over five years before becoming PA to Directors in 2011.

Christiane Wendland

Chris joined the Club in 1988 initially as a receptionist, she then joined the Finance department working as finance assistant working for the Club's Finance Director. In subsequent years Chris has been responsible in ensuring that the payment of claims is made to our members on a timely basis as well as overseeing the treasury and IPT reporting functions and currently holds the position as Senior Finance Assistant.

Claire Williams

Claire joined the HR Department in 2014 having spent over ten years working in HR in industries covering Insurance, Architecture and Fund Management. Claire's focus for the Club is all things Recruitment and Learning & Development. She holds an MA in Personnel & Development, is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and is qualified in the use of Occupational Ability and Personality Tests.

Colin Stratton

Darren Mison

Darren joined the Shipowners' Club in 2015 and moved to Singapore in 2019. Prior to joining the Club, Darren held numerous Commercial Finance roles across a range of industries including Telecoms, New Media and Financial Services. Darren is a CPA (Australia) qualified accountant and holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Commerce.

Darren Webb

Darren joined the Shipowners' Club in July 2015. Darren started his career with a Lloyd's broker in 1986 where he worked in the P&I and Hull departments for ten years before moving to a P&I International Group Club in 1997. Darren has concentrated on underwriting business in North and South America as well as Germany, Greece, Turkey and Russia. He is now the Americas Syndicate Manager for Underwriting based in the London office.

David Rogerson

David joined the Shipowners' Club in November 2022 as manager of the newly formed Operations function following 15 years working in various management roles within the commercial insurance broking sector. Initially focusing on the P&I Online and DUA Portal offerings whilst balancing initiatives relating to CRM and Sanctions, from August 2023, David increased duties to include Change Management within the business.

Dhiru Budakoti

Dhiru joined the Club's IT support team in 2013, providing support to colleagues in Singapore and Hong Kong. His role covers the support of both users and back-end infrastructure. In March 2023, Dhiru was promoted to Senior Systems Engineer.

Dimitris Batalis

Dimitris first joined the Shipowners' Club in 2006 and worked at the underwriting department for a few years before moving to Greece to complete his national service. He worked for a local insurance company dealing with Greek accounts for P&I and War Risks and in 2011 Dimitris rejoined the Club as an Underwriter responsible for Greece, the Netherlands, Cyprus and other Balkan countries. Dimitris is responsible for the management of the Greek office.

Dolf Ng

Dolf began his career as a shipping lawyer in one of the largest law firms in Singapore. He made his first foray into P&I in 2006 as a Deputy Underwriter for an International P&I Club. Having spent five years in his previous club, Dolf joined the Shipowners' Club as an underwriter in 2011. His portfolio includes shipowners in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand and South Korea, with an emphasis on the offshore sector.

Donald A. MacLeod KC

Don serves as Chair of the Club. He has over 30 years of experience in international shipping and has held senior executive positions in the marine sector. Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, he brings to the Club Board in depth knowledge of the marine sector in Canada and abroad including offshore oil and gas, subsea construction, trans-ocean cable installation and maintenance, salvage, tug operations and the passenger sector. Don has extensive board experience serving on boards in the commercial, educational, and charitable sectors. Previously he chaired the Club's Finance Committee and has extensive corporate finance and investment experience. In addition to chairing the Club's main Board he sits on the Audit and Risk, Finance and Renumeration subcommittees. Don is a trained lawyer with expertise in charterparty interpretation, commercial transactions, marine insurance, salvage, vessel sale and purchase, marine crewing and industrial relations, shipyard contracting and dispute resolution.

Donna Purdue

Donna joined the Club in 2022 as an Underwriter, following a period broking at Wilson Europe. She has over 20 years' experience from her time at Steamship Mutual, where she was primarily involved in North American business, including tug and towage accounts. Before she left she headed its specialist cruise team.

Dr. David Ho

David has over 40 years' experience in ferry operations and served as General Manager of the Hong Kong Ferry (Holdings) Co Ltd for 25 years, until his retirement in 2021. Based in Hong Kong, David has a Doctorate in Business Administration and a Master's in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong as well as a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. David also serves the Club's Members on the Finance Committee.

Dr. Yves Wagner

Yves is a Partner and co-founder of The Directors' Office, the leading practice of independent directors in Luxembourg. Having previously served as Chief Executive of Fortis Investment Management Luxembourg, Yves brings to the Board extensive knowledge in finance, investments and risk management. Yves has a Doctorate in Economics from the University of Aix-Marseille and continues to teach and holds chairs at several universities and business schools, including the University of Luxembourg and the Institut de Formation Bancaire. As well as serving the Club's Members on the Association's Board, Yves also serves on the Finance and Audit and Risk Committees.

Eliz Khoo

Eliz joined the Club in 2020 as a Finance and Regulatory Executive. She supports both the Singapore and Hong Kong Branches on regulatory and compliance matters and assists the Finance team in London on periodical reporting for the Club. In 2022, she became Finance and Regulatory Manager.

Ellie Bailey - CMO

Ellie joined the Club in 2016 as a Marketing Executive and after four years as Marketing Manager, was promoted to the Head of Marketing in 2022. Ellie is responsible for the strategic direction of all of the Club's communications, both internally and externally, across digital and offline platforms. In 2019, Ellie joined the Corporate Responsibility Working Group, lending her marketing expertise to the development and dissemination of the Corporate Responsibility strategy. Ellie has an MSc in Marketing from Birkbeck College, University of London.

Emma Thompson

Job Titles:

Emma joined the Club in November 2013 as a Claims Assistant. She joined the Americas team as Assistant Claims Handler in February 2016 and was then promoted to Claims Executive in October 2018. She assists Members with a wide range of P&I claims across many jurisdictions. In addition to her work in the Americas team, Emma also handles non-injury claims for the Yachtowners syndicate. Emma has completed Modules 1-7 of the IG P&IQ.

Eric Termens

Eric joined the Club back in 2007 in our head office in Luxembourg. He started as an accounting officer and is now Financial Accountant. His main duties are accounting for the Reinsurance subsidiaries of the Club and reporting to the regulator in Luxembourg. Eric is fluent in French and English, with knowledge of Luxembourgish and German.

Esther Chong

Having come from a sales and shipping logistics background, Esther joined the Club in August 2017. When the Club rolled out its Medisea (ePEME) programme in September 2018, Esther joined the team as a Medisea Administrator. Esther primarily assists with the day to day running of the programme including liaising with the panel clinics, Brokers and Members.

Esther Tang

Esther joined the Shipowners' Club in 2019, having previously worked elsewhere in the financial services sector in Singapore. Esther has secretarial and PA responsibilities for the CEO, Head of Underwriting, and Singapore underwriting team in general.

Gabriel Pickering

Gabriel joined the Club in September 2014 as an Underwriting Assistant for the Offshore team and is now the main underwriter for the Club's Indian book. Gabriel has obtained a number of P&I qualifications and continues to study the Advanced Diploma in Insurance.

Gary Machin

Gary joined the Club in 2001 after working for a number of years as a marine P&I broker in the London market. Since then he has focused primarily on the Southeast Asian membership. Having relocated to Singapore, Gary is now responsible for the Club's business in Malaysia and Thailand.

Giselle Villanueva Iglesias

Giselle joined the Shipowners' Club in 2014 as a member of the Americas syndicate and progressed to Claims Syndicate Manager in November 2021, dealing with a wide variety of P&I claims. As of 2019 Giselle qualified as an England and Wales solicitor and since then, she also handles Legal Cost Cover claims for the Club's Members worldwide. Giselle has completed her P&I qualification and is a fluent Spanish speaker. In addition to her role as Claims Syndicate Manager, Giselle is also the Correspondent Manager for the Club and sits on the Correspondent Committee for the International Group.

Glenn Bartley

Glenn joined the Club's IT team in 2011 as Business Analyst and is currently a Data Platform Manager.

Hannah joined the Club's marketing team in June 2023 as a marketing assistant and supports the Club's internal and external marketing initiatives. She previously completed work experience at technology firm Capco.

Hannah Smith

Job Titles:

Hannah joined the Shipowners' Club in 2013, as maternity cover working with the Europe and Africa syndicate as an Underwriting Assistant. Following a period travelling she returned to the Club in 2016. She has been working predominantly with our Greek and Cypriot Members since 2019. In 2021 she was promoted to Deputy Underwriter continuing to service the Greek and Cypriot Members along with the Maltese and more recently Turkish Members of the Club. She is also part of the wider yacht syndicate servicing our yacht Members in the same areas.

Harry Wathen

Harry joined the Club in 2020 following five years' underwriting at another International Group P&I Club. Since 2017 Harry's focus has been on specialist craft, river tonnage and offshore supply, predominantly across the Americas and Europe. He is also an Associate Member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects.

Hayley Gill

Hayley joined the Shipowners' Club in November 2001, and has gained extensive knowledge of the internal workings of the Club during her time working in the Underwriting and Loss Prevention teams. In conjunction with her Loss Prevention focus, she achieved a diploma In Small Craft Surveying. Hayley has most recently joined the newly formed Operations Department as Deputy Operations Manager, initially focusing on the P&I Online and DUA Portals.

Hui Qin Soh

Hui Qin joined the Club in 2022 as an Assistant Claim Executive, having previously worked in various insurance companies including liability insurers. She currently assists on a wide range of P&I claims, with a focus on crew and cargo, primarily for the Club's Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia membership.

Ian Edwards

Ian joined the Club as a claims handler in 1991 with a Nautical Studies degree and having worked for several years with a container shipping company. He moved to the Underwriting department in 1993 and assumed the position of Underwriting Director in 2012.

Ian Grainger

Ian joined the Loss Prevention team in 2019, after eight years working at sea. Following a cadetship on a wide range of vessels, including offshore and a tall ship, he primarily sailed on general cargo vessels in Europe becoming a Master Mariner, with extensive experience of timber, bulk and project cargoes.

Ian joined the Club's Finance team in August 2023 as a Finance Manager. He previously held several different finance roles in the insurance industry and most recently worked at Argenta Group as an Interim Group Reporting Accountant.

Indu Chitran

Indu joined the Club in August 2015 following a number of years of practice as a Singapore qualified disputes lawyer with a focus on shipping and admiralty matters. Since joining the Club, she has assisted her membership (primarily domiciled in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia) on a full range of P&I and LCC matters, including multiple wreck removals and general average matters. She also holds a P&IQ Diploma, the highest level of industry accreditation. Indu was appointed Deputy Claims Manager in January 2022.

Jack Taylor

Jack joined the Club's IT support in September 2020 providing a high level of assistance to the business in terms of hardware and software. In May 2023 Jack moved into the operations team as an operations analyst, handling a variety of process on behalf of the operations team.

James Gargrave

Job Titles:

James joined the Club in 2016. He started his career in 2010 at another IG Club before a move to a London fixed premium P&I insurer. On joining the Club James worked with the Yachtowners Team for two years before making the move to the Europe and Africa syndicate. He is now the Underwriter responsible for the German, Spanish, Portuguese, Icelandic, Scandinavian and French inland markets.

James White

James joined the Club in 2020 as a Claims Executive in the Europe & Africa syndicate. He previously worked in the London Class at the Standard Club. James has a Law degree and Master's from Swansea University.

Jan Vermeij

Jan is Chief Executive Officer at Ultranav and is also the Executive Director of Ultratug, Chile. He brings to the Board specialist knowledge in container, tanker, dry and tug operations. Jan is based in Chile but has experience in cargo operations across six continents. Jan has a Master's in Business Administration from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Santiago. As well as serving the Club's Members on the Association's Board, Jan also serves on the Finance Committee.

Janie Welsh

Janie joined the Club in August 1990 as an Underwriting Assistant on the fishing team. As well as the role of Underwriting Assistant, she also assisted with helping gather requirements for system changes and testing for the UW policy documentation systems, helping to ensure we provide the best service to our Members and Brokers. After 24 years Janie moved to Business Change and Transformation and is now the Product Manager and UAT Test Manager and continues to be part of business change and also product owner for the P&I online portal.

Janusha Gunarajah

Janusha joined the Club's Credit Control team in 2018, assisting with the team with system changes. In July 2022 she became a Finance Assistant dealing with day-to-day tasks including claims payments, ITP returns and bank reconciliations. Janusha also assists in some areas of the Credit Control function.

Jasmine is a PRC qualified lawyer, and obtained an LLB degree from Shanghai Maritime University and LLM degree from University of Southampton. She initially worked with Hill Dickson in London, then started her P&I career with The London Club for over ten years. She was with Skuld in Hong Kong as Assistant Vice President, Underwriting and Marketing before joining the Club. Jasmine gained remarkable achievement in both P&I and FDD claims, underwriting P&I business across the Asian region.

Jasna Chua

Jasna has worked at the Club since January 2013 starting as Office Manager and over the years has taken on HR responsibilities. During her time with the Club, Jasna has completed a Bachelor's degree in HR Management. Jasna's career has spanned a variety of administrative and HR roles across industries and she has now established herself as the key day-to-day contact for all things recruitment and operational HR for our offices in Singapore and Hong Kong. Jasna is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hokkien.

Jeremy Slater

Jeremy has more than 40 years' experience in the P&I industry. Having spent over 20 years at another International Group Club, Jeremy joined the Shipowners' Club in 2003. Since then, he has had underwriting responsibility for a wide range of the Club's business including, since relocating to the Club's Singapore Branch in 2009, Asia-Pacific. In his role as Head of Underwriting for the Singapore Branch, Jeremy leads the underwriting team across the Asia-Pacific region.

Jerome Cottineau

Jerome joined the Shipowners head office in Luxembourg as a Finance Assistant in 2020. Jerome is responsible for the accounting of the Club's investment portfolios and regulatory reporting. Aside from Luxembourg, he has also worked in France, Greece and Germany.

Jessica Teng

Jessica is a qualified Malaysian lawyer and joined the Club in 2021 from a prominent Singapore law firm where she practised as a registered foreign lawyer and was also a partner of a Malaysian boutique shipping law firm. Having spent 14 years in private practice, Jessica has extensive experience dealing with various shipping disputes for shipowners and marine underwriters, including but not limited to vessels detention in Malaysian waters, pollution incidents, piracy and a multitude of cargo related matters. Jessica currently deals with a full range of P&I and LCC matters, with a particular focus on the Club's Malaysian membership.

Julie Whelan

Julie is a BA graduate of the University of Limerick, Ireland. She subsequently qualified as a travel agent and has worked in the US, the UK, Germany, France and Ireland in the travel industry before settling in Luxembourg. Following a career break with young family she began work with a Fiduciary and was seconded to placements within the insurance industry. In November 1997 she assisted in the opening of the new Shipowners' Mutual Protection and Indemnity Association (Luxembourg) office and has worked in the Association since then. Her role has evolved from an administrative role, bookkeeping and investment accounting, to Administration Manager. This role in the Shipowners' Club Head Office includes all the administration for the Board of Directors and other secretariat requirements for regulatory bodies in Luxembourg and including Hong Kong and Singapore and other jurisdictions.

Kathy Meads

Kathy brings to the Board extensive experience across a wide range of business sectors including telecommunications, ports and logistics, infrastructure and insurance. Based in New Zealand, Kathy served as a CFO for over 20 years, and has 25 years' experience in both Executive and Non-Executive Director roles in New Zealand and offshore entities. Kathy is a Fellow (FCA) of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and is a Chartered Member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors. As well as serving the Club's Members on the Association's Board Kathy is Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Kelly Bishop

Louise Hall

Louise joined the Loss Prevention team in 2006 bringing with her a valuable marine background, having served at sea with a global container shipping line and by working as Cargo Planner, Operations Superintendent and Ship Manager. In January 2017 Louise was appointed as a Director of the management board, taking on the wider remit of overseeing Marketing and Corporate Responsibility in addition to Loss Prevention. Louise has an MSc in Marine Surveying and has undertaken Cambridge University's Sustainability in Business course.

Louise Wright

Louise joined the Club in 2008. In 2012 she spent several months handling claims in the Club's Canadian office. Upon her return from Canada, Louise joined the Offshore syndicate which she served for six years. She then moved over to the Club's newly established Injury team in November 2018. Madeleine Newell

Maddie joined the Club in 2020 as a Marketing Executive, focusing on a variety of internal and external marketing projects and campaigns to support the Club's business plan. In 2022 she was promoted to Senior Marketing Executive, taking on more responsibility in company wide projects and campaigns such as P&I Online and developing the Club's social media strategy. In 2023 she was promoted to Marketing Manager, managing the day-to-day delivery of marketing operations, delivering the marketing business plan and supporting the marketing team alongside the Head of Marketing in achieving personal and departmental objectives. Maddie has a First Class Degree in Marketing with Advertising Management.

Madhavi Arya

Madhavi was called to the Singapore Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor in 2011. She joined the Club in August 2017 after practising as a litigation lawyer handling admiralty and shipping claims in Singapore and thereafter having completed a short stint at another IG Club in New York. She handles P&I claims for Members in Singapore, Indonesia, Australia and Vietnam as well as LCC matters across the Branch's Membership. Madhavi is also an Associate Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre.

Maggie-Jo McGregor

Maggie joined the Club in 2015 and currently jointly leads the Singapore Claims team in the Asia-Pacific region, primarily for Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Australia, and Papua New Guinea Membership. Prior to joining the Club, she worked in London at another International Group P&I Club, handling a range of P&I and FD&D claims. Maggie originally trained and worked as a solicitor as well as P&I Club Correspondent in Australia, handling a range of P&I matters in far north Australia and casualty work in Papua New Guinea.

Marcus Tarrant - CFO

In May 2023, Marcus became the Club's Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Marcus Tarrant joined the Shipowners' Club in 2014 as Chief Actuary and was appointed as a Director of the management board with effect from 1 January 2017. As Chief Actuary, Marcus was focused on maintaining the Club's financial stability and leading the Club's Actuarial, Compliance and Risk Management functions. Prior to joining the Club, Marcus worked for professional services firm PwC for 14 years on a broad range of actuarial assignments, both in the UK and the US where Marcus was based for six years. Mark Harrington - Chief Commercial Officer

Mark joined the Club in 2004 after 18 years at another International Group Club. After spending the early part of his Shipowners' career underwriting the Club's Members in Europe, Latin & Central America, Asia and South Africa, in 2014 Mark then moved into a management role applying his experiences to the role of Head of Underwriting in London. Mark's responsibilities for the Branch include underwriting discipline, underwriting result, service levels and its personnel.

Mark Whitaker

Mark is Managing Director of the Whitaker Group and brings to the Board a wealth of knowledge in tanker operations. Mark has extensive experience of overseeing operations in the UK and Northern Europe, but has also operated out of Australia, Africa and South America. As well as serving the Club's Members on the Association's Board Mark is Chair of the Remuneration Committee and serves as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Mei Ling joined the Shipowners' Club in 2015. Having spent time supporting the Singapore Branch underwriters, Mei Ling was appointed to the role of Senior Underwriting Assistant in 2022. Milly Brooks

Milly first joined the Club's London office in 2016 as a P&I and LCC Claims Executive, later becoming Deputy Syndicate Manager of the Club's Europe & Africa syndicate, focusing on the Club's Greek, Italian and French membership. In 2019, she relocated to Sydney, Australia, to work for the Club's Singapore Branch, focusing on providing dedicated claims support to the Club's Australian Members, as well as Members from Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. Milly is a qualified lawyer in Australia, England and Wales and prior to joining Shipowners' Club, Milly worked as a shipping lawyer in a leading national law firm in Australia.

Miyla Sozansky

Miyla joined the Club in March 2023 having left school with excellent A-level results and then gaining experience of valuable communication and customer service skills working in retail. Miyla is working as our HR & Office Assistant based in London whilst undertaking an HR apprenticeship and will work towards her professional qualification whilst gaining work experience. Miyla provides HR administrative support to all our offices and covers reception. Miyla is well placed to have a long and successful career with the Club.

Mélanie joined the Shipowners' Club in February 2023 as Finance Manager. She has worked as external auditor specialised in insurance sector before working for the last two years for a mutual insurer. She is part of the Finance team in the head office in Luxembourg.

Nathaniel Harding

Nathaniel has worked in the shipping industry since 2011. He previously worked for another International Group Club, where he assisted predominantly European Members in respect of a range of P&I and FD&D matters. Nathaniel joined the Shipowners' Club in April 2014 as a Claims Handler in the Americas and Yachtowners syndicates. He has since progressed to Syndicate Claims Manager of the Americas syndicate and is also a member of the Club's Legal Costs Cover team. He assists Members with a wide range of shipping issues. He is an England and Wales qualified Solicitor and has completed the International Group P&I qualification.

Neville Seet

Neville has been with the Club since 2012, having prior experience in marine hull dealing with both claims and underwriting for major local and international insurance companies. As an Underwriter, he has undertaken various portfolios within the Club, and he is now mostly focused on Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia. He is also the Underwriting Manager for the Branch's Underwriting department.

Nicola Clarke

Nicola joined the Club in 2001 and, following a period in our Singapore office, rejoined the London branch in 2015 in the Europe & Africa syndicate. In 2018, she became the Club's external Quality Assurance Consultant, responsible for the QA architecture the Club has today. In 2020 Nic rejoined the London Branch as part of the Offshore syndicate and Yacht People Claims team.

Nicola Dyer-Singh

Nicola joined the Claims department of the Club's London office in 2001. In 2009 she moved to Singapore to help establish the Club's Singapore office. During her time in Singapore she studied for and completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law. She returned to the London office in 2015 and now specialises in the handling of yacht claims (non-injury).

Nicola Kingman

Nicola joined the Shipowners' Club in May 1999, and is the Underwriting Manager of the Yacht syndicate. During her time at the Club, Nicola has underwritten business for many areas of the world and has been the main Underwriter for the Club's yacht portfolio. Nicola has a Diploma in Superyacht Operations. Outside of the office Nicola enjoys running, swimming and ballroom/Latin dancing.

Oliver Shelmerdine

Pamela Ong

Pamela joined the Shipowners' Club in 2014. Having spent some time supporting the Singapore branch underwriters, Pamela was appointed to the role of Senior Underwriting Assistant in 2022. Whilst continuing to work on business across the Branch, Pamela has a particular focus on Club's Australian and Indonesian passenger vessels portfolio.

Pascal Herrmann

Pascal graduated in finance and accounts from the Business School of Strasbourg University. He also spent a year at Stirling University in Scotland. He moved to Luxembourg financial services and worked for more than six years as an auditor specialising in the financial sectors of investment funds, private banking and insurance. He joined the Shipowners' Club head office in March 2004 and was appointed General Manager in April 2010.

Paul Smit - Chief Legal Officer

Paul joined the Shipowners' Club in 2009 following a number of years practising as a Solicitor with leading maritime law firms in South Africa and London. During this time he handled a full range of disputes on behalf of P&I clubs, vessel owners, charterers and commodity traders. At the Club he has worked in both the Europe and UK and Rest of the World syndicates, progressing to the position of Syndicate Manager. He relocated to the Club's Singapore office in August 2012, and was appointed Head of Claims - Singapore for the Branch until December 2021. In January 2022, Paul joined the Americas syndicate in the London office.

Peter Sydenham

Peter has over 40 years of insurance and reinsurance experience and most recently was a Managing Director and Leader of Special Lines at Swiss Re. Peter's specialisms included marine, aviation and agriculture business as well as credit and surety and engineering. Peter is based in the UK but has spent significant time in other locations including New York, HK, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo. Peter commenced his career in 1979 on a marine syndicate at Lloyd's and has extensive underwriting, claims and risk management experience in all classes of marine insurance. Peter is also a Vice President of the Insurance Institute of London and previously chaired the London Reinsurance Committee. As well as serving the Club's Members on the Association's Board, Peter also serves on the Audit and Risk Committee.

Philip D. Orme

Phil brings to the Board over 30 years' experience in the onshore contracting, offshore marine contracting and port management industries both in the UK and overseas with allied engineering and manufacturing knowledge. Phil's business was based in the United Arab Emirates, as the single shareholder of OP Maritime Services DMCEST and a shareholder and Director of Ocean Power Holdings. Phil served as the Club's Chairman for eight years until 2022. He continues to serve Club Members as Chair of the Finance Committee and as a member of both the Audit and Risk and Remuneration Committees.

Rachel Manning

Rachel joined the Club's People Claims team in June 2023 as a Claims Executive. She previously worked as an Associate Solicitor at Clyde & Co, specialising in a wide range of personal injury claims. Prior to that Rachel worked in house for TUI for 7 years as a Litigation Executive, defending personal injury claims.

Ranjith Kanipayur

Ranjith joined the Shipowners' Club in 2013 as Enterprise Business Architect. In October 2018, he became the Club's Head of Business Transformation and therefore oversees all aspects of the Club's change programme, working closely with colleagues and the Club's Board in delivering an exciting transformation programme. Prior to joining the Club, Ranjith had 10+ years working in various insurance companies and helping them in delivering their change programmes. Ranjith has an MBA from Imperial College London and a Diploma from the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Rebecca Bax

Rebecca joined the Club's Offshore Syndicate in January 2020 following 4.5 years at another International Group Club. She then moved to the Europe & Africa Syndicate in April 2023, where she works predominantly with Dutch and French Members. Rebecca also handles non-injury claims for the Yachtowners Syndicate and is part of the Legal Costs Cover team. Rebecca holds the International Group P&IQ Diploma and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in March 2023.

Rebecca Mison - CHRO

Rebecca leads our HR function and has worked for more than 20 years in generalist HR roles across a range of organisations and industries including telecoms and media, before joining the P&I world. She is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and holds an MA in Personnel and Development from Westminster University as well as a BA in History with Spanish from the University of Nottingham. Rebecca's career has taken her to both the US and Singapore and these as well as her keen interest in people and performance has given her insight and understanding of different working cultures and environments.

Renuka Donepudi

Reverend Canon Stephen Miller

Having worked for international seafarer support service Mission to Seafarers since 1999, Stephen currently serves as both Senior Chaplain, Hong Kong, and as Regional Director for East Asia for the organisation. Stephen has experience working with seafarers across all four corners of the world and has been posted to missions in the UAE, Asia and Europe, the latter being where he studied Maritime Law and Policy at Erasmus University, Rotterdam. As well as serving the Club's Members on the Association's Board, Stephen also serves on the Finance Committee.

Richard Hackett

Richard joined the Club's Loss Prevention department in August 2023, as a Condition Survey Programme Executive. He is Master Mariner with 29 years' experience in the shipping industry, with 20 years spent at sea working in coastal and deep sea trades, and nine years working in ship management in the city of London.

Rob Cook

Rob has been at the Club since 2006. Originally Rob joined as part of the Claims department, where he went on to manage the former ‘UK and Rest of the World' syndicate. Following a year with the Club's dedicated yacht syndicate in a dual role, Rob completed the switch to underwriting and now works in the Offshore team. Rob has an MA in Maritime Policy and is a qualified Solicitor, and a keen amateur sailor.

Robert Shearer

Robert joined the Shipowners' Club in 2018, originally starting in the Americas Syndicate Claims team as well as the Legal Costs Cover team, assisting members with a wide variety of claims. He has since moved to the Offshore Syndicates Claims team. Robert is an England and Wales qualified Solicitor, having started his career at a leading London maritime law firm in 2012 where he completed his training in 2014.

Rodin Goh

Rupert Carey

Rupert has an English and History degree from the University of Surrey and joined the Shipowners' Club in 1994. He underwrites the Club's business in France, Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar, including many of the Club's yacht, passenger and fishing Members.

Sam Thomas

Sam joined the Club's Finance Department in London in 2003 as a Finance Assistant and is responsible for setting the payment of claims on a daily basis. This is a full time function and ensures that our Members and stakeholders payments are done on a timely basis.

Sara Assi

Sara joined the Club's Offshore Syndicate as a Claims Executive in March 2023. Sara previously worked in the International Division of another IG Club for two years. As well as holding a law degree and an LLM in International Shipping Law, Sara is a fluent Arabic speaker and is familiar with the main offshore regions the Club works with day to day.

Sarah Chamberlain

Serene started as an intern at the Club in 2014 in her penultimate year of university, as part of the MPA's Global Internship Programme. After her graduation from university in 2015, she joined the Shipowners' Club full time as a P&I trainee where she rotated between departments for a year. Since then, she has been part of the Claims team and handles P&I claims for the Club's Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia membership. In the course of time, she has also obtained the Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law and Arbitration at the National University of Singapore.

Shayne Tan

Shayne started as an intern at Shipowners in 2011, and joined full time as a P&I trainee in 2012. After spending time in both the Claims and Underwriting departments, Shayne found her calling in the Underwriting department, and has since worked her way up to Underwriter in 2018. Her main focus includes Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific, but she also assists with the Singapore portfolio. Outside of work, Shayne is an avid reader, world traveller, and dedicated yogi.

Sherry Chen

Sherry joined the Club in 2014 after having spent some years working for a shipping company. Having spent two years in the Singapore Branch, Sherry relocated to the Club's Hong Kong branch in 2016 where her primary focus is to handle a full range of P&I claims for the Club's Hong Kong and China membership. Sherry has an LLM in Maritime Law from the National University of Singapore and has completed the P&IQ qualification.

Shev Algama

Shev is an England and Wales qualified Solicitor and has also completed his P&I qualifications. He joined the Shipowners' Club in 2011, working in our Offshore Claims syndicate. He then moved to our Europe & Africa syndicate as a Claims Executive in 2013, working predominantly with Dutch, Belgian, German and Scandinavian Members. Shev was promoted to Senior Claims Executive in 2019 and was also made Claims Manager of the Yacht syndicate at the same time. In January 2021 he was then made Deputy Claims Manager of the Europe & Africa syndicate in January 2021. He currently performs a dual role in both the E&A and Yacht syndicates, as well as being part of our Corporate Responsibility Working Group.

Having spent time supporting the Singapore Branch underwriters, Shirley was appointed to the role of Senior Underwriting Assistant in 2022. Whilst continuing to work on business across the Branch, Shirley also handles the Australian fishing and passenger vessels portfolio.

Simon Peacock - CEO

Simon joined the Shipowners' Club in 2016 as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining the Club, Simon spent 7 years at a London based real estate company, as Group Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Before that Simon spent 13 years working in the City within the securities and derivatives broking sector, and the investment banking sector. Simon is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Steve Randall

The longest serving member of staff, Steve joined the Club in 1978 with a solid focus on underwriting. He relocated to Singapore as General Manager with the opening of the Branch in 2009 with overall responsibility for the Club's business in the region. In May 2015 Steve was appointed to the Board of SPL as Commercial Director, taking on a wider remit reporting to the main Board on the Club's worldwide business development and commercial direction, working with the Underwriting and Claims teams in both London and Singapore. As of August 2022, Steve has taken on the new role of Chief Executive of the Club's Singapore office.

Steven John

Steven joined the Shipowners' Club in 2017 and is responsible for injury and illness claims suffered by crew, passengers and third parties. Having established the People Claims team in 2018 he manages the team handling illness and injury claims across the Club's membership spanning all syndicates and jurisdictions. He has been a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales since 2006. Prior to his P&I career he worked in private practice as a specialist personal injury litigator. He has litigated on behalf of both claimants and defendants in his previous roles. He has been the Club's representative on the International Group Personal Injury Committee and the Occupational Disease Committee since joining the Club. Since 2023 he has also sat on the International Group Crew Contracts Working Group.

Suo Ling Ng

Prior to joining the Club, she spent several years with a P&I Correspondent in Sri Lanka where she handled a wide range of P&I matters, particularly dealing with casualties and wreck removals, both in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Surani is a qualified Attorney (Sri Lanka) and has an LLM in Maritime Law.

Susie joined the Club in 2005 as an Underwriting Assistant and has worked across the various syndicates over the years, including spells at other companies before returning to the Club. Susie returned to the Yachts team in 2020 as a Deputy Underwriter.

Suzanne Racey

Suzanne joined the Club on 12 th November 2007 working for Simon Swallow as the Commercial Director and then CEO for 15 years. After Simon Swallow retired in August this year Suzanne now works as a PA to Simon's successor Simon Peacock.

Theo is focused on sustainable fishing, with his business being certified by the Marine Stewardship Council.

Victoria Kirkby

Victoria joined the Shipowners' Club in 2012 as an Underwriting Assistant dealing with mainly yacht business. Victoria was promoted to a Yacht Deputy Underwriter in 2017 and then to a Yacht Underwriter in 2022. Victoria underwrites business from many areas of the works but mostly works on UK business and Greek business. Victoria is currently in the process of completing a Diploma in Superyacht Operations.

Victoria Wells
