Anne M. Smith, Principal, with a BA in Architecture and Environmental Design, is a licensed architect in California and Nevada. She has nearly 30 years of experience in the field of architecture which includes design, preparation of construction documents, and construction administration for a variety of building types.
In addition, Ms. Smith has 13 years of forensic architectural and structural experience and is an Access Compliance and Fire and Life Safety consultant to the Division of the State Architect responsible for plan review of schools K-12, community colleges, universities, and state-leased/owned facilities throughout the State. In that capacity, Ms. Smith has successfully plan reviewed multiple project assignments simultaneously. Due to Ms. Smith's expertise and experience, the firm is approved to be on the qualified list of consultants to provide plan review services to the California State University's 23 campuses.
Farzad Heidari, S.E., is a principal of the firm and a licensed structural engineer with more than 24 years of experience on a wide range of projects for clients in both the private and public sectors with a special emphasis on design-build projects. As a principal of the firm, Farzad works with the entire structural design team to ensure that each project meets the client's scope of work. His experience spans a wide range of projects, several of which have won design excellence awards at both the local and national levels.
Farzad brings a high level of project management expertise to those projects on which he is involved. He works with the project structural engineers, designers and CAD technicians to see that each project design meets the client's scope of work. In addition, he works directly with clients to make sure all project requirements and scope changes are clearly understood and communicated to the design team and implemented into the project.
Mr. Heidari's experience spans a wide range of projects, including commercial facilities, office buildings, residential projects, educational facilities, hangars, fitness centers and medical facilities, using both the design-build and design-bid-build methods of project delivery. Farzad is also experienced in the area of Code and Structural Safety review for the California Division of the State Architect.

Hung Nguyen, principal of the firm and licensed structural engineer, serves as the Principal Project Manager on a wide range of projects for clients in both the private and public sectors. In this role, Mr. Nguyen is responsible for managing the project engineers, designers, and CAD technicians to make sure each project conforms to the project scope and is delivered to the client on time and on budget. Mr. Nguyen also attends design review meetings and works directly with clients to assure all project requirements and project changes are understood and communicated to the team in a timely manner. It is this principal-level of attention to each project which brings the highest level of quality control to the work produced by SMR.
For over 25 years, Mr. Nguyen has provided professional structural engineering services on numerous design and design-build projects with a cumulative construction cost of more than $2 billion. His experience encompasses the design and construction of reinforced and pre-stressed concrete, structural steel, masonry, and timber structures. Building types in his portfolio include educational facilities, mid-rise office and apartment buildings, medical facilities, parking structures, gymnasiums, theaters, industrial buildings, military structures, research facilities, and more.
Hung also has in-depth experience in the area of Code and Structural Safety review on numerous projects for the offices of the California Division of the State Architect (DSA).
Nathan Fields, S.E., is a principal of the firm and licensed structural engineer with more than 15 years of experience on a wide range of projects for clients in both the private and public sectors. In this role, Mr. Fields is responsible for managing the project engineers, designers, and CAD technicians to make sure each project conforms to the project scope and is delivered to the client on time and on budget. Mr. Fields also attends design review meetings and works directly with clients to assure all project requirements and project changes are understood and communicated to the team in a timely manner.
For over 15 years, Mr. Fields has provided professional structural engineering services on numerous design and design-build projects. His experience encompasses the design and construction of concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures. Building types in his portfolio include educational facilities, medical facilities, hospitals, industrial buildings, commercial, residential, military structures, research facilities, and more.
Nathan also has in-depth experience with OSHPD's standards and procedures, feasibility studies, and seismic risk evaluations.
