Chloe Winters

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Care Assistant
Chloe trained to be a Veterinary Care Assistant in 2010 at the PDSA and worked there for six years before coming to The Ark. She enjoys every aspect of her job from cuddling the patients and helping the vets and nurses to cleaning the kennels and answering the phones. She works part time and when she isn't at work she is busy with family life at home. She has two children called Pearl and Rowan and a cat called Nando. She enjoys visiting National Trust places at the weekends and spending time with her family.

Dr Andres Carlos Toro

Andres joined Ark Vets in September 2021. He studied at the Royal Veterinary College in London and has a particular interest in Feline Medicine and Emergency and Critical Care. Andres has two fur babies - ginger boy named Jimmy and a tri-colour girl named Lily. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, gym, swimming and computer games.

Dr Ángel Canete Pizarro

Ángel graduated from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2017. He did a few externships in non-teaching hospitals and worked in small animal practice in Spain before he decided to pursue his dream of building a career as a veterinary surgeon in the UK. He is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery, but particularly in cardiology and feline medicine. Outside of work Ángel is passionate about music and singing, and enjoys cooking new recipes, hiking, and yoga.

Hayley Sluijters

Hayley qualified with a Masters Veterinary degree from Ghent University in Belgium and has always loved animals. She also carries a degree in Fine Arts and Design and has always been creative, enjoying art projects and sewing in her spare time. Hayley lives in Haywards Heath with her partner and two naughty (and wonky) rescue cats 'Dille' and 'Casper'. She has special interests in ophthalmology cases, diagnostic imaging and medicine.

Jade Simmons RVN

Job Titles:
  • Senior Practice Director
Jade joined the Ark team in 2019 covering for Federica on Maternity leave. Jade is normally based at Southdown Veterinary Group in Brighton, and is now working between there and Ark to support both practices. Jade is also a Registered Veterinary Nurse and has worked at a variety of practices, managing many different teams. Jade's special interests are anaesthesia and working closely with cats to make their visit to the vets as comfortable and stress free as possible. Outside of work Jade competes her horse Darcie in Dressage, enjoys walking her dog Ratty and is kept busy with her two cats.

Jenny Watkins RVN

Jenny joined the Ark Team in 2016 and has since gone on to train as our Pet Bereavement Advisor, Mental Health First Aider and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2021. She has a special interest in emergency and critical care, anaesthesia and surgical nursing and aspirers to do additional courses in Schedule 3 Nursing. Outside of work, Jenny has a passion for photography and is kept busy with her lovely Lurcher cross Nova, and two rabbits Luna and Pluto. Jenny has a big soft spot for anything to do with sighthounds, or simply anything to do with dogs in general.

Kerri Martin

Job Titles:
  • Receptionist
Kerri is looking look forward to meeting and greeting all the lovely clients and patients when visiting the Ark. She also runs her own business. Kerri has 2 Cats, Floki and Boo. She has had a variety of animals, all shapes and sizes, from ferrets, barn owls, hedgehogs and ducks. Outside of work she spends a lot of time at a local fishing lake fishing and doing general upkeep of the area with her dad. She also enjoys weight training at the gym.

Natasha Smith

Job Titles:
  • Patient Care Assistant
Natasha is an patient care assistant who completed her Animal care management course in 2012 at Plumpton College. She enjoys the outdoors, wildlife, drawing, paddle boarding, kayaking and a good book. At home has two cute house Mini Lop rabbits called Honey and Merlin.

Nyree Waller

Job Titles:
  • Patient Care Assistant
Nyree's aim is to become a qualified nurse in exotics to then work with endangered species around the world. She has a mini zoo of four chickens called Tikka, Nugget, Omelette and scramble. She also has three Mini Lop rabbits called Luna, Milo and Theodore as well as a crazy Springer Spaniel called Bailey. On her days off Nyress enjoys going to Howletts zoo where her girlfriend works as a hoof stock Keeper. She loves everything Disney and enjoys going to the theatre.

Paula Corrick RVN

Paula joined the team here at Ark Veterinary Group in 2018, after moving to a practice closer to her home following getting married. Paula enjoys spending her spare time gardening and even grows her own catnip for her cat Evie.

Phillip Speer

Job Titles:
  • Head Veterinary Surgeon
Phillip joined Ark at the end of November 2020. He qualified in 2001 and since then has been working in a large small animal practice in Eastbourne. He has particular interests in dentistry, emergency medicine but enjoys all aspects of the job. He shares a cat called Pancake with his partner. He is looking forward to meeting all your furry family members

Rebecca Knight RVN

  • Nurse
Becky qualified from Bristol University in 2013 and moved back to Sussex in 2017 to be closer to family. Becky has worked in all types of practices, from mixed to charity to referral and has settled happily into general small animal practice over the last few years, joining Ark Veterinary Group as Head Nurse in January 2020. Her areas of special interest are anaesthesia and theatre nursing. She is currently studying for her advanced certificate in anaesthesia. Outside of work she enjoys paddle boarding as well as walking and training her springer spaniel Holly.

Sally Hubbard

Job Titles:
  • Receptionist
Sally joined the team here at Ark Veterinary Group in July 2018, having worked in the equestrian industry for over 12 years. She has two dogs called Ozzy and Chloe who she enjoys taking part in agility and canicross with. Sally also has a horse called Molly who she has had for nearly 20 years. Sally plays rugby for the local women's team here in Burgess Hill, and in her spare time she loves doing jigsaw puzzles and reading thrillers.

Sarah Olive

Job Titles:
  • Practice Administrator
Sarah joined the Ark in January 2020 as Practice Administrator. She is in charge of all things to do with accounts and processing. She joined us from previously working at the PDSA and was there for two years. Sarah is always around to help with any questions or queries you may have and is an experienced receptionist too!
