Abel Diaz Gonzalez is a PhD candidate in Business Economics at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB), Belgium. His research focuses on the supportive function of social entrepreneurial ecosystems. For his doctoral dissertation, Abel has conducted field research in Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, and Belgium. His research has been presented at different international conferences (among which are the Academy of Management, IABS, EMES and New Business Models). Abel has acted as a reviewer at various conferences and for journals, and as co-organizer of numerous events (e.g. the VUB Social Entrepreneurship Fair that has ca. 550 participants and the Social Entrepreneurship Summit with ca. 150 participants). Abel is a co-founder of Equalisi BVBA, a social enterprise incorporated in 2019 in Belgium, aimed at supporting vulnerable entrepreneurs from Latin America to commercialize their products in alternative markets. Abel holds a MSc in Management from the VUB and Corporate Communication & International Relation studies from Universidad del Norte in Colombia.

Dr. Sung Kyoo Ahn was a Visiting Fellow at the KF-VUB Korea Chair from January to December 2020. He conducted research on NATO with a focus on its relations with Russia, the US and China. He has obtained a PhD degree from Sungkyunkwan University and wrote a dissertation on Russia's offensive military posture during the post-cold war period. Previously, he has established a thirty years-long career as a journalist specialising in security and foreign affairs, including North Korean issues. He was awarded the Award of the Journalists Association of Korea for an article on the secret of North Korea's nation-building. From 1994 to 1997, he worked as a Moscow correspondent and covered the Chechen and Yugoslavia war. In 2003, he was attached to the US forces as an embedded journalist during the Iraq war and wrote a book on his experiences during this time. After retiring from journalism, he joined a South Korean think tank, Asan Institute for Policy Studies, as the chief editor. During this time, he focused on China's military power expansion.
Alain Tao is a postgraduate student at the Brussels School of Governance, completing a Master degree in Diplomacy and Global Governance. He is interning at the CSDS and supports daily operations and projects of the centre, as well as research with regards to EU-Indo Pacific affairs. He holds a B.A. in Science Politique from Université Saint-Louis Bruxelles.

Alastair MacIver is an Adjunct Professor at the Brussels School of Governance, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He teaches an EU Law of the Internal Market course at BA level. In addition to his teaching duties, he works in the Sustainable Growth and Business Environment Unit at the Directorate-General Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM) of the European Commission. Before joining the Commission, Alastair MacIver was a Legal Adviser in the Legal Service of the Council of the European Union and lectured at Tilburg University. He holds a PhD in Law from the European University Institute, Florence. His research focuses on: comparative federalism, secession and how Union law responds to breaches of peremptory norms of international law. His most recent research project investigates how we are to understand the evolving governance of the Economic and Monetary Union in comparative federal perspective.

Alexander Anghelou is an accredited psychologist specialized in cognitive behaviour therapy at the Brussels School of Governance of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
He has been working with the Brussels expat community in English, French and Greek since 2005.
Alexander earned his B.A. in Social and Organizational Psychology at Vesalius College/VUB in 2001. At the ULB he earned his pre-doc in Cognitive Sciences in 2004. His master's thesis on cerebral plasticity led him to enroll in the Msc. in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at the London Metropolitan University which he completed in 2007. In addition to his private practice, Alexander consults for corporate and institutional clients where he delivers corporate training as well as individual therapy.

Prof. Dr. Alexander Mattelaer is the Vice-Dean for Research and an Associate Professor in International Security at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) of the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG-VUB). He is also a Senior Research Fellow at Egmont - the Royal Institute for International Relations - and chairman of the scientific committee of the Belgian Royal Higher Institute for Defence
At the Vrije Universiteit Brussel he teaches the courses 'International Security and Strategic Studies', 'Modern Diplomacy', and 'Political Structures and Processes of the European Union'. For three years he served as a visiting professor at the College of Europe in Bruges, where he taught on European Defence Cooperation and NATO. As a Fulbright Schuman fellow he completed research stays at Harvard University and at the National Defense University.
He obtained his PhD in Political Science from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Master degrees from the University of Bath and the University of Leuven. His research interests include the politics of European integration, transatlantic relations and NATO, defence policy-making, and the ongoing redefinition of state sovereignty.
