Andrew Shaw

Andrew graduated from the University of Aberdeen and joined the firm in September 2018 as a Trainee Solicitor, working from our Glasgow office. Andrew's traineeship had a significant focus on Private Client. He advises clients on a wide range of Private Client matters, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Guardianships, Trusts and Executry matters. Andrew also deals with Adults with Incapacity matters and assists with running the West Lothian Carers Clinic, providing our clinic clients with advice relating to Wills and Powers of Attorney.

Andrew Yule

Andrew qualified at Burness Paull in 2003 and worked in the Commercial Property department until 2008. He moved to Dubai in 2008 and spent 4 years working in private practice, and 2 years in-house at a major property developer. Andrew returned to Scotland in early 2015, to work with Burness Paull in their Commercial Property department then moved on to Gillespie Macandrew in 2018. Andrew's experience is across the commercial property spectrum, from leasing, to acquisitions and disposals, and lending. Outwith work Andrew was a keen rugby player but is now a keen hillwalker, managing successfully to convert his family to the same hobby.

Audrey Martin

Audrey has worked in the legal sector for over 25 years and joined Blackadders in 2016 during the merger of Boyle Shaughnessy Solicitors and Blackadders LLP. Audrey attained a Certificate of Professional Development in Conveyancing Practice from the University of Strathclyde in 2000 and an Advanced Specialist Paralegal Certificate in Property Law in 2005.

Avril Greig

Avril is a Senior Executry Paralegal based in our Private Client team in Dundee. She started with the firm in 2001 and is experienced in dealing with the administration of executry estates. Avril qualified as a Scottish Law Accountant in 2006 and is a member of the Society of Law Accountants in Scotland (SOLAS).

Azeem Arshad

Prior to joining Blackadders, Azeem worked within one of the top-ranked commercial property teams in Scotland and as a result is no stranger to high profile acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant work and asset management. He has a particular expertise in commercial leasing, acting for the tenant, having represented major international retailers and household-name leisure operators.

Blair Duncan

Blair Duncan is a Solicitor in our award-winning Employment Team. Blair completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Stirling and both his Master's in Employment Law and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde. He joined Blackadders as a trainee in 2017 and qualified in 2019. Blair assists with handling matter of both a contentious and non-contentious nature. This includes bringing and resisting claims in the employment tribunal, including for unfair dismissal. Blair also assists with drafting employment contracts and other policies and he also advises on settlement agreements. During his time at Blackadders, Blair has taken part in various charity challenges including Dragons' Glen, raising over £5,000 with his fellow trainee solicitors for Children 1st and the KiltWalk, walking 25 miles from St Andrews to Monifieth, in aid of Dundee Carers' Centre.

Carol Forsyth

Carol became a member of the Blackadders property team in 2008 and after 19 years working within legal firms in Arbroath has an extensive knowledge of the local area and market. Prior to that she was employed in the financial services industry. Carol's role is to guide sellers through the marketing process including keeping clients fully informed and negotiating offers ensuring our clients achieve the best possible selling price. She is committed to providing clients with a high level of customer service.

Cherrisse Sorrie

Solicitor, Residential Conveyancing

Cherrisse graduated from Abertay University in 2014 with an LLB (Hons) degree. She then went on to study for a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, graduating from Dundee University in 2016. After completing her traineeship with a local firm, Cherrisse qualified as a Solicitor in June 2018 and has since gained invaluable experience in a variety of legal disciplines including Personal Injury, Commercial Litigation and Residential Conveyancing. Cherrisse joined our Residential Conveyancing department in 2018. She regularly acts on behalf of purchasers and sellers of residential properties, as well as this she attends to residential security work and transfers of title on behalf of clients.

Cheryl McAfee

Cheryl joined Blackadders property team in 1997 bringing a wealth of experience having started her career with the Royal Air Force. In 2009 she successfully completed a Modern Apprenticeship in Sales of Residential Property. Cheryl is currently Senior Sales Consultant within the Dundee property team.

Claire Newton

Claire joined the firm as an Associate Solicitor in October 2015 and was appointed Director of Executry Services in April 2018. Born and educated in Dundee, Claire graduated from the University of Dundee with a first-class honours degree in law, winning several academic awards during the course of her studies, including the prestigious Dean's medal and, after successful completion of the Diploma in Legal Practice, she gained the accolade of being named the best student in her year. A skilled legal practitioner, Claire provides tailored advice to her clients on a range of Private Client related matters including Wills, Powers of Attorney and, primarily, the administration of Executry estates. Her calm and sensitive approach to these matters can be relied upon by individual clients and their families and Claire takes enormous pride in guiding her clients through this difficult time and nurturing and maintaining a lasting relationship with them. Claire was a tutor on the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Dundee from 2016 to 2019 where she taught students on the core element of the Private Client module. She also has involvement in the Diploma in Legal Practice provided by the University of Edinburgh.

Colin Runcie

Born and bred in Aberdeen, Colin has practised as a lawyer in the city for over 35 years. In his early career, he turned his hand to most areas of law and soon built up a sizeable client bank resulting in him becoming a partner at the age of twenty-seven. He was subsequently one of the founding partners of Plenderleath Runcie, a respected and successful Aberdeen firm. In recent years he has dealt mainly with Wills, Powers of Attorney and Executry work as well as Residential Conveyancing, and has brought a wealth of experience to the private client department. He was educated at Robert Gordon's College and Aberdeen University.

Dale is the Director of Private Client Services at Blackadders. He has over 20 years of experience in Private Client work, and specialises in executry and trust matters, having dealt with many complex cases over the years, including estates with a foreign element, and those with complex tax issues to be addressed. Dale has been a tutor on the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh since 2002, and Senior Tutor since 2009, planning and directing the Private Client and Advanced Private client courses, and delivering lectures.
