Alex Bradshaw

Job Titles:
  • Structural Engineer
Alex Bradshaw's engineering story begins where so many others have begun. With Lego. It was on the floor of the family home as a child that Alex first developed a fascination for building things and trying to understand how they are built. The flame was lit, and he pursued his passion throughout his schooling, graduating from Imperial College London in 2019. Even then his ambitions shone through, having completed summer placements at Royal Dutch Shell and Robert Bird Group engineers. During his university studies, Alex specialised in Structural Engineering alongside Fluid Mechanics. His studies culminated in a final year project carrying out modelling and experimental analyses of floating offshore wind turbine platforms. Interest in the renewable energy sector stayed with him long past the completion of his degree. Alex enjoys working on projects of all scales and stages but has a particular interest in the construction phase of projects. He enjoys ensuring theory meets reality - that innovative details are also constructable. Alex is an engineer that also enjoys the tangibility of site work and the satisfaction of seeing a project come to fruition. Outside of Price & Myers, Alex enjoys his sport, especially seeing his beloved Leeds United. He loves travelling and has an interest in transport systems and infrastructure.

Alistair Burrows

Job Titles:
  • Associate
Alistair's experience over the years has led to an interest in challenging city-centre projects with complex briefs; he enjoys the intense collaboration and attention to detail these require. On all projects, Alistair works closely with the client and design team to produce an engineering solution which achieves the various aspirations of all involved. Alistair takes great pride in his work and has been a structural engineer on a number of award-winning projects over the years; for Alistair, it's a real joy seeing the hard work of the entire design team being recognised. Alistair is passionate about living sustainably and reducing waste both with regards to building design, but this extends to his home life too. It's important for him to create a safe and sustainable environment for his children and the next generation. He joined Price & Myers in 1994, becoming an Associate in 1999.

Andrew Stearn

Job Titles:
  • Associate
Andrew loved playing with LEGO Technic as a child, and it was this enjoyment of understanding how things worked, designing something and seeing the result that quite possibly led him to his eventual career in structural engineering. Andrew enjoys working collaboratively with the team to produce elegant and pragmatic designs. He aims to fully understand the aspirations for the building and its uses at the earliest possible stage, which enables him to have a far greater contribution to the design. Andrew joined Price & Myers in 2007, becoming an Associate in 2015.

Andy Toohey

Job Titles:
  • Partner
With an interest in complex sites, Andy enjoys the challenges associated with inner-city locations, with listed buildings, and on projects with extended specialist design teams such as in the performing arts sector, sports facilities and higher education. Always aiming to design buildings that look clean and simple, where the engineering seems inevitable, he is skilled in interpreting what an architect or client actually wants and seeing how that might be delivered in reality. He places a lot of importance on producing durable designs and quite often within his work the structural materials such as the brick, stone, concrete, steel or timber will be left exposed, and his careful approach to detailing is key in achieving longevity and quality. Andy is a member of The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and the IStructE History Group. He is a keen cyclist and has ridden the 1,500km Cycle to MIPIM twice in support of Coram, a charity raising vital funds for vulnerable children. Andy joined Price & Myers in 1996, became an Associate in 1999 and Partner in 2006.

Anna Shenton

Job Titles:
  • Structural Engineer
Throughout her childhood and adolescence, Anna was a regular and enthusiastic visitor. She grew up in London and it was at Open House that her interest in buildings grew, inspiring her towards a career in engineering. After graduating, Anna was drawn to work at Price & Myers by the practice's expertise in reducing embodied carbon in construction. She has gained experience on projects of all sizes and types, but mostly enjoys the technical challenges of working on individual houses.

Anna Wai

Job Titles:
  • Associate
Anna enjoys working closely alongside the client and design team to ensure a collaborative approach is maintained through the design life of a project. Her approach to delivering successful projects is to contribute to the initial design process as much as possible, aiming to exceed the client's expectations and balance cost and buildability. Anna is passionate about inspiring and supporting the next generation of engineers. She has been a lecturer at the Architectural Association since 2015. She teaches her students that a successful design is a process that involves the integration of many components and disciplines, and it's important to fully understand structural behaviour as this often leads to intelligent design. She joined Price & Myers in 2007 and became an Associate in 2017.

Bedir Bekar

Job Titles:
  • Structural Engineer
Bedir is a chartered structural engineer, designer, and maker with all these project typologies in his portfolio and more. He has more than a decade's experience and a dance card full of very satisfied clients. He also teaches at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL; with his teaching focused in bringing projects to the workshop. Whether manual woodworking and metalworking or using digital fabrication methods such as robotics and CNC, he is versed in design-to-production workflows, a firm-believer that the making process is fundamental to developing early design ideas. In addition to his already impressive resume, Bedir is also the UK's foremost skatepark construction engineer, having built over 25 skateparks as well as being consulted by community groups and local authorities to oversee the restoration of historic sites such as, Stockwell Skatepark, Kennington Bowl and the Hackney Bumps Community project in London. Bedir brings a ‘design for manufacture' approach to all of his projects, and a skillset that combines a focus on constructability with the art of collaboration between tradespeople and local communities. He's adept at taking projects from concept design to prototyping to construction. At our studio, he is also the practice champion and technical leader for our temporary works engineering.

Ben Gholam

  • Structural Engineer

Ben Scott

Job Titles:
  • Associate
Ben joined Price & Myers in 2007 and became an Associate in 2015. His experience includes a wide portfolio of award winning projects, focusing recently on the education and arts sector, with projects ranging from new academic university buildings to the refurbishment of existing theatres. Ben seeks out opportunities to express the engineering on his projects, and believes that the architectural design can be enriched by simple and elegant engineering. Ben also aims to establish a good relationship with the client and design team from the outset, and believes that building trust and confidence amongst the team helps make the project enjoyable for all involved.

Ben Sheterline

Job Titles:
  • Associate
It's unusual to work on a project that isn't in some way challenging; be it the budget, tight programme, tricky site, or a brief requiring a complex structure. Ben approaches these challenges by openly discussing the considerations and potential impacts with the client and design team, allowing informed decisions to be made early on in the project. Ben has an acute attention to detail which is incredibly important as he is often designing exposed structural elements as part of the architectural language; this is something he really enjoys doing and something he's developed on numerous projects including sports facilities, theatres, education buildings and housing. Ben joined Price & Myers in 2006 and became an Associate in 2014. He has been an external tutor for the Bartlett School of Architecture since 2014. Outside of life at Price & Myers, Ben is a big foodie and this mostly involves trips to restaurants, but also involves testing recipes from his cookbook collection on friends and family.

David Lockett

Job Titles:
  • Partner
David's enthusiasm for the building industry began at an early age in his father's pre-cast concrete factory. He enjoyed talking to the contractors about their projects and looking at the architect's and engineer's drawings that would be used to design the moulds and concrete mix. It was at this factory that David met the partner of our Nottingham office, who offered him some work experience and subsequently summer placements during his university holidays. After graduating in 1999, David joined our team in Nottingham and has been an integral part of Price & Myers ever since. David has a broad range of experience extending from large scale mixed-use and residential schemes to small scale domestic projects. He has been the structural engineer for many education projects for both state and private schools, higher education facilities for some of the county's top universities, subterranean extensions often several storeys deep, religious buildings, refurbishment projects and commercial buildings. He likes to be involved from the outset and believes the success of a scheme can only be fully realised when the engineering aspects are considered early enough in the design process to influence the client's brief. David is a keen cyclist, annually hosting the Price & Myers Cycle Day along with Andy Toohey and Peter Dash, and has ridden the 1,500km Cycle to MIPIM in support of Coram, a charity raising vital funds for vulnerable children.
