Chris Bingle

Chris joined Pegasus Art soon after it opened in 2005 and is the ‘go - to' person for everything you need to know about oil painting and stretching canvas! She is our in-house bespoke canvas maker, with experience of all kinds of stretching challenges! Chris gained her BA Hons Fine Art in 1982 and paints landscapes, still life and more recently lino prints from her studio in nearby Piccadilly Mill. She regularly exhibits with SVA Open Studios and has years of teaching experience. She has an extensive knowledge of art materials and advice on colour mixing is freely given!

Derwent is a brand with an incredible heritage and is especially known for its pencils. The Cumberland Pencil Company have been producing pencils in Cumbria since 1832 and the fine pencils in the range are still made in the UK. Jane Fisher

Jane Fisher is a graduate in fine arts and a talented professional artist who divides her time between her own artistic endeavours and her work at Pegasus Art. Jane and the rest of our team simply love what we do and strive to offer an unrivalled range of art materials and supplies, together with friendly and informed advice and a warm welcome to professionals and amateurs alike. There is a community feel and a vibrant atmosphere at Pegasus which is why artists travel to visit us from far and wide to find the materials and advice they need, together with a liberal dose of creative inspiration! Jane Fisher, Director of Pegasus Art, started the business in 2005 and has driven its' growth to become one of the key suppliers of art materials in the UK and abroad. Jane sets a welcoming and happy tone and has created a hub for the artist community of Stroud and beyond. After taking a break from a business career to study a Fine Art painting degree at University of Gloucestershire, it was a lecture given by a visiting expert from Royal Talens that sparked an interest in art materials. It is a passion that has developed with a particular interest in fine art paper. Her first exhibition was with Jerwood Drawing in 2000. Her in-depth knowledge, pursuit of new products, developments and contacts in the industry has given a real authenticity to the brand. John Hersey

Unison Colours all began when the artist John Hersey felt as though there wasn't a pastel out there that was completely satisfying. After much experimentation and hard work, in 1987 John decided to share his pastels which fellow artists. So pleased were those who tried them with the results, that it soon became a commercial operation.

Kerry Phippen

Kerry has worked at Pegasus Art for the past eight years and is an integral part of the team. With a first class Fine Art drawing degree and Masters from the University of Bath, Kerry is perfectly placed to offer advice and assistance to all our customers, many of whom are professional artists. She teaches private classes and regular workshops at Pegasus Art and New Brewery Arts. She has a studio at the Centre of Science and Art in Stroud and is always drawing and painting, with a passion for ink. Her work is in the permanent collection at The British Museum and she has exhibited at The Royal Academy Summer Show, Jerwood Drawing Prize and The National Open Art Competition. She regularly exhibits and participates in SIT Select Open Studios every year. Keeps us all running with a damn fine coffee every morning!

Nadine James

Nadine is our most recent member of staff, joining in February 2018. She is already an invaluable member of staff, drawing on her Illustration degree from UWE and MA from the Royal College of Art in Communication Art & Design. She has a studio in Stroud where she works mainly in watercolour producing large scale paintings and more detailed views of nature. Penelope Kirk

Penel has a Fashion and Textiles degree from Central Saint Martins and has worked internationally, notably setting up a swimwear design studio in Sydney, Australia. She joined Pegasus Art in 2011 and paints in her riverside studio in Chalford. Her latest series of paintings are large, architectural works in oil. She is always happy and bubbly, ready to give advice, often acting as our in-house model for photoshoots! Penel works with Chris to stretch canvases and knows an awful lot about paint techniques.

Percy Coate

Percy Coate first began experimenting with making willow charcoal in the 1960s. He used the willow that he grew himself and it took several years to perfect his technique. Indeed, he wasn't ready to sell his product until the 1970s. His grandfather had started in business in the 19th century buying and selling willow crops. Coates remains a family concern and offers what has been recognised as the finest quality willow charcoal in the world.

Her organisational skills help keep the chaos running smoothly and is often to be heard saying ‘who left that there?!'
