Abby Ferriola

Ms. Ferriola earned her bachelor of science in nursing from West Chester University in 2005 and has extensive experience in cardiac nursing in addition to caring for patients with heart failure. She has been with Chester County Hospital since 2003 and has held nursing roles in telemetry in addition to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and was instrumental in opening the 4 North Unit. Presently, she is a heart and vascular nurse navigator where she educates patients and helps them coordinate services.

Adrienne Towsen

A member of Chester County Hospital Medical Staff since 2006, Dr. Towsen specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee. She completed her residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and went on to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. In addition to offering general orthopaedic and fracture care, Dr. Towsen has extensive experience with advanced surgical techniques in the shoulder, knee and elbow. Procedures for the shoulder include rotator cuff repair, labral repair, AC joint reconstruction, superior capsular reconstruction, latarjet (for chronic shoulder instability), and total joint replacement (standard and reverse). She also performs the following procedures of the knee: all-inside ACL reconstruction, multiple ligament reconstruction, meniscal repair, medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction, and total joint replacement. Procedures of the elbow include distal bicep tendon repair, ulnar nerve transposition, and medial/lateral epicondyle release (for chronic tendonitis). Dr. Towsen was named a Main Line Today "Top Doctor" in 2014.

Agnes Friedberg

Ms. Friedberg earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Temple University in 1999 and has been with Chester County Hospital since 2016. Her previous experience has given her an extensive background in critical care nursing in addition to caring for patients with heart failure. Presently, she is a heart and vascular nurse navigator where she educates patients and helps them coordinate services.

Alan M. Askinas

Dr. Askinas completed his undergraduate training at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois and received his medical degree from the University of Illinois School of Medicine, in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his residency at Tulane University, Charity Hospital, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Askinas is a Fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania for Medical Students and Residents. Alexis S. Tingan

Dr. Tingan joined our leadership team in 2019 and is an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Tingan grew up in Beaumont, TX and received his degree in Molecular Biology from Princeton University. After receiving his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine in 2010, Dr. Tingan completed an internship with the Department of General Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He then completed residency training with the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Pennsylvania where he served as chief resident in his final year. Following residency, Dr. Tingan completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Tingan's clinical focus is sports medicine, general musculoskeletal medicine, spine medicine, and spine interventions. His research interests include gait mechanics in runners and incidence of injuries in runners. Dr. Tingan has served in various sports medicine leadership roles. He has served as a team Physician for the University of Pennsylvania Men's Varsity Soccer team and is currently the team physician for the University of Pennsylvania's Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Dr. Tingan is the Medical Director for the Penn Relays, the Medical Director for the Philadelphia Love Run Half Marathon, and serves on the USA Track & Field Sports Medicine & Science Committee.

Amanulla Khaji

Dr. Khaji is a cardiac electrophysiologist on the medical staff at Chester County Hospital. He completed his undergraduate training at B. M. Patil Medical College in Bijapur, India. He received his postgraduate training in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and received membership of Royal Colleges of Physicians London. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in cardiology, and an advanced fellowship in electrophysiology at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.

Amber Dawn Haymore

A member of Chester County's Hospital staff since 2016 and a Penn Medicine employee since 2014, Amber received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pennsylvania State University. She received her Master of Science in Nursing and Post-Master's certificate as an Adult Oncology Specialist from the University of Pennsylvania. She is certified as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

Andrew Old

Dr. Old graduated from Harvard University. He completed his residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia followed by a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction of the Hip and Knee at the Insall Scott Kelly Institute in New York City. He is certified in robotic assisted surgery and computer navigation. Dr. Old focuses on meniscal injuries, cruciate ligament reconstruction, fractures around the hip and knee, partial knee replacement, total knee and hip replacements for end stage arthritis, and complex revisions or repeat surgery in the hip and knee. Dr. Old is in practice with Premier Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Associates, Chester County Orthopaedics Division, with locations in West Chester, Kennett Square and West Grove.

Andrew S. Frankel

A member of Chester County Hospital Medical Staff since 1994, Dr. Frankel received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic residency at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where he went on to complete a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction. Dr. Frankel is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Ashley Terlingo

Ashley has been a part of the Chester County Hospital family since 2003 and has worked with the rehab team since 2013. Ashley graduated from Temple University with a Master of Arts degree in Speech, Language and Hearing Science. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She provides evaluation and treatment for adults with swallowing and/or communication disorders. She enjoys working with student clinicians. She is trained to complete Video Fluoroscopic Swallow Studies and is MBSImP certified.

Bethany Sterling

Bethany received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Delaware and began her nursing career at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 2007 on the Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. While practicing as a clinical nurse, she pursued her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. After completing her MSN, she practiced as a Nurse Practitioner in Surgical Orthopedic Oncology at Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center in Philadelphia and at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. In 2017, she joined the Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital. She is certified as an Advanced Oncology Nurse Practitioner and Adult Health Nurse Practitioner. She is passionate about caring for the oncology patient and active in many local and national organizations to support research and funding for a cure.

Bhavna Mohandas

Dr. Mohandas received a medical degree from the Medical College - Trivandrum. She completed an internship and residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and in addition completed a fellowship at Temple University Hospital.

Boris Radisic

Boris has been a member of the team since 1991 and has been a Physical Therapist since 1981. He was instrumental in the establishment of physical therapy services at the Kennett Square, PA location for the community. He received his bachelor of science in Physical Therapy from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was co-captain of the football team, a member of the track team, and a Sphinx Senior Honor Society member. Boris completed courses in mobilization of the extremities and lumbar spine as well as evaluation and treatment of shoulder, knee, and ankle injuries. He has specialized training and certification and a sincere passion for Parkinson's and Geriatric clients. He provides care and education to the community through lectures, school programs, and by volunteering at local events. Boris is a member of The American Physical Therapy Association, Orthopoaedic Section and Geriatric Section.

Brendan Sullivan

A member of the team since 2006, Brendan received his bachelors degree in Health Sciences from Boston University and his masters in Physical Therapy from Boston University. He worked as a therapist for eight years in the United States Army, serving as chief therapist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and at medical facilities in Germany. Brendan received his Board Certification as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and continues to specialize in orthopaedics and manual therapies. He has extensive training in spine and extremity rehabilitation and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Carrie Leese

Carrie Leese is a native of West Grove, PA who has experience treating a wide range of conditions and patients of all ages. Her experience includes outpatient and inpatient settings along with skilled nursing facilities. Carrie received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Widener University in 2011, her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University in 2008, and a massage therapist certificate from the Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy in 1998. In 2015, Carrie became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist through the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy. Carrie's interest is in manual therapy skills, providing a hands-on approach to physical therapy treatments. Her continuing education courses include Functional Movement Screen, Myofascial Release, and KT Taping, to name a few. Along with her knowledge in rehabilitation, manual therapy, and strength and conditioning, Carrie has an extensive background in working with horses and riders including working for equestrian athletes up to the Olympic level. Carrie continues to integrate her knowledge of modern conditioning and orthopedic concepts to help with rehabilitation and injury prevention of the equestrian athlete in the Southern Chester County area.

Cheryl A. Johnson

A member of Chester County Hospital's medical staff since 1996, Dr. Johnson was trained at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident of Internal Medicine from 1992-1993. She completed a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, serving as Chief Fellow from 1995-1996. Dr. Johnson is board-certified in Hematology and Oncology. She is a medical oncologist with Penn Hematology/Oncology and has been recognized as a "Top Doc" by Main Line Today magazine.

Cheryl Renee Bellaire

Cheston Simmons

A member of Chester County Hospital Medical Staff since 1994, Dr. Simmons received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He completed an internship at Graduate Hospital, a residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, a research fellowship at The Rothman Institute in Philadelphia and a fellowship in joint replacement and spinal surgery at The New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He is past recipient of the Everett J. Gordon Award for Clinical Excellence in Orthopaedics and previously served as a staff physician with the New England Baptist Hospital. Dr. Simmons is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. Christine Kansky

Dr. Kansky completed her undergraduate training at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey and received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Health in Richmond, Virginia. Her special areas of expertise include adolescent gynecology, family planning and contraception management, low intervention birth as well as high risk obstetrics, and the medical and surgical management of abnormal uterine bleeding. Christopher Aylsworth

After serving as a combat medical specialist in the Gulf War, Mr. Aylsworth completed his Physician Assistant training at Stony Brook, State University of New York and later earned his MBA from Temple University's Fox School of Business. Mr. Aylsworth has 20 years of clinical experience in cardiothoracic surgery. He was instrumental in helping establish Chester County Hospital's heart and vascular program in 2001 and presently leads our team of cardiac surgery advanced practice providers. He is a member of the Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery and Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

Christopher Baldi

Dr. Baldi attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a rotating internship at Kennedy Memorial Hospitals-University Medical Center, his Internal Medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center and his Cardiology fellowship at The Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Baldi is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography by The National Board of Echocardiography. Dr. Baldi has special interests in advanced imaging, congenital cardiomyopathies and Sports Medicine and is a member of the Sports and Exercise Cardiology Section of the American College of Cardiology.

Christopher J. Lyons

Dr. Lyons is a graduate of the Temple University School of Medicine, where he completed a surgical residency with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He provides care for a multitude of Orthopaedic conditions, such as arthritis, fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, and has extensive experience as a trauma surgeon. Dr. Lyons performs minimally invasive total knee and hip replacements. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a past recipient of the John W. Lachman Award for Excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery and the Mary P. Wiedeman Award for Excellence in Physiology Research.

Christopher Lengel

Chris is a native of West Chester, PA and attended St. Agnes and Bishop Shanahan High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from East Stroudsburg University with a concentration in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine. While at East Stroudsburg, Chris lettered in baseball for all four years and graduated with honors. In 1994, Chris became a Certified Athletic Trainer and served for three years in an Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Fellowship program in Chester County. In 1999, Chris graduated with honors from Southwest Baptist University with a Master of Physical Therapy degree. Chris worked in Baltimore, MD from 1999 to 2008, where he specialized in Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics. Chris became a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist in 2004. Chris has served Southern Chester County, as a Physical Therapist, since 2008, and is currently the site lead in our Penn Medicine Southern Chester County facility in West Grove, PA.

Colleen DiBernardo

A member of the Chester County Hospital staff since 2005, Colleen received her master's degree in 1998 from Simmons College in Boston, MA. She has worked in outpatient physical and home care. She has helped to establish aquatic therapy programs prior to her arrival at the Hospital. She has continuing education in manual techniques of the spine and extremities through Mulligan and Maitland, both Australian professors.

Cynthia Wagner

A member of Chester County Hospital's medical staff since 2017, Cynthia received her Bachelor of Science from West Chester University. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota and her post-master certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from the University of Pennsylvania. She also earned a certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Wilmington University in Delaware. She is board certified in pain management and palliative care. Cynthia practices at Penn Hematology/Oncology in West Chester, Exton and Kennett Square.

Daniel A. Elkins

Daniel C. Farber

Board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Farber received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Penn State's Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Farber received his fellowship at the Mayo Clinic - Jacksonville. Dr. Farber specializes in the treatment of all disorders of the foot and ankle ranging from clubfoot to total ankle replacement surgery.

Daniel J. Hayes

Dr. Hayes graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then completed a residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and a fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Hayes is Board Certified in General Surgery and is a member of Surgical Specialists.

David Cluck

A part of the team since 2001, David received his bachelors in Sports Medicine from Messiah College before completing his AA as a physical therapist assistant from Central Pennsylvania College. David treats orthopaedic injuries with an emphasis on foot, ankle and shoulder rehabilitation. He has worked with multiple levels of athletes from high school to the professional teams and has developed sport specific strength and conditioning programs for minor league baseball pitchers. David is also certified as a Body Balance for Performance Golf Fitness Specialist and is a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association and the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainer's Association.

David Jones

Mr. Jones earned his bachelor of science in nursing from Wilkes University and completed a critical care internship from Hershey Medical Center in 1999. He completed his master of science in nursing from Thomas Jefferson University and became board certified as an acute care nurse practitioner in 2006. Mr. Jones has been with Penn Medicine since 2001 and has a special interest in catheter-based structural heart technology, advanced cardiovascular imaging, multi-disciplinary program operations and quality improvement. He is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American College of Cardiology, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Association of Critical Care Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau.

David Ong

David obtained his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines in 1987 and started his career in Vancouver, Canada. He went on to complete his Master of Science degree in Orthopedic and Sports Physical therapy at the University of Alberta in 1992. He then moved to Pennsylvania to work in the outpatient orthopedic setting while being an adjunct clinical faculty member at Widener University's Physical Therapy Program from 1993 until 2001. Along the way he received further training and certifications in the field of orthopedic and sports therapy to include Orthopedic Certified Specialist from ABPTS, Credentialed MDT Practitioner from the McKenzie Institute, Certified Kinesiotaping Practitioner from Kinesio University and Certified Orthopedic Manipulative Therapist from the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy. He is also a Graston Technique trained practitioner and is currently a candidate for Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy through Andrew's University in Michigan.

Denise Margaret Karl

Denise is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Physical Therapy. She has been employed with Chester County Hospital since 1988 and is currently the Lead Therapist in the Acute Care Physical Therapy Department. Denise was very involved with the development and implementation of the orthopaedic services offered at the Hospital as well as the Soarian project, an electronic documentation process developed in partnership with Siemens. She is a member of the discharge planning committee and the JCAHO taskforce.

Deon W. Vigilance

Job Titles:
  • Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, Penn Medicine
Dr. Deon Vigilance's clinical expertise includes robot-assisted cardiac surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve procedures, coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), and surgical procedures for treatment of atrial fibrillation. He also has extensive experience in new catheter-based (non-surgical) techniques for aortic valve replacement - TAVR procedure. Dr. Vigilance received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He went on to Columbia University/New York Presbyterian Hospital where he was the chief research fellow and the procurement fellow of thoracic organs in the division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He completed his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Maryland Medical System. Dr. Vigilance comes to Chester County Hospital from Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic - Mercy Health System in Darby, Pennsylvania where he presently serves as Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is board-certified in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery.

Dianne DeMichiel Hotmer

Donna Reed

Dr. Reed is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Hahnemann University Hospital. Dr. Reed is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Nuclear Cardiology. She serves as the Director of the Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratories at Chester County Hospital and the Vascular Laboratories at Chester County Cardiology Associates. Dr. Reed received recognition in Main Line Today's2007 Top Docs Issue. Her clinical areas of expertise include consultative cardiology for the management of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, aortic pathology, peripheral vascular disease and arrhythmia. She has a special interest in heart disease in women, congenital heart disease in the adult and 3D Echocardiography. Dr. Reed is a partner at Chester County Cardiology Associates and sees patients at their West Chester office.

Donna Taylor

Ms. Taylor earned her master of science in nursing from Grand Canyon University, specializing in Leadership in Healthcare Systems in 2016. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Eastern University in 2006. Ms. Taylor has been with Chester County Hospital since 1993 and has an extensive background in critical care and cardiac nursing. Presently, she is a heart and vascular nurse navigator where she educates patients and helps them coordinate services.

Dr. Daniel Altman

Dr. Meher Burki

Mary Knisely

A member of the team since 2006, Mary graduated from the University of Delaware where she received her degree in Physical Therapy. She has previously worked in Dallas, Texas at St. Paul's Human Performance Center and various Sports Medicine Clinics. She has also worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic in Hillsboro, Oregon. Her professional running career as a middle-distance runner allowed her to compete at the international level and provided insight into the importance of proper training, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. Injury prevention played an essential role in her success as a runner and she places importance in educating her patients in the self-care of their bodies, encouraging them to be active in the treatment process. A mainstay in educating her patients also includes proper sitting and standing posture and body mechanics. Manual therapy and massage was an essential tool she used to promote her body's ability to heal after a running injury, which helped her reduce pain and improve her performance. As a result of her experience, she incorporated a therapy called IASTM - instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization using Graston instruments - into her manual skill set. She has a special interest in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy of the spine and is pursuing education in this area. Satoshi Furukawa

She received her masters and doctorate degrees in Physical Therapy from Temple University. Stefanie is certified as a Neonatal Touch and Massage Therapist since 2015. She is the lead NICU PT and also the coordinator of the Developmental Follow Up Clinic for NICU graduates. Stefanie is an active member of NANT, the National Association of Neonatal Therapists. She routinely trains Neonatal and Pediatric staff nurses about the latest techniques in developmental care for neonates and infants. She is active in creating policies to improve the NICU environment for developing preemies. She also is the chair of the Developmental Care Committee, which furthers developmental care for our littlest patients here at Chester County Hospital.

Stephanie joined the Chester County Hospital rehabilitation team in 2017. She earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy from West Chester University and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Florida Gulf Coast University.
