Andrew Boghossian

Andrew Boghossian is a Bachelor of Architecture student at Cornell AAP. Andrew has worked with deconstruction contractors and resale centers in the physical act of disassembling a building and processing building materials for reuse. While at Cornell, he has worked with interdisciplinary, student-led project teams to assist in policy work and building energy use analysis for the Ithaca Green New Deal. Boghossian currently works in the Circular Construction Lab as a part-time research assistant developing documentation tools to help the city of Ithaca, local developers, architects, and contractors adopt deconstruction. He is primarily investigating how to survey buildings for reusable materials, how to quantify such materials, and how to document materials effectively for the necessary large-scale adoption of deconstruction by built-environment professionals.

Celeste Chhibber

Celeste Chhibber is a sophomore in the School of Engineering, studying Environmental Engineering. She is passionate about using engineering as a vehicle for positive change in the world. She firmly believes in the potential of engineering to address environmental challenges and pioneer innovative solutions that contribute to a brighter and more sustainable future. Celeste joins the Circular Construction Lab as a research assistant dedicated to help advocate for a future that prioritizes fostering cleaner, more environmentally conscious construction practices.

Felix Heisel

Job Titles:

Felix Heisel is an architect and academic working towards the systematic redesign of the built environment as a material depot of endless use and reconfiguration. He is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the Circular Construction Lab at Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. He is a faculty fellow at the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability, and a graduate field member in architecture, systems engineering and matter design computation. Heisel is a co-founder and partner of 2hs architects and engineers, Germany, an office specialized in the development of circular prototypologies. He has received various awards for his work and published numerous books and articles on the topic, including Building Better- Less - Different: Circular Construction and Circular Economy (Birkhäuser, 2022); Urban Mining und kreislaufgerechtes Bauen (Urban Mining and Circular Construction, Fraunhofer IRB, 2021); Cultivated Building Materials (Birkhäuser, 2017), and Building from Waste (Birkhäuser, 2014). Heisel graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts and has been teaching and researching at universities around the world, including the Berlage Institute; the Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction, and City Developments; ETH Zürich, both in Switzerland and Singapore; and Harvard GSD.

Marta H. Wisniewska

Marta H. Wisniewska is an architect and urban planner whose research and teaching promotes alternative building materials and investigates their applications in local building sectors in developed and developing territories. Wisniewska is a Lecturer at Cornell AAP and the Director of Regenerative Architecture Lab. She is also a faculty fellow at the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability and a member of the graduate faculty in the field of architecture. Influenced by her experiences researching and teaching in different contexts such as Ethiopia, Singapore, Switzerland, Germany, and the U.S., she aims to activate new and alternative resources for unique and context-specific applications, aspiring to widen the architectural palette and support a circular economy paradigm for the building industry. Wisniewska's work has been published in several books such as Building from Waste (Birkhäuser, 2014); Addis Ababa: a Manifesto on African Progress (Ruby Press, 2018); and City in Your Hands, ETH Zurich (2019). She holds an M.Sc. in Architecture and Urban Planning from ZUT Szczecin, Poland.

Matthew Glaysher

Matt Glaysher is an artist and designer whose interests span art, design, and architecture. He is particularly interested in the intersection of digital fabrication tools with traditional craft materials and processes. Matt has an MFA in sculpture and ceramics from Pratt Institute. He has been an adjunct lecturer at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Syracuse University, and Ithaca College. Matt's work has been included in shows at the John Michael Kohler Art Center, the Everson Museums Syracuse Biennialand at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum. His artwork and mold-making have been published in The Clay Lovers Guide to Making Molds by Pierce Clayton, (Lark Books 1999). Matt is currently a digital fabrication technician at Cornell AAP.

Yi Xu is a third-year MArch student at Cornell AAP with a foundation in architectural design from the University of Melbourne.
