He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE). He is a member of the ARC College of Experts and a member of the European Research Council (ERC) Expert Panel for Physical Sciences and Engineering. He also received Scopus Research Award in 2022 and the Award for Excellence in Concrete by the Concrete Institute of Australia-Vic Branch in 2017 and 2023. He is the two-time winner of the University of Melbourne Excellence Award for Industry-engaged Research in 2017 and 2020.
