He reveived a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Verona. From 2008 to 2023 he was Research Associate and Research Assistant at the ALTAIR Robotics Laboratory. His research interests include but are not limited to medical image processing, artificial intelligence for medical robotics procedures, minimally invasive procedures.

Received the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. From 1985 to 2000, he was with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, where he worked on telerobotic and teleoperated systems for space exploration. From 2000 to 2023, he was Professor of control systems and Robotics with the School of Science, University of Verona, Verona, Italy, where he founded the ALTAIR Robotics Laboratory.

He is Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering for Innovation Medicine of the University of Verona. He received the the Ph.D. degree in Electronic and Information Engineering in 2003 from the University of Padova (Italy). In 2008 he joined the ALTAIR robotics laboratory, University of Verona (Italy). He was the coordinator of the Horizon 2020 project SARAS (Smart Autonomous Robotic Assistant Surgeon, https://saras-project.eu/) and he is the local coordinator for UNIVR of the Horizon Europe GEYEDANCE and ROBIOPSY projects. His research interests include control and system theory, teleoperation, robotics, surgical robotics, predictive maintenance, networked control systems and adaptive optics.

SALVATORE MICALI

He is the leading urologist of the University of Modena-Reggio (Italy) and has carried out the cadaver tests demonstrating the accuracy of the biopsy approach.
