The Sustainable Wildlife Trust was established in 2015 as a nonprofit Namibian-based conservation organization... Our goal is to improve the preservation of wildlife and habitat, reduce Human-Wildlife conflict, and to deter poaching and encroachment. We accomplish this mission by creating sustainable funding channels, providing administrative oversight, and building community engagement and support... The foundation of our conservation program is built upon community involvement. Through local empowerment, the SWT program creates critically important jobs for our community partners. Our Community Conservation Initiative currently provides training and employment for 46 game guards, conservation officers, and support personnel. Local employment comprises more than 90% of the SWT conservation team. By hiring local, we create crucial community support for our mission and this ultimately ensures maximum program effectiveness.
