Adrian Hay - Founder

Adrian has 35 years of fire consultancy experience encompassing design & construction advice, research and legal work. Design projects have covered all manner of private, public and commercial buildings e.g. sports stadia, industrial facilities, residential developments, shopping centres, transport interchanges, exhibition halls, high rise buildings etc, focusing on the development of fire safety strategies. Research has considered issues such as amendments to Approved Document B (the main technical guidance document to the Building Regulations in England and Wales) and comparisons of tactical fire-fighting techniques employed by the US and UK fire service. He has also assisted in the drafting of various codes and standards, e.g. Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds, Fire Technical Standards for Malta. His focus now, as Director, is on harnessing the considerable technical experience within Tenos to improve standards in fire safety and extend the quality of service.

Andrew Foolkes

Andrew is dually qualified as a Chartered Building Control Surveyor and a Chartered Engineer, registered through the Institution of Fire Engineers and has over 20 years' fire safety experience in both the public and private sector. He has been involved in the design of new and existing buildings in the UK and internationally using both British and international design codes. Andrew is an active member of RICS Fire Safety Working Group, the author of various RICS Building Journal articles, and has been a speaker at several RICS Building Control & Fire Safety Conferences. Andrew was a contributing author to both the Means of Escape and Performance Based Design chapters of CIBSE Guide E (2019) and was involved in the re-draft of the fire safety section of the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds 6th Edition ("the Green Guide"). His focus now as Director is to lead the Design Consultancy part of the business in delivering practical, common sense fire safety designs for our clients. In addition, Andrew is currently a Trustee of Tenos' Employee Ownership Trust, working to ensure the success of the trust for the benefit of all employees.

Mostyn Bullock

Mostyn has 36 years' experience in the fire safety field, encompassing research, testing, training, expert witness and design. His Fire Engineering Design projects have covered a broad range of private, public and commercial buildings, and he has been involved and led many fire safety research projects. These have included the fire performance of modern methods of construction, active fire protection and other specialised built environments. Results of this research have been incorporated into published standards and guidance documents. Through his significant engagement with the activities of the Institution of Fire Engineers, Mostyn has close contact with peers, including those working in regulation and enforcement in matters relating to professional standards and technical issues.

Paul Hoban - CFO

Paul is a Chartered Management Accountant with over 20 years' experience as a Finance Director delivering profit led solutions through finance, change management and leadership development. He has built his expertise within technology, construction, automotive and similar professional service companies. Paul's key strategic responsibility is to ensure Tenos realises its ambitious growth plans through financial leadership, forecasting and management of operational risk.

Peter Camp

Peter joined Tenos in April 2018 as Principal Engineer and soon transitioned to Associate Director with responsibility for the delivery of our technical fire services in the Manchester office. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), registered through the Institution of Fire Engineers and a member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE). He started his consultancy career in 1994 initially working in high hazard industries before broadening out into fire strategy development for commercial building developments. In 2002 he joined AstraZeneca as the Global Fire Engineer with responsibility for ensuring a consistent, effective approach to fire risk management across a wide portfolio of industrial and commercial premises and providing fire engineering input to global and local engineering projects. Following short stints in the nuclear and insurance industries Peter brought his experience to Tenos, where he provides technical input as an expert advisor for claims relating to defects in fire resisting construction, compartmentation and external wall construction in educational use, residential and retail buildings, supports the strategic fire team and helps to deliver our strategy through the Manchester office.

Russell Clinton

Russell is a Chartered Fire Safety Engineer who has over 35 years' experience and has been responsible for the fire safety design of a wide range of major building and transportation projects at home and overseas.

Sam Greenwood - Managing Director

Sam first began working in the fire industry in 1991. He is a Chartered Fellow of The Institution of Fire Engineers, regularly works as an expert witness and has broad knowledge of the fire industry including fire engineering, fire investigation, Building Regulation Compliance, Insurance Loss Adjusting, fire research, fire risk assessments, fire resistance and reaction-to-fire testing, training and lecturing. He has advised Government on fire safety matters (both the Department of Communities and Local Government and the Construction Unit of the Welsh Government). Sam has conducted over 200 fire investigation cases focusing on issues such as spread of fire, fire testing, fire protection systems performance, Building Regulations compliance, fire and intruder detection systems. His fire safety design experience includes managing the design for fire safety in sectors including residential, office, hotel, education, healthcare, retail, industrial, sports/leisure, airports and rail. Schemes ranging from single storey buildings to a mixed-use development of US$750 million.

Stuart Kerr

Stuart is a Chartered Fire Engineer with a total of 40 years' experience in the construction industry. 5 years of those years were spent in Building Control largely focusing on fire safety followed by 23 years in fire consultancy. He brings a wealth of experience in the application of British and International building codes, in new and existing buildings across the full spectrum of residential, commercial and multi-use buildings and has been involved in some of the world's most prestigious projects. Stuart is also a representative on the British Standards committee and has been involved in the revision and development of several Standards which relate to the fire performance of buildings. His focus now as Director, is to lead the Inspection and Surveying team, delivering a consistent, high-quality service to our valued Clients.
