Our director, Jesus Toro, founded this piano studio in 2015. Originally from Venezuela, Mr. Toro currently lives in Charleston, South Carolina (SC). Mr. Toro is the pianist and organist for Hibben United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant, SC, and faculty at Diamond Bar Yamaha School of Music in California (remote). His greatest passion is getting students excited about playing music. Jesus is a Venezuelan pianist and music educator whose studies took place at the National Conservatory of Music and the Centro Mozarteum School of Music in Caracas, Venezuela; College of Charleston (South Carolina), and Azusa Pacific University (California). Jesus has played recitals throughout Venezuela, and he has participated at: The Aspen Music Festival and School, the Young Artist Series of Piccolo Spoleto (USA), and the Perugia Music Fest in Italy, where he performed as a soloist with "I Solisti di Perugia" Orchestra. He has been engaged to perform as a soloist with several professional orchestras in Venezuela, such as the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Caracas, the Venezuelan Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Soloists of Venezuela Orchestra. In 2016 and 2017 he was invited to play as a soloist with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra in Idaho and Spokane, Washington. In 2010 he obtained the 1st Prize in the National Competition "El Piano Venezolano." In 2015 he was a prize winner in the V category of the Liszt International Piano Competition in LA, and the 1st Prize of the Concerto Competition at Azusa Pacific University in California. Jesus has been the music minister, organist, and pianist at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pomona, (California), a pianist at Christ Church Presbyterian in Mount Pleasant (South Carolina), and is currently the pianist and organist for Hibben United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant, SC. In addition to his musical career, Jesus holds a Law Degree from Santa Maria University in Caracas, Venezuela.
